Ok so here is my comment on the chosen: I was a faithful follower, I bought almost 200.00 worth of stuff from the gift factory, and I paid it forward annonamously. This reasoning of I’m doing this because I want to think outside the box. I am a Betty. Now God told Dallas he does a different math, trust me Jesus would have never made fun of the devil, he would have never talked about the devil, and the chosen will never fulfill making all 8 seasons. Dallas lost once before and God is now seeing how he has gone back to that same hungry person he was.
Appreciate this! Love everything you said. We are very excited about the ad and the campaign, and we think it’s going to be very effective at our goal. That said, where we really screwed up was not involving our core fans earlier in the billboard “prank,” which made many of them feel duped, and sadly, embarrassed. We knew some wouldn’t appreciate the campaign in general, and that’s okay, but we should have at least given them a heads up to avoid the “duped” part. Dallas is going to apologize for that tonight on our livestream.
Totally makes sense. Still I think overall this could be a very interesting organic campaign in the younger generation.
Dallas sent a text earlier today and explained everything in depth with an apology. I believe it was sincere.
get saved
I love it!!! It caused a buzz and people are way too sensitive these days
I'm conflicted about my feelings about this ad. That's what I appreciate about it. Love that which challenges your qqq
Thanks!
I gotta be honest, you had me going the first two minutes, bro! My jaw dropped in disbelief but then I realized it’s a Babylon Bee moment. 🤣
😂
I’m 73 (a Betty), and love and support The Chosen and this ad, and am thankful for their talented staff that came up with this.
At first I was a little taken back. But as you made it known the audience they are attempting to reach. It makes complete sense! It's thinking outside the box for sure!
I am a Betty and I think that this is a brilliant strategy. We need to up our game to save more souls and the youth are a tough audience to reach. God bless everyone!
The part when the parent sharing The Chosen to their teens.
I'm 19 and I'm the one who shared "The Chosen" on my Mom and Dad😄. I watched the season 1 and 2 with them.
I'm praying that they will be more and more interested in it🙏
Waiting for season 3!
I'm a "Betty," and the ad is ok by me. Humorous!! And that's a good approach for their target audience.
I’m a little younger ‘Betty’ (44) and I don’t have an issue with this marketing….
I'm really impressed with this analysis, Brandon! I had seen the instagram posts but hadn't actually made it to the site. I'm now very curious! I actually think this is an interesting opportunity to meet people where they're at...the one thing i've always struggled with in christian culture is how buttoned up things are when "promoting" things. It can make it hard for those who self-identify as "I would burst into flames walking into a church" to actually take a step towards taking a chance on something they see as "churchy"...plus that clip reminds me of the good place so that's also inviting for a specific demographic!
This is the newest "Screwtape Letter"; Let's pray it gets through as well, if not better than C.S. Lewis' masterpiece did😇
I thought of Screwtape Letters too
In Screwtape letters Satan was crafty, sharp and no fool. Here he is presented as a blithering idiot. We must be wise to his ways - which is the point Screwtape makes.
@@mantleofelijah yeah true. They make the devil look foolish when the devil is crafty.
@@ahavah0 exactly. And Dallas even said in his Facebook post “The devil made me do it” which is not something to joke about. Jesus said to Peter “get behind me Satan” because in our weak moments he can/will and does use any one of us. It’s not something to make a joke about. This advertising makes people think the devil is not real, not a threat to anyone and it’s all a big joke. That is the work of the devil right there because the truth is he fools people into hell every day.
We need to lead them into the light not humor people with darkness. The show was doing that, people of all ages were drawn to The Chosen as they are drawn to Jesus.
