    Can’t how one would get confused. Think how Fallout, Starfield and The elder scrolls is similar in mechanics but also still different, this is the same thing with this game. They use game mechanics they are familiar with and turn into something new and fresh. That doesn’t mean that every game is gonna be persona like the other guy was talking about nah, that’s like saying is every game with lock on and dodging and hard difficulty just souls.

    • @Ocean5ix
      @Ocean5ix 2 дня назад +2

      It’s one thing to share gameplay mechanics, it’s a whole different story when the game is structured the same way.
      I’m fine with every single Altus JRPG having the press turn system, that’s for the better and every JRPG with a standard turn based system would benefit from it, like Dragon Quest for example.
      But then Metaphor gave me a “bad guy of the month” just like Persona 5 and told me I had a deadline to finish his dungeon and beat him at the end… just like Persona 5.
      Conclusion: Metaphor will probably be a better Persona 5… but still just like Persona 5.

      @@seniorsterling1064oh I will give it a chance. All I’m saying is that to me the game went from must buy to “wait for reviews”, that’s the chance I’m giving it, if I like what I see in terms of mechanical depth I’ll get it.

      @@Ocean5ixits still a must buy for me the game is purposely like persona (its literally got the same naming scheme) and mechanically besides jobs is an improved persona with a darker more fantasy setting idk why people are so against admitting that???? Like the differences are all improvements that if we get persona 6 will almost 100% be in that too besides jobs it even has its own velvet room lmao but its a very cool setting with very cool ideas and story so far the demo made me fall in love with it and i only see it getting better from there

    Metaphor definitely has several similarities to Persona but it's definitely not a Persona clone or just like Persona or anything like that.
    The archetype system might SEEM like personas, but they aren't. Archetypes are more like jobs in FFT or FF5. Whereas personas are more like pokemon. This is a pretty big difference.
    Metaphor is also completely dangerous different thematically, and at least it seems like there will be a big world to explore in addition to the Persona style spending your days in town experience.
    It also has a brilliant solution to one of turn based games biggest issues, having to do tons of trivial battles against weak enemies, with its real time combat system.

    • @lavenderlexy
      @lavenderlexy  День назад +1

      the archetype system to me strikes very similar to the persona 2 demon system outside of how you get them. I think it changing your weapons and other things is really cool and adds more but it doesn't mean it's not like persona. I didn't tlak much about the overworld battling because was just getting the grasp of it with tougher enemies but it's really cool! However, all of this feels like a gameplay evolution of the dungeon exploration elements they started adding in persona 5. Again, if I wanted a persona 6 this has everything I would want from it and I don't think it would be out of place. Even as an smt subseries it has more persona features than any other megaten game outside of persona.

    • @Creslin321
      @Creslin321 День назад +1

      @@lavenderlexy I never played P2, but the archetype system definitely seems to tick off every box for a job system to me. You unlock them by spending currency, leveling up other jobs, and doing other things in game. You can freely switch between them once unlocked, they all have unique thematic abilities that can be mixed with other jobs.
      I mean if it wasn't for the "persona looking" archetype attached to each job, if your character just changed weapons when you changed archetypes, no one would think this isn't just a job system.

    • @kingofsaltt3836
      @kingofsaltt3836 День назад

      @@Creslin321i think you and lavander are both right i love persona and other than the job system which mechanically is different enough (personas themselves feel* like jobs anyways) this feels like an evolution of persona with a different setting kinda how i thought smt would be when i started those games even the name of the game metaphor is the same concept as persona the social link system is improved but still largely the same combat is improved but largely the same metaphor has its own igor (that i would not be supposed if hes revealed to be connected to igor) the calendar system is largely the same, i think calling it just “persona 6” takes away from the story and setting but mechanically yeah its persona 6 (besides jobs)

    As someone who wasn't affected by "false merketing" since I didn't watch trailers or anything (wanted to go in blind) I adored everything about this game. Sure the social links and calender system is a persona thing but the game has a sick setting, great characters, an interesting story so far, the best gameplay out of any Atlus game except maybe smt v, and incredible music. Like another comment on this video said, calling the game a "persona spinoff" is like calling fallout an elder scrolls spinoff. Even if you do wanna treat it like a persona game, who doesn’t want press turn persona that doesn’t make you go to school every day and allows for actual interesting party customization? That solves almost every issue I have with persona and keeps the good parts.

