However, the run as a whole was explained in such a way that the programmer in me was like "Ohhhh I got it, ok. Makes sense."
Also, people in the comments saying "Noita is basically programming at this point" -- creating spells always has been programming. It's just done visually rather than with language. @@TheKd8lvt It is Turing complete. Proving that is tedious, but the naive demonstration is that certain combinations of spells and spell modifiers particularly meta slots like Alpha or Omega will simply crash the game; the crashes can be done on demand deterministically with the same sequence of slots; this happens because certain combinations of slots are undecidable or non-computable and do not halt and simply loop asymptotically close to infinitely. There's some minimum number of slots necessary and certain combinations slots which will allow us to express Turing-complete/many-to-one-reducible expressions setting the game into a deterministic non-halting state or a loop. Though it is somewhat hard to distinguish these combinations from those which simply spam the computer with an exponentially growing number of entities or events such that the game slows down or freezes in a blink of an eye because the spell expression is intractable rather than non-computable. The ability to quantify over spells and wands themselves is the key behavior together with some kind of functional completeness of the propositional wand language. There's theoretically some combination of slots which are themselves functionally complete subsets of the wand language and equivalent to the whole of the propositional fragment of the whole Noita wand language (equivalent in some sense to Noita itself).
To explain the "game crashes therefore Turing completeness is demonstrated" involves understanding how strictly finite-state logical or programmatic expressions have upper and lower bounds, and how the operations necessary for Turing completeness involves being able to include the boundaries of arbitrary finite-state-logical or programmatic expressions as expressions in the language; this allows an escape from the finite boundaries and gives us the more general form of the countable boundedness; countable boundedness and locality are the two conditions necessary for Turing completeness. What this ends up meaning is that whatever the finite-state limitations or bounds are on Noita that normally keep it from just crashing can be escaped by the use of certain wand sequences. The ability to write a "quit the program" sequence in the wands gives us evidence of Turing completeness.