@@mantleofelijah yes that makes sense. He is the light of the world
“Betty” here, and I LOVE the satirical Hell video!! I LOL’d.. seriously. I have a 22 yr old and can verify that yes, your analysis is ON TARGET! I believe this ad campaign will be a huge success. Love YOUR channel, by the way !! 🙏🏻🔥♥️
I'm an absolute "Betty". I love The Chosen and pray that this marketing strategy is successful. I have no idea of how to spark the interest of the younger generation whatsoever, although I respect and admire them. As a child of the '60s, I was one of the youngsters that rebeled against whatever anyone over 30 suggested. If we remember our own youth, we can agree that this is not an easy audience. The Chosen is something different. I do trust the amazing minds of the creators of The Chosen to share this beautiful story with everyone across generations, and across the globe. I believe that through prayer and support, they will. I say 'GO TEAM GO!!!'
Genius! This may be the best way to encourage the younger generation to check out at least one or two episodes.
I was upset at first until I found out the purpose.
It reminded me of how many times I have told others, Jesus didn't spend his time in Temples, he was amongst the people finding the lost sheep.
I am an 80 year old widow. I love it?! God bless the chosen.
I really thought they lost it when I saw the first story about these ads. I was wondering what am doing supporting this. But after listening to your explanation tonight, I see it from a different point. My grandkids are either all in or not at all for the Chosen or God for that fact. Thank you for calming my insecurities about this ad campaign! Sincerely a Grandma Betty!
Darrell Eyes is a genius at RUclips and marketing. I can see this working for many young people simply because they'll feel they found it themselves which will create a certain level of ownership right from the beginning. I hope it brings a lot more kids in. And there's really no such thing as bad publicity.
Thank you Brandon. I am a Betty who has attempted to introduce my children ( both Gen Z and Millennials ) to ‘the Chosen’. One, my youngest, loves it but her older siblings have brushed it off and teased me about talking about it. What has surprised me is that all my children (praise to God) are professing Christians and yet they still resist. I appreciate you mentioning that this seems to be common place. I saw the billboards before it was explained and I was not offended nor necessarily excited about it but I appreciated Dallas taking full responsibility and apologizing for not being upfront about it. Seeing as I have tried myself and failed to reach the younger generation, I will be praying this campaign breaks through!! Thank you AGAIN Brandon for this… (I couldn’t watch the LIVE stream last night so I didn’t get Dallas’ full explanation.)
Yeah it’s difficult to get people to see that Christian creativity can be amazing. I was even resistant at first until I saw the first episode.
I think if Dallas had said something at the outset it would not have had nearly the effect. The element of surprise is important. His thinking was likely along the lines of "it's better to ask forgiveness than get permission" ...though I am not convinced he did anything wrong. Christ did nothing wrong and offended all kinds of folks... the ones who get offended not because God's word is violated but because their sensibilities were.
@@thotsaboutGod You make valid points. Let me clarify, it’s not that I think Dallas should have apologized -its more that I appreciated his humility and willingness to apologize.
@@lorebear He's equally humble and creative. An unusual combination.
I’m trusting God about this. His ways are not my ways. He sees the end from the beginning. He knows the heart of the people and how to reach them. I’m keeping my eyes on Jesus and believing the Holy Spirit to give me discernment at every turn. I’m trusting that the Lord will fill my mouth with His wisdom if I have an encounter. I will continue to pray God’s will be done. The Chosen has been used to enrich my life and deepen my relationship with Jesus. I don’t have any further comments about this new campaign. I’m just trusting God one step at a time!😊
Bro, you had my heart going. I thought oh no, what is happening with the Chosen. Glad it was a spoof. Man I have heart issues, don't do that again, LOL
😂 sorry Mark! Some definitely have an issue with this campaign. We don’t though, I think it’s a great way to stir up the waters.
@@TheSnipeLife I loved it, once I knew it wasn't bad news. Thanks for what you do. Just started watching season 2 again. God Bless !
What a good way to get people to watch the chosen !! And I pray they continue to expand I love the chosen and because of the show it changed a lot of peoples lives !!
Love seeing & hearing from you, I learned my name is Betty, I saw the “ad” earlier by accident and it made me laugh 😆. Can’t blame The Chosen for aiming at a different market
Loved the “devils” that kept falling for The Chosen and landed in the hole! No, it did not bother my sensibilities.