    So how did they do false marketing?

  • @illusive-mike
    @illusive-mike 12 часов назад

    I don't think Atlus ever hid the heavy Persona influences in this one. Indeed, the thing I knew the most about from the marketing before I stopped following until the demo dropped was that they were using the Persona-style calendar, expanded to fit a game where the party travels to various locations, and I was all for it.
    And while the story is taking a lot of inspiration from Persona as well (though I don't think any of the modern Persona games have gone as hard as Strohl's awakening in particular, that scene is so metal it deals Almighty damage), I don't think any knowledge of Megaten is required to understand the game on its own merits. And the scenario setup that has been presented is, if anything, more SMT-flavored. Indeed, it may well be that Louis being so obviously Lucifer and the Royal Magic channeling the Great Will are just things I'm seeing as an SMT player and when the full game comes out those archetypes (no pun intended) will prove to be misleading in a significant way. Or maybe I'm right and it will turn out in a critical moment that Louis actually had an Archetype all along.
    And even when it comes to petty things like spell names, an outsider will actually be less annoyed than a veteran at having a spell named Hama that never instakills.
    Edit: Also, the common sentiment I've seen in the articles about the game is that it mixes Megaten with Fire Emblem influences, and as a Three Houses fan I am absolutely getting both the setting vibe and that "grind in Brigand for Death Blow" feel.

    Hi all, I think some people are a bit confused which is my fault. Not really great with unscripted talking. I was just saying;
    saying it's a persona spinoff is not meant to be inflammatory or negative, I just thought the description was apt.This game, I like it. I wish they were clear about it having the most persona elements in a non persona game instead of saying it's going to be nothing like megaten or persona. However, I am in love with this game and love it. That is what I am trying to say.

    If you want a fair comparison, think of this as Atlus's Elden Ring, its basically a game that takes everything they've created and learned, and puts it together in order to play around and see how they can itterate and improve on those mechanics. This game is coming out during their 35th anniversary, its a celebration of everything that makes their games unique. Calling it Persona 6 and saying its deceptive marketing is a bit too reductive.

    To me this game is litereally just persona 6 without the name. I'm very thorn on it, it sure looks good and seems to be a much better game than P5 which was also disapointing to me, much like you I stoped caring halfway thru the game. But as you said they straight up just lied about this game, they said it was gonna be something new and fresh and I got my expectations kinda high for that, but now we know this is literally persona but in a fantasy setting instead of a modern high school drama.
    I'm very tired of modern persona, but i'm still going to play this, because it seems like it's everything I wanted persona to be, but yeah some ppl are gonna complain for sure, specially long time fans, I mean i'm complaining right now, but I feel like the new fans that came with P5 are probably not gonna care.
    This just makes me very concerned for the future of atlus and the SMT franchise in general. Like, is everything just going to be persona now?

This is an anniversary game and thus will be referencing everything Atlus has done in the past. I'd also say that you shouldn't judge a 100+ hour game on a 5 hour demo. Also I will 100% say that this feels like modern Persona because it was headed by the trio that gave us modern Persona in the first place. Don't worry, the game will be peak, what happened to trust?

    It feels like a Persona spin-off. I hate to say it but I have fallen asleep multiple times trying to beat the demo. The story felt game of thrones light and the characters so far are uninteresting. Idk everyone is hype on this. And I love the Persona series. This made me feel "meh" I'm kinda bummed now.

      Honestly disagree, I think the prologue gets a bit too long but I'm in love with the characters and the setting. The themes of discrimination and right action against ring very true and I'm excited to see more from it. But that being said, it absolutely is a persona spin-off. Again, more persona features than any other megaten game other than persona is wacky

    • @phillemon7664
      @phillemon7664 День назад +1

      I would question it. Because why isn't this taking place in the modern world? Why is there a whole fantasy world with it's history separate from ours? If a Megaten game were set in a fantasy setting then it wouldn't really be a Persona or SMT game, SMTIV bait and switched people with that exact idea that it was really just a breakaway civilization that arose after nuclear Armageddon. It's like saying that Fallout 3 is an Elder Scrolls game just because the game mechanics are eerily similar even though their settings and stories are incompatible with one another.
