So the short answer was, "Yes, that was Frank's will. However, my mom refused to fulfill it because of money, and I retroactively supported her decision because it made me more money."
"Things are more complicated than they seem." Meanwhile, what he explained was what everyone was already thinking, just with a smile and in a sophisticated way to make it seem that in hindsight it was OK for Gail to deny Frank's dying wishes.

Oh Gail without the A ... She went through 20 million dollars ... Gail did make this because Ahmet was not mentioned at all with the 2006 design she did it to get Frank's music out there but then she needed money so she wanted money from T shirts stickers anything on the table and Dweezil did not like this why out of all the sudden did she want what do you call that the souvenior product table I'm a idiot so I forget these things.. Not Ahmet ... Ahmet entered the picture when mom was out of the picture ,,, With the horrfic looking ebay commercial ... It was mainly about someone buying the house like at the time it was like 9 million just to make money for Ted's documentary ... And my intial reacton was ,,,,,,,,, Is this a joke... Then it just got weirder and weirder ... The house needed a lot of work so the price was brought down to 5 million enter Lady Gaga and I'm like what ? Yeah she had a thing for Dale Bozzio or something... Which lead to moving the vault to Iron Mountain ... And I'm like ok selling house ( which she bought and sold it within a year to a fan ) originally she had 400 million which made me go into a serious thinking mode... Frank passed away with 20 million ALL THAT WORK 20 million ... Lady Gaga bareky in the business made a couple albuns then Tony Bennett death bed records then remake movie soundtracks that sucked hard ... And 400 million just doesn;t make sense to me she has the talent of 5 cents ... But then sells his parents belongings ( by this point I'm screaming ) And then BAM I find out all this for digitizing Frank's vault and I went OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH my God I get it ... Ahmet was the hero all along regardless how I was seeing it ... They didn't say this till later ... So I'm thinking they want to make a box set BAM everything is mixed done ready to go or at least in Raw form... So Dweezil and Moon Unit became one whiny author of a book and Dweezil believes now he's actually Frank ... And just when box set comes out Dwezil Weasle performs it with Berkley students .... in your local 1500 seat theater ... End

I get what Ahmet is trying to convey here, but there’s still something missing from this puzzle and perhaps it’s his reluctance to fully admit that there are other valid perspectives and views which are incongruent with his, namely Moon’s and Dweezil’s. I mean it’s easy for him to offer a response like “Don’t believe everything that you read” when it can also be self evident that this could include the information that his own family members have relayed on the issue. In addition, Ahmet created a competing enterprise to tour and perform his father’s music called ‘The Zappa Band’ (while Dweezil’s version has been working and performing for over a decade) which sends a confusing message to those who would like to take Ahmet’s rationale at face value. I’m not saying it’s all lies, but there’s certainly more to the story.

  • @paulinebutcherbird

What Ahmet touched on and is in Moon's book that at the meeting before Gail died, she revealed she was $5 million in debt and she wanted the four siblings to give up their shaire of the insurance trust left to them so that she could pay off the debt. Ahmet and Diva agreed, Moon and Dweezil did not. That is what is behind Gail's actions, an action of pique it would seem that when she was dying she regretted and is spoken in her words to Moon, 'Will you forgive me,' which at the time, Moon had no idea what Gail was talking about.

I'm at the age where our parents are passing away, if they haven't already. Money does strange things to people. People do things that you would not expect of them. Two of my friends parents gave different percentages to different children in the family. One of them was because she is the one that cared for her father at the end of his life, the son would only visit maybe once a year. First she asked her father to make it equal, but when he insisted, she asked him to tell her brother in advance so that it wasn't going to be a surprise that she would have to deal with. He didn't. The other one was similar. This one's brother was so angry, that he insisted that she pay him back for installing linoleum in his mother's kitchen years earlier. My own cousin screwed his sister out of what their parents wanted her to have. We found out later that he was taking their money and transferring it into his accounts before they had even left their home. I couldn't believe it when I saw the bank statements. He lied and said that she wasn't in the will. She had to go to court to get a copy of the will. She ended up getting some of what she was owed, but not all. Despicable.

I just finished Moon's book. Seems like Gail had things screwed up so she needed the money Frank left for his kids. The book didn't change my opinion about Frank, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth about Gail. Whatever, my childhood wasn't easy either.

I saw Ahmet with the hologram tour in Birmingham, England. The music was fine but then he came on stage and started getting pervy with a young woman in the audience. I thought I was going to die of embarrassment. There were loads of empty seats and the whole thing was really strange. Dweezil did his Hot Rats tour and came to the same town, different venue. No empty seats and utterly brilliant band.

Having some personal experience of what happens when family ( namely, my own in-laws ) gets involved with changing last wishes/wills, Ahmet/Gail/Diva appear to have done some disservice toward Frank ( they have been using terms that are similar to breaking apart will lingo ). And, in most cases involving breaking apart wills, a LOT of jealously is involved.
I understand where Ahmet is coming from, especially when it comes to protecting a legacy. The issue of paying a one dollar " licensing fee " though seems dubious ( since those fees can be recouped through sales of Frank's recordings ).
However, In the long term moral pathway, Dweezil is in the right for this one.
Regret is not something anyone should deal with, especially when it comes to money after death.

Ahmet’s apparently loaded with talent and skills, you can tell by all of his creative and business success outside of apparently making the Zappa brand so enormous into the 21st century. His work was and is far more important to the Zappa brand than Moon giving Frank a huge single and making him mainstream in the 80’s, and Moon and Dweezil furthering the brand growth through MTV work through the 80’s (which opened the door for Ahmet later). And of course Dweezil being willing and able to learn and perform Frank’s music certainly brings little value to the Zappa brand. I mean, Ahmet gets 400 views per week consistently on his RUclips show! That’s much more significant than the thousands of tickets Dweezil sells on the road! Ahmet doesn’t need Dweezil. Dweezil needs Ahmet! Moon and Dweezil should thank Ahmet for even giving them ANY of Frank’s money! And I haven’t even mentioned Diva! Where would the Zappa brand be without HER involvement?!

ahmet strikes me as a shrewd businessman, theres some truth in what he saying but hes twisting it to make it seem better. for example, it doesnt make sense that dweezil wouldn't accept paying a dollar, obviously there was more to it than that. tbh honest getting 20% instead of 30% isnt that big of deal, seems like the controversy is the message it sends. ahmet makes the point that hes in charge of most the business affairs but that doesn't explain why Diva has the same amount also. Who seemingly does her own thing completely. But the family in general is nonsensical because Moon and Ahmet are closer than anyone now, and apparently dweezil cut off everyone