Peace and Blessed Easter to you!🐣💜🙌🏽
I'm not offended, but I'm wondering whether this was the wise thing to do. Is it good to mislead people for the show so others can enjoy?
Gen Z kid here.
Yeah I can see that point of view for sure. Thanks for your input bro.
I kinda feel like that. I don't like those pictures of the devil with Jonathan in there. I love the chosen but now I have questions: Is this a good move?
Mislead implies ill intent. This was designed to provoke with the intent of getting the message out to a larger audience.
I agree with you completely. It wasn't a good move in my opinion. Is it okay to use Satan for Christ's purposes? Like a house divided against itself. :-/ Very disappointed.
@@signsofthetimes9419 in this context it’s definitely okay, and got a laugh out of me lol
Lol.....I'm Betty. My kids have not watched it because mom asked them to. It did kinda take me back a bit but I do understand why now. This is a new different. I hope gen z gets hooked like us Betty 's.
Yeah it’s a difficult thing. I don’t blame anyone who has a problem with the campaign.
Ya I can see it being sent to a younger audience. I love the Chosen and I am with Dallas and crew till the end. I am going to be 35 this May so I am younger. I've watched the show with my mom sometimes. Trying to get my sister to watch it. But she has a two year old tolder. Love her so much! The add is not what I'd have picked first, but again you can't argue with numbers if it gets more people interested in the show. I thought the defacement adds were real and I told my sister this morning. We should pray for success filming their third season!
This marketing ploy reminds me of something my church did. They set up a coffee shop just for non Christians. Our 17 year old and others turned up to help and they were turned away from the church building as they might ‘scare off the non Christian kids’. That’s disgusting. The rest of the world have their coffee shops and bars and our kids need to feel safe and welcomed to our church building just as everyone else does.
It’s the same with this. Elsewhere the world has its tv with all its worldliness and foulness. The chosen is pure and of God. Now we have an advert using Satan to promote the story of Jesus. Dallas has said in the comments that our donations were not donations but we gave to a profit making business and they can do with the money as they like. This advertising is not for Christians but for non Christians he says.
Last I knew - non Christians were coming to The Chosen in droves anyway.
Dallas and his team provided the loaves and fishes and the HOLY SPIRIT provided the viewers.
They are pushing away the hand that feeds them and it’s heartbreaking.
The problem is some Christians don’t believe in Satan which is a work of Satan.
Since when did the Bible not become sufficient enough to draw and equip people to a life of faith?
Haha so funny! I didn’t know I was a Betty! 😱
Argghh!
They should try this add, why not!
I will watch now! 🕊
Let us know what you think. Seems like people are polarized right now about it. Those that have watched it anyway.
That is what my mother called me until I told her I didn't like it.
Millennial here. This ad was a stroke of genius.
😂 yeah it’s been an interesting response for sure.
Until I listened to your video, I thought what the chosen did was sketchy, now, if this helps to reach the younger or unreachable...all for His glory!!!
It was The chosen own marketing strategy to get our teenagers to watch lol
I love it! Well thought out vido, thank you!!
I agree with you! It was a great idea! Bravo!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Let us know your favorite part 😂
"It makes me want to be more like that Jesus guy." Was my favorite! 😁👏👏👏❤️
You got me there for a second! As I texted Dallas after the video message he sent this morning, maybe this will be the nudge my anti-Jesus family needs in order to watch the show. My gushing about The Chosen certainly hasn't worked. Now I need to keep my mouth shut about this ad, otherwise it'll backfire. Maybe I need to pull a Brandon Snipe, lol! Praying that it and the authentic Jesus will reach and touch its intended audience.
😂 yeah I think it’s interesting for sure, we’ll see how it pans out over the next few days
Just watched and had to say it is hysterical!
Will go watch again!
