  • Our EarthQuaker Devices Video Manual Series continues with Grand Orbiter Phase Machine. Product Manager Cory Juba guides us through the features of this powerful audio tool and presents some very fun real-life examples of how to use it. This is one of our classic designs that has remained pretty much unchanged throughout its respectable history on the EQD roster. If ain't broke, don't fix it. The ultimate Phaser? Maybe. Life changing? Definitely.
    Grand Orbiter Phase Machine features true bypass Flexi-Switch technology, is 100% analog, and built entirely by hand in Akron, Ohio.

    The slow modes are the best parts of phasing. Too many phasing pedals miss this and miss the joy.

      Truth

    • @daemonelectricity
      @daemonelectricity 4 года назад +1

      Exactly. I like to occasionally kick up the speed, but my Vibes, my Nautilla and my Electric Mistress clone are almost always close to their lowest speed setting. Also the depth is almost equally low. Phaser/vibe/flangers are best at low speeds and medium low depth.

    • @IRieAsAVirus37
      @IRieAsAVirus37 3 года назад

      Yeah I usually go all the way down to like 11 I would have a hundred for setting speed rate then around 21 to 25 33 in the forties I rarely go hi

      @IRieAsAVirus37 3 года назад

      1-100 digital, analog rate around 3 or 4 ish,is sweet spot, for aggressive heavy stuff that I usually do but it's also psychedelic I think if you're playing at a pretty fast pace it slower rate goes with it well also even slow and sustaining stuff the faster rates I was just like too much of a constant signal phase drowning out most notations depending on your mix settings

      I know, who wants to make weird fast laser/alien noises all the time. I've been looking for a slow phaser, and people in the reviews rarely show how slow they can go. haha! man.

    My favorite phaser for sure. I love and used a phase 90 forever as it had the thickness of tone I find others lacking. The Grand Orbiter gives me everything, tone and flexibility. Plays well with others. After compressor, before gain pedals. Fucking love it.

    I have a phaser pedal (Bad Stone) that lets me freeze the LFO like the Grand Orbiter. Very useful to me. I like my Bad Stone but the EQD is just a better sounding and more adjustable phase machine. The Vibrato Mode is truly beautiful. Top notch, top shelf. It's on my list. Is the soft switching/momentary feature on just the V3 or the V2 as well? Is the V2 the same circuit?

    • @EarthQuakerDevices
      @EarthQuakerDevices  4 года назад +2

      V3 has Flexi-Switching exclusively, and the circuit is relatively the same yes.

    This pedal is good. But EarthQuakerDevices could recreate it in stereo and with one channel of the Interstellar Orbiter and a switchable circuit for series/parallel/off. Interstellar Orbiter were far way better because the vowel tones. Yes, we want a channel with vowel sounds, but with a phaser tone. When you guys do that, I will buy one certainly.

    this is what I've been lookign for in a phaser :0 I have a question about the flexi-swtich on the v3 though. Do any features on the pedal make use of the flexi switch?

    • @EarthQuakerDevices
      @EarthQuakerDevices  2 года назад

      It is the ultimate phaser pedal. The flexi-switch enables/disables everything all at once, so you would basically be using the momentary feature to bring the oscillations back into your signal path.