Really interesting wand and impressive work. There's still however something a (little) bit unsatisfying about the setup run requiring mods, legitimacy-wise. I know wands with that many slots are theoretically possible, but I'd wish to see an actual seed in which the wand can be made. However if even in such a seed spells can't be naturally inserted without mods, then idk. Not to take away the fact that the wand is a huge prowess in its own.
Well, then you'll be pleasantly surprised because: - A person named pudy made a seed searcher for high capacity wands so it is possible to actually get a wand like that in a real run - Fury talked about using Spell Lab to insert spells but by modifying your config file you can change the UI size which makes it possible to actually see and edit the whole wand So theoretically you could make it in a real run :D
Meanwhile, I'm sitting here as a nearly brand new Noita player staring at the spells like "I don't think I've seen nearly any of those spells before..." 🦊
So wait, double checking: Step 1) Either naturally find a 56 capacity wand and a bunch of end game spells or hack in a wand with all of the spells you need. Step 2) Build a wand that’s effectively just a long line of code. Step 3) Refresh the game, then shoot the wand. Step 4) Start the actual run by grabbing the egg from the previous run out of the air and chucking it at the game. Step 5) Mash the interact button. Step 6) Congratulations, you’ve beaten the game. I just have a couple questions about that: 1) Is hacking in the wand or obtaining it naturally considered part of the run? If not, why not? 2) Can this even be done legitimately? If so, does it require a specific seed, or can it be done on any seed with enough parallel worlds? If it requires a specific seed, do you have the seed and know how long would the setup take? 3) Is this an actual category considering that step one is usually hacking the game? If so, I’m kinda confused how there’s a leaderboard. I thought mods weren’t allowed in speed runs. This seems more like a demonstration or a TAS of possibilities, so why is it competitive? Thank you so much for your time, and it was a great video, as always.
First, it's *not* competitive. This is purely a showcase of the insane possibilities of this game. This video is meant as a "guide" to show others how to do it, if they are so inclined. 1.) Currently on speedrun.com, we do not have any submissions for "egg meta" runs. We've already voted, though, and if people *are* interested in running with this glitch, then we'd make entirely new categories for them *and* the set-up run would count for a couple of the categories. 2.) It can. The mod is not necessary because it's possible to find wands with this many slots, albeit extremely rare naturally. You'd basically have to use a seed in order to find one naturally *or* you'd need to farm Great Treasure Chests or boss kills (Tiny) in order to get one. Seed: 658572190 has a 50 capacity wand in the final HM. The build I used in this video has already been optimized (it was done before I finished this video, actually) and it only uses 42 slots now, for a faster win :D We're all waiting on Alias's video on that. 3.) Already answered. It abuses a glitch to carry spells from one run into another, but the mod is not necessary. I only used the mod to cut down on time and show people how to "easily" build the spell loadout. You can just shift+click onto a naturally-found high-slot wand to build it. Ofc, very carefully. It's not competitive (yet) because we're just doing science, basically. Testing what is possible. No one who is messing around with this really cares about the competitive part of speedrunning. Anyway, hopefully that answered everything. Have a nice day!
I was mistaken on thinking it was competitive, then. My apologies for that. Personally, I’d love to see a “pre-egg” run, as it would probably help a ton in understanding a bunch of different mechanics about the game, and messing around with different mechanics and builds is probably my favorite part of this game. I also didn’t realize that wands with that much capacity actually exist, so now I know. I can’t wait to see a more optimized build! This game is crazy! I believe that answered everything. You have a great day as well!
Soon we will start getting wands in eggs that teleport you to parallel worlds so you can pick up the perks from all their holy mountains while doing your taxes.
You could probably interact faster by binding the interact key to scroll wheel if it's possible, then you'd just need to spin your scroll wheel once and get frame perfect inputs
I remember I made it all the way to "Temple of the Art" in my first casual run of the game using Teleportitis accidentally teleporting me to the exit of an area like 4 times in a row. Mind-bogglingly low chance of happening, but I can now proudly say that I got a rare achievement in my first run of the game.
It's like the palace invasion in Hunter x Hunter. A couple minutes of action on-screen, but a full season of episodes to explain everything that happens and why. It is worth every second of watching.
I love obscenely convoluted solutions in speed runs, and that wand-wrap is amazing. I hope somebody finds a solution that requires even more to get 0.01 seconds shaved off the time.
Im 6 months late but i dont think you need mods/config editing to build the wand. If you shift click on a spell in your inventory it goes to the empty space in your active wand. So you can put spells but cant discard them
You are very correct. I didn't mean to imply that using a mod was necessary. I sort-of maybe misspoke in the video. I was trying to mix together a "look at this craziness" type of video with a tutorial and how-to video. I used the mod in order to present the easiest way for people to repeat this for themselves. I wish I would have said that, but it is what it is. i.e. the mod was just to be able to do it quickly and easily for video so that people can maybe also do it quickly and easily.
Maybe the devs should add a scroll bar (or make it go across multiple rows) to wands with this much capacity since it's technically possible to get that many slots due to the very low chanche broken wand capacity that can randomly happen
I will say, while all the findings and wand manipulation that lead up to the run is incredibly impressive, I feel like a run that uses setup that isn't counted in the total runtime of the speedrun kinda defeats the purpose of a speedrun. I hope this method gets its own category so it doesn't take over the more "normal" speedruns that actually include all that's needed to finish the run in the run itself.
Once again, this should be a completely separate speedrun category because it REQUIRES a separate run that happens before it to set it up. The run that happens before it should be considered PART of the "true" run.
It is already a completely separate category. I don't think anyone who runs this game actually would *want* the egg runs to be considered in any of the preexisting categories. I don't even want the sampo chest seeds to count towards the any% leaderboards, but it's too late for that.
@@FuryForged Ah, my bad. I only remember it was still undecided the last time you talked about this. Guess I should have bothered to actually check before saying anything.