Love it! Brilliant!
Very well done! Reminds me of the Screwtape Letters! 👍💜
How anyone could be offended is beyond me!
😄😃Thanks for sharing!
Hope it works!
G'day, Joolz! I was just going to write that it reminded me of "The Screwtape Letters" and then I read your comment.
As someone that respects marketing and business tactics and is myself gen Z, this was and will be affective to get people to watch the show. As a Christian however, I believe this compromised the Message of the Gospel in a big way and made light of hell and Satan.
Something we s Christians should be combating every day is to show the world that the true consequences for sin are immeasurably worse than you could ever imagine and there really is an active deceiver that, while already lost, wants to steal every person away from the living Jesus. I'm not condemning the chosen on this issue, and I still find the show both fun/entertaining and useful as an evangelistic tool. I just think it's unwise to show the people you want to share the Gospel with a False image of hell and demons that honestly kinda makes Hell look fun and rebellious; and even then if the marketing works and they watch the Chosen they may think that image of Hell isn't so bad as to actually accept Jesus (even if they think this subconsciously).
I love The Chosen and The Snipe Life. I also think that The Chosen’s new campaign puts a smile on my face
I am almost in the group called "betty's" but I have fully understood the marketing strategy from day one. I thought it was done very well.
I stopped watching the Chosen after the Christmas special movie. It did not proclaim the Gospel at all and all the musicians are muddy in words in speaking the Gospel. I have many reasons now to not watch it and I now see diversity of many Christian faiths as bad- because it takes into consideration of diversity first than the truth of the Gospel. The show is about reaching lost people right? How can the audience know what to do in order to be saved?
I've noticed that too. Whenever they have the opportunity to quote scripture passages from the Bible, they don't. Then too, when the shepherds encountered the angels, it reminded me more of reenactments of people's encounters with extraterrestrials on Ancient Aliens, than any other Biblical drama I've ever seen. lol smh
My great niece is 18 and a senior in high school. When she landed a job working weekends, she could no longer attend church with me. She then asked if we could do a Bible study. We have been watching The Chosen and she willingly dove in. We are using scripture and and I am cramming her head full memory verses to prepare her for college. She thought the ad was hysterical. I also run a pregnancy care center and we are using The Chosen as one option for earning mommy money credits to use toward "purchasing" cribs, nigh chairs, etc. Reaching Gen Z in a tiny corner of Maine.
Betty-who-loves-the-ad. Oh, Sorry...
Cynthia
You actually won this argument as your title drew me in. Nicely done and well explained. Glad The Chosen doesn't feel hamstrung by a group they are not after.
Thanks for watching lol. Sorry to pull you in that way, but glad you’re here
Thanks, your video actually demonstrates what I think this show is doing, challenging "high brow" Christianity by getting to the heart of the matter. I like it, and I'm old so even an old dog can catch a new bone!
Went to the website and watched the video. It was hilarious!
Amen! First part that you said, I will watch to the end😁
Lol make sure to watch all of it to get our full perspective 😂
It just keeps getting worse! Mockery at it's core!
We are to live and walk in righteousness!
Personally this is deeply concerning to me. I personally will not be watching the Chosen. However I do hope that it bring glory to God. It's my own conscience will not allow me to watch this. This show is not for me. And I am within the 15-25 age range just FYI.
Personally I was shocked at first not realizing it was their marketing, that someone would do such a thing, but I did not feel stupid when I found out! I think if it reaches 1 teenager or college student it was worth it! I watched the campaign and thought it was funny! I’m in the Betty’s age group and still found it entertaining! I will still love and support the chosen!
The sort of person who would be converted by this unfunny, derivative marketing ploy, and series in general, is the sort of person who would fall for anything and open their wallet for even the weakest sales pitch.
