So I only just discovered that many EQ pedals are named after Cedar Point roller coasters. One was originally named the Avalanche Run, then renamed the Dispatch Master Transport a.k.a Dis-aster Transport. And there are others. How cool!
I’ve been fond of EQD since I got introduced to them. I just love their focus on taking care of their employees and being proud of what they produce. When I buy a pedal, I always check to see if they can fulfill the duty before venturing out. Great video on the disaster transport reissue!!
Cheers! I really love the Disaster Transport series, so I was really happy that I got the opportunity to compare the new with the old. Both are great. And all the best to you as well :)
Cheers, bud! Yeah, it’s a wonderful pedal. The new modulation options as well as the new overall filtering of the delay line has really opened up for some new sonic endeavors 😊
Disaster Transport was a ride at Cedar Point, an amusement park in Ohio (where EQD is based). The whole theme of the ride was that the coaster was breaking down and going out of control while you were on it. Good times, used to love that ride as a kid.
I have both the Sr and this one as well. I'm a huge fan of the Sr but I'm glad that this was a little different. I can now justify my purchase a little more 😊
Exactly! I’m really stoked Jamie and the EQD gang went for a different vibe with this one. And what a coincidence we both have a DT Senior and a Legacy Reissue. Happy to meet a fellow Disaster Transport fan 😊
@@jasoniversen7124 - I totally agree on Space Spiral. And that was actually the pedal that came to mind the first time I plugged into the new Disaster Transport Reissue. I think its voicing is way more reminiscent of Space Spiral, which also had a brighter voicing compared to the other PT2399 delays in EQDs lineup at the time.
@thepedalzone yep. I would love to see a reissue of the space spiral with tap tempo. But that being said I hope they slow their roll with the legacy reissues...my wallet can't keep up
@@thepedalzone I actually think this one sounds better than the original. I had a Sr and a Jr at different times, and they were ok, but didn't quite do it for me. My favorite delays tend to be analog-voiced digital delays (Caroline Kilobyte is my favorite) and unique delays (Catalinbread Echorec and EQD Space Spiral are my other two). This one could be a contender though!
What was old now shall be new, by doing the old in a new way. Its like disaster transport rubbernecked itself back to life. Still love the Avalanche Run maybe more
I definitely enjoy this slightly new take on the Disaster Transport. Avalanche Run is killer, also a fave of mine. Very different pedal though compared to Disaster Transport
@The Pedal Zone Avalanche is so awesome. I use your tip from your vid about using the reverse mode really low and shimmery in the background all the time.
When are we getting that DTSr video? I have the Sr coming in the mail after watching this, haha. I love the intetaction between the two channels on the Sr. The reverb sounds brilliant and blends in petfectly with the delays. This new unit sounds glorious in it's own right. Definitely has Transport blood in it's veins. Seems like it would be easy to dial in a usable sound.
I might have been tempted, but the new Diamond Memory Lane beat this one. They both sound great, but the size and tap tempo on the Diamond are the key factors to go for that one.
Memory Lane is great! Different vibe to this one, as it also has a slightly darker voice. But you’re definitely getting a great delay there. Remember you can find that one as well over at thepedalzone.com if you feel like it 😊❤️
I'm surprised that there weren't more features built into this new version, tbh. Expression capability, stereo, tap tempo, and an option to stack delays (found in the Sr) or even emulate multiple tape heads in something like the Solid Gold EM III or new Boss RE pedals would have helped make this stand out. That said, the new Disaster Transport sounds great and the modulation options are nice. I'm sure it's right for the right players.
@@AndyAcker - It's a Legacy Reissue. The point is to reissue legacy EQD pedals and stay true to the essence of that device. This is a reissue of the original Disaster Transport. Hence it wouldn't make sense to add all of those things. Would remove the pedal from its legacy and would jack up price significantly. All of those features are great ideas for a new EQD delay though.
My First Love when i got back into guitar after 15 years away. Foolishly i sold my Disaster Transport jnr. I prefer the older rounder, warmer voiding, and don't need the modulation. I'm getting a used DT Jnr.
Currently planning a pedal board for more ambient stuff. I was wanting opinions and suggestions for additions as well. I was looking at throwing a thermae, enzo, hedra, lvx, big sky, night sky, Jackson audio modular fuzz, and microcosom onto one board.
You win! You get an amazing pedal no matter what you choose. But if you want a vintage echo vibe, then it's Disaster Transport. If you want pristine and ultra-clean delay and reverb then it's Avalanche Run. And thanks for the kind words about the channel. Means a lot to me! 🙏
It is for sure a different pedal. If your thing is the original, leave the new on alone. i don't think they should have the same name for this pedal. they could have create a name and said that it was based on the old one
Agreed. Kind of like how the Avalanche Run wasn't named after the Dispatch Master. It still sounds great and is well designed for what it is, but I think EQD had a real opportunity to create something that keeps up with the bevy of tape delay options we now have out there.

Yup, all of their delay pedals are named after those rollercoasters :)
Space Spiral (now discontinued delay) was also an observation tower there!
Bought one last night, thanks to you. I appreciate the thorough demo and comparison. Good job!
Deeply honored to hear you found the demo inspiring and helpful. It’s such a great sounding delay
I don't own a guitar or amp or pedals, but It's always exciting when you put new material...cool demos and videos..
Thank you! That really means a lot to me!

Yup, they are just a great company spearheaded by some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet.
Thanks for the comparison at the end Stefan! Wishing you and yours well in 2024!
Cheers! I really love the Disaster Transport series, so I was really happy that I got the opportunity to compare the new with the old. Both are great. And all the best to you as well :)
this sounds absolutely beautiful. love the fake reverb and chorus sounds in it!
Cheers, bud! Yeah, it’s a wonderful pedal. The new modulation options as well as the new overall filtering of the delay line has really opened up for some new sonic endeavors 😊
So many delay units these days are gigantic. Nice to see they downsized on this one. Plus it sounds great! Nice demo, sir.
Happy you dig it!

Gorgeous demo. Gonna go snag one after work, now lol

@thepedalzone bottom line I'm a earthquaker devices junkie. Especially their delays. They are all good. The space spiral is criminally underrated IMO

LOVE your playing and videos Brother.
Awwww, man. Thank you!!
Very cool demo. Great sounds. I still prefer the Sr, but the new one sounds great too.
Happy you enjoyed the demo. Means a lot!
Love the tones
Happy to hear that!
It's always a good time when you demo delays, especially EQD delays Stefan!!!
Thank you very much, man! ❤️

Love the Pillars shirt!
Thanks, bud! Such a rad band!
Great video and great jams! How would you compare the Space Spiral to the Disaster Transport Legacy? Is it worth having both? Or are they too similar?
Great video. Will definitely get this pedal. What guitar is that you are playing, I need new glasses. Thanks
Thank you very much! I'm playing a Tonefox Elcaster in the video

After this review I bought… special cranker! 😅
Nice one! Special Cranker rules. I also have a full demo of that pedal on my channel. It's been my go-to drive pedal for a long time.
Disaster Transport VS Avalanche Run?
Who wins ?
Btw nice channel❤

How does this differ from the space spiral?
Different delay voicing, different modulation, different user interface and different enclosure :)
Old one for sure. Thx.
Always good to find out what you like. Both delays deliver great sounds

EQD and you and I click like fast like
❤️❤️❤️
yes but its mono
You can just feed it into a stereo reverb to get a stereo spread