You could probably interact faster by binding the interact key to scroll wheel if it's possible, then you'd just need to spin your scroll wheel once and get frame perfect inputs
True! Although, somebody has already made a better wand that allows a “much” faster victory. We’ll have to wait for his video, lol
@@FuryForged I'd like to know who and be notified of when/if they post. Thank you.
@@KAClown I'm not at liberty to reveal that yet, but they are a prominent member of the community who posts videos on YT and streams on Twitch.
Lol. That happened to me on my third or 4th run. Had absolutely no idea how it happened and it took like 20 hours to make it that far again.
"Oh, 2 seconds? this should be short" it's 8 minutes and 40 seconds long
Not that I'm complaining
EXPLAINED
lol
:P
It's like the palace invasion in Hunter x Hunter.
A couple minutes of action on-screen, but a full season of episodes to explain everything that happens and why.
It is worth every second of watching.
This is yet another instance of something I don't understand but still find cool.
I love obscenely convoluted solutions in speed runs, and that wand-wrap is amazing. I hope somebody finds a solution that requires even more to get 0.01 seconds shaved off the time.
2:17 that guy helped me with my wand! Absolutely insane!
least complicated noita wand
Thanks for sharing this from the short video, makes way more sense here.
Listening to Fury describe the wand reminds me of that old fake technical support video where the actors just use fake jargon lol 😊
Noita devs are next level with spells and people like you are wven more next level by deciphering these spells and how they work
Nice eggsploit
Thank you, the explanation on the wand definitely helped a bunch...
Haha! I tried!
This reminded me a 20 seconds Minecraft TAS - very fast, very wtf is going on.
Earliest Video Ever Seen, 27 Seconds
Also Great Job With the Channel!
I'm in my fourth year of medicine and i still have to see something more complex than this...
noby is insane, nice person always helping out on the noita discord
When the wand build is so good it literally wins the game
Mfs not even witnessing the final boss 100+ hours into the game watching some mf beat it in 2 seconds
Noita is the greatest exactly for this reason. So much potential
Imagine being Kolmi just chillin there, suddenly a deer appears, instantly replaced by a Noita grabbin your salt, and you suddenly die

just for reference, im coming off of a 12h night shift, awake for over 24h now...

hekk no bud, but it's fun to watch.

Eggs... It is all about eggs! They are the beginning, they are the present, they allow the rules of time and space to be broken like a mud wall...
"So, how did you got that impressive 2 second run?"
"First of all, you need deers"
"..."
My brain just melted. I'll carry on suffering as I am. :D
does deerswap load chunks or its working being unloaded?
Maybe the devs should add a scroll bar (or make it go across multiple rows) to wands with this much capacity since it's technically possible to get that many slots due to the very low chanche broken wand capacity that can randomly happen
That's some really impressive tech O_o
I'm really curious what other speedrunning categories could be attacked with similar tech?
I wonder what’s devs’ reaction to this discovery
That egg fountain wand makes me laugh.
@@pbjandahighfive No-no, it's all good! Don't worry about it.
Do a instant win setup run. Build the instant wand and use it. Now that’d be cool

noita is the best game ever, seriously, just look at what u can do in this game, such a masterpiece.
since 1 egg means it auto casts on game start, could you potentialy shave off a second by instead of having to pick up and throw the egg, just having it instantly break frame 1?
I Just stop listening at some point, but stayed until the end
things like this are some of the few times I consider if video games are a menace to human progress, what could have been achieved if a similar level of commitment and problem solving skills were turned toward the betterment of mankind? (leaves to play video games)
Beating Noita in 2 seconds using arbitrary code execution... basically. Except the "code" is spells and the "cpu" is the wand interpreter.
There should be a perk that allows you to turn hollow egg/summon eggs into spells
Eggs to Power.
Insane.
Got an ad about the Gollum game before the video. Just thought it was funny to adverstize something so bad like that on a video about one of my favorite games, Noita.
"If you still have questions please post them in the comments" 🤣
I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!!! LOL
Well I was expecting something like this from Finnish game. Witches be witching, and so on.
I don't play Noita so this was the most confusing video I watched all day
i have never played this game, i liked the video
Thanks. I hope it made at least some kind of sense! lol
I hope somebody runs this at GDQ
I alwaya aprwciate a vid from u dude hope u the best :D
the ending should have been "happy noitailua"
It's here! Huzzah
There's an issue with the quick add spell in spell lab that doesn't increase the spell slots but instead just replaces the spells in that slot. Is there anyway to fix this or have some way to make a larger wand capacity?
If you want to just make your own wand, then you can use cheatGUI. It'll allow you to set exactly how many slots you want, etc.
oh perfect thank you
Great video!
This video was so long I could beat Nota 260 times
Excellent