Getting moms to suggest it is my Favorite LOL moment! Im a mom trying to get my 19 yo to watch and its not easy...I think its hilarious
Right?? I’m doing the same with my 22 yo but we know that prayer works, Amen? We’ve raised them up right and we know they will come back to Jesus !! ♥️🙏🏻♥️
I'm 19 years old and I'm the one who introduce the Chosen on my Mom and Dad 😊 Edit: I'm praying that they will be interested more and more in this show
I agree 100% I am a mom of 3 Gen Zers. I have been successful in getting them to watch the show, but these ads were spot on. They loved them. The comment last night was " it's like Studio C meets The Chosen" And then on today's ad Natalie from Studio C was in it! They went insane.
That’s so fun!!
Oh, boy... Honestly, getting Mormons involved was arguably the WORST decision Dallas could make. Those with money have say, and the Mormons are likely tweaking this in the manner of boiling frogs.
Brandon I am 67 yrs old HaHa a Betty. And I think it is Genius. Extreme times call for Extreme measures. Someone needs to reach this generation and if this is put in God's hands to do so then Great. This is a evil world and let draw out the good in these lost kids and adults. The Chosen and Angel Studios is on the right track. Thank you 😊
I am a part of the Gen Z generation. And I think this is a great way of marketing. People are so involved with evil that I think this is a good mouse trap for my generation. A mouse trap that will set you free for ever. If that makes any sense lol
😂 good way to put it.
@@TheSnipeLife Fight the flesh with the flesh and then get trapped by the flesh, which means that you are still IN THE FLESH. Maybe this concept is in the Book of Mormon? Or maybe it's just the worldliness of the flesh? It certainly isn't what Christians are supposed to be doing per God's Word - the Bible! People are not tricked into the Kingdom.
I love 💘 the chosen! I hope everything is going well 🙏 😔 with everyone. God bless us all. I really don't know about this move.
yeh no worries, this is not a totally black and white issue for sure. I respect those that are wary about this ad.
My answer to people who are upset is ; Get used to Different.
😂 ruthless
My husband used sarcasm on our kids, creating a desire in them to comply. It works.
Woah, I’m so glad you clipped pieces of it YEAH! (need my creepy John emoji😭)
I just reread The Screwtape Letters recently and this reminds me of that. Very interesting, and I think that it's good to make people see things in a different light. 👏🙏✝️❤
I need to read that, I’ve heard some amazing things about that book.
I'm reading that book because both Durbania and Now let's be honest recommended it XD I wonder what they think about this advert
@@TheSnipeLife : I second. It's here in your channel I found this appropriate comparison; I agree. Do check out C.S. Lewis' 'Screwtape Letters'.
And for that matter, be on the look out for a movie-in-the-making, 'The Shift' which along with being like a "Job story", was also described as above.
I still am disappointed with the lie of someone, maybe look Chosen admin, stating it was vandalism! let's not forget that Jesus followers don't lie just to get clicks! Jesus followers speak truth with no hidden darkness. So sad.
I'm waiting to hear who actually put this together and posted before I mention it to others. 😥🦋
Of course I clicked right on this video as soon as I saw the title. Brilliant marketing job on your part. I love your channel and find your commentary to be spot on. I would’ve hated to have stopped watching The Chosen if you had actually found something of real concern as I trust your judgement. Of course this is going to be a difficult ad for some people, but I expect they are the same people who would have trouble with The Screwtape Letters. The writers obviously used Screwtape as a template and good for them. It will be interesting to see if this kind of subversive advertising campaign will work.
Yeah I think you’re right 100% many people are saying the screwtape letters is very similar
Well as a member of Gen Z, they definitely did a good job at reaching me. I just started watching The Chosen a few weeks ago because of their ad that plays the one theme from Pretty Little Liars over it. It caught my attention and I was like "A bingeable show about Jesus and his disciples? That's unheard of." I was absolutely thrilled to learn I could stream it for free.
Keep in mind, I was raised Catholic and still am. Though this show came to me at a perfect time. Recently, I've been starting to lose my faith. I have a hard time even going to church anymore or praying, to the point I make up excuses and stay home. And then this show comes up at the perfect moment. I just thought about this yesterday like, "Wow my faith was just saved because I was led to this show."
I'm only 19 so I'm at that point in my life where I'm really questioning things. The Chosen really put my faith in a new light and I finally understood why my parents decided to raise me as a Catholic. Seeing this portrayal of Jesus just absolutely blew my mind. What a beautiful series.
Edit: It turns out, I wasn't properly educated in my own faith at all. So that msut be the main reason why I had a hard time keeping my faith alive. Because I didn't even know what I believed in. This show has completely connected the dots for me and I'm very thankful for that.
I also thought the "I've been getting people's moms to recommended it to them" part of the ad was hilarious. Because I'm the only who actually recommended The Chosen to my mom instead.
Keep seeking truth. Don’t let your faith be your parents or because it’s what you’re comfortable with. Lean into the truth of scripture and allow God to lead you in what He wants to reveal to you. Welcome to the family
@@TheSnipeLife Thank you for your beautiful words ❤
I had to subscribe stumbling upon this video 🤣 had me going at first. Great content brother.
Glad to have you in the fam Mitch! 😂
I think it's sad that anything outside of the "too saved box" is terrible. I love The Chosen. ❤ Reaching others sometimes is down a darker road than the suits/Sunday best will go...
Spirit and truth. Throwing out truth just to reach an audience is no different then catholicism using the sun god to preach about holy saints.
Brandon thank you for bringing understanding to these ads! I'm in the UK but have seen them circulating on RUclips and thought the chosen posters were being defaced! Having been in marketing for 25 years, my opinion is this is a very clever move by the chosen👍
thanks so much Brandon.
Wow! At 1st I was shocked. But it makes sense to reach the generations
You got me with the title. This is genius. I'm surprised that mainstream media is so far behind in utilizing social like this. I can't wait to hear the result of this campaign.
Yeah it’s definitely a risky move lol. I mean just looking at our comments and responses some people REALLY did not like this.
It’s a good way to reach all the Thinkers like Matthew and Thomas out there…the Feelers like Andrew would be upset…but they’ll forgive it once they understand….the title of the video totally drew me in! Quote marks around it would have still been fine too haha. Absolutely loved this video it was the first recommendation after tonight’s livestream (oh YT algorithm you😕)
Woot!
Brandon, you are so smart. You said that it might have been The Chosen that did it.
😂 I don’t know about smart, maybe I’m just good at reading Dallas and Derral.
@@TheSnipeLife Praying for your channel to grow. (Didn't know I'm a Bettie. 🤣🤣🤣)
Yes! Love it! Reach reach.
Excellent review. So on point.
I find it hilarious. It’s a clever and brilliant marketing. It’s light and not scary or disrespectful. Total satire. Total spoof on Satan.
It was hilarious that he was also in the chat on the livestream Chosen special and played his role so well he even got me and piqued my curiosity to check it out. So glad I did because it’s hysterical and clever, and as you said well produced. If u approach it as such, it’s brilliant marketing and entertaining.
Ah yes, the Betty's...older women seem to have been the keepers of the flame from the foot of the cross on (while the Gen Z'er of the time was already disaffiliating, in such haste as to leave his clothes behind--see Mark 14, 50-52) That said, anything that helps even one person have an experience of Jesus, as long as it's faithful to the truth of what he is, said, and did, is fine..."Who is not against you is for you." Telling the story in different ways to reach different audiences is as old as the four Gospels, no? Always enjoy your thoughtful reflections, thank you!
Thank you for making this video. I saw a video by a Christian who doesn’t like The Chosen and he used this video, saying that it’s real and all this stuff. But if he showed the mother and daughter part, I would have known that it was fake and this guy wasn’t just trying to turn people from the show.
That video is a great marketing tool for the Chosen. If you don't get it, go read The Screwtape Letters.
I think my daughter and her team hit it out of the park with this one!
That’s awesome who’s your daughter?
The ad is fine with me (I’m one of the Betty’s - not sure I like being labeled but so be it 🤡- I hope the campaign achieves its goals - there is a desperate need to bring our young to Jesus
I did not realize these vandalized signs were marketing. Thanks for sharing the truth and pointing me to the video of Satan's lair. It was HI-LARious.
When I saw it for the first time I thought I was watching a tv now tv
But when it was explained , I thought it was genius too. Jesus came to save all his creation, specially now the younger generation that as now a days are with no direction or guidance and how to reach them but talking their own tv language
Thank you for the explanation it help to understand the why
I do not think that this is offensive really. I am within Gen z, loved the show and see how this ad could peak interest. I can definitely see how some could not feel the same way from the devil's portrayal. Honestly in a later generation perspective Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis would also be offensive. Good point Jordan!
When I was young in the Lord and I was reading Screwtape Letters, my attention became to fixed on the devils perspective and I had to stop. I needed to keep my mind on Jesus! I realize that everyone is different and has a different point of reference. God knows how to reach us all. So I’m not leaning on my own understanding. I’m submitting to God and watching what He does!🙏🏽
"If I'm 31, am I a little betty?" 🤔💭
God bless u guys 😁 this ad stuff was like a surprise didn't see it coming but I like it 👍 it's good that they're creative in keeping the main goal/purpose.
😂 you’re in the same boat as Vanessa and I. Somewhere in the middle of Betty and Gen Z lol.
@@TheSnipeLife 😄
I’m going to be in the minority here, but I was not impressed with the tactic. While I am a little younger than a “Betty”- I’m closer in age to a Betty than a GenZ at this point. I feel like this type of campaign is alienating the fan base that has been supporting this endeavor financially so far. It’s almost a slap in the face to them “we want your money but we don’t want you as our fan base- we want the young cool crowd”.
Hey! I feel you on that, but remember they aren’t really promoting this fully to the main base of The Chosen supporters. They are trying to reach a new audience while keeping their current audience invested with all of the normal things they’ve been doing. I think they’ll keep the marketing for each audience separate, but who knows 🤷♂️. I can definitely see both sides, but mostly I’ve loved the comparisons to the screwtape letters by C.S. Lewis.
@@TheSnipeLife I saw the sponsored ad on Facebook. I’m a millennial and a huge fan of The Chosen so I’m not sure who they are marketing this ad to. I thought it was funny though.
Speaking as a Betty The Proof is in the pudding. Will this draw in non -believers who’s to say. Just hoping they don’t decide to compromise the message of Jesus to keep the viewers.
I'm fine with it after I watched it. It's critical to have a sense of humor. Having a horrible day, and it made me laugh. But I know others won’t feel the same.
What are your thoughts on Jesus saying I'm the law in the chosen. I look forward to your reply.
I agree with you, Brandon. I don't necessarily like this ad campaign but it is well done and will attract the younger generation. Thanks for talking about it.
Oh no! I’m the 666th person to like this video! 😭😂 I showed the ad to my 60-something-year-old dad and was surprised, he actually thought it was hilarious.
I might be the only one but I’m a 14 yr old boy who’s been with the chosen since the first four episode and I’m also a new fan of this amazing channel.
P.S. I watch a lot of old shows and dramas about Jesus, but this ad is new, fun, and really impactful.
Thanks for the input fam
Well, just call me Betty?? I see what they are trying to do. I don’t see that it’s a bad thing to share The Chosen with my kids and grandkids but again, I’m Betty! I hope by saying that they are trying to get away from the “Betty’s “ that it doesn’t mean that they are going to totally disregard our age group. I have too many friends in my age group that need The Chosen, need Jesus! All that being said, it will take a lot more than this to get rid of me! Betty’s Unite and pray for the next generations to come to Jesus! Then we can tell them all about the cool folks on RUclips!! Love ya Snipes!
They Betty’s will always be the main core group and demographic of the chosen so don’t worry! This is just trying to add another group of people.
When I was in my late teens Jesus Christ Superstar was raising eyebrows and causing quite a stir. I loved the show and knew each and every word to all the songs. Most of the older generation at the time was critical of the show. However, much like Godspell, these vehicles were instrumental in bringing Jesus and His message to young people on a level they could understand and would accept. I felt then and I still feel the message must be shared by whatever means necessary to reach those who need to hear it. I love The Chosen and if this method helps reach the younger generation then I will support it.
how do you know that’s not what hell is like? a nickelback eraser sounds plausible
😂
I'm a "Betty"....who knew? ;-)
I'm 68 and thought it was great. Lighten up people.
WOW... what ever works!
The advert is not something I can share on my social media because the majority of my friends are religions already but haven't watched the chosen because in their eyes it's already pushing boundaries by showing Jesus and His disciples in what they see as a radical way so I think if I shared this it would put them off :/
Thanks for explaining what they chosen are doing a bit better here, I was pretty confused at why they'd take this approach but I know they are intentional about everything they do so I guessed there was a good reason somewhere.
Ok I wrote that comment before I watched the advert. I'm 27 and I actually really like it haha!
😂 I was very skeptical when the livestream began. Not knowing what to expect. Most people thought this was a legit hater that went above and beyond to shut down the chosen as much as possible. Though I can see where people would be uncomfortable with the subject overall, I think this ad is just very targeted.
I am proudly a “Bette” and yet, as my grandchildren have expressed, a cool one. Notice I even spell Betty in a unique way ((LOL). Not sure I would have gone as far as they did without making the Chosen community aware of the new marketing campaign, but I thought it was ingenious and pretty funny. I have a feeling that even Jesus laughed quite a bit when it was finished. If it will reach a new generation, I believe it will be used to do just that. Jesus was a radical in His day and many times I think the Christian community forgets that. Thanks for this follow up video.
Love it lol 😂
I think the series stands on its own without a silly marketing strategy. It’s actually a humorous ad. But it’s kinda weird cause the show is so different in tone from the ad. I actually would love if they made ads that are more indicative of the content in the show.
I am 69 and like The Chosen. As you see, I follow you also and those who comment on The Chosen Luke The other Brandon, Durbania and a few others.
Well, Dallas did an interview explaining that this is their campaign to reach Gen Z… from what I understand, it’s reverse psychology with a chance to also make a dig at the evil one himself. I was upset by it too, however, this next generation is messed up. They will do everything they are told not to do. I’ve also read some posts left on the Don’t Watch The Chosen video here on RUclips, and several people have stated that the campaign either worked for them or for someone they know, so, I think we need to step back and see what happens. I think Dallas is fighting fire with fire, getting kids interested. Let’s see how this plays out.
My nephew and son are Gen Z and I think it's brilliant. I have to say that my recommending it over and over likely put them off, as much as I'd like to say I'm "cool" I'm really a Betty. Now how can I share it with them without it coming from me???
Yeah true lol 😂 it’s hard to share it, I think we’ll have to wait until it’s cool in their generation and let them see how amazing it is.
The hour is late. If it reaches more people & turns them to the Bible & Christ, it is well worth it.
This is hilarious. I love satire.Well done. They're very wise to not just preach to the choir. I'm kind of p!ssed to be referred to as a "Betty" though, I must admit.
😂 it’s just a way to designate a target audience. Totally understand though lol
@@TheSnipeLife it was just one of those shocking moments when I realized how old I am...ha ha! I'll get over it.
i had to watch the ad before i went to your video..
when I first saw the vandalized billboards, i felt really bad .. then i saw the discussions in the fan groups. it did "stirred" the water.
personally, the concept is risky.. it's off the edge... but as you have said, it's an ad for a targeted generation...
i liked it.. i laughed a few times... i hope it meets its goal.
nice reaction Brandon.. God bless
