Wcm “a kind and thoughtful person “. Yes No doubt. The word gentleman comes to mind. “ His father would be proud of the man he has become “. Yes. I’m proud of him and I’m not even his father. I remember him playing in the video Valley Girl. Just a wirey punk kid. Now he can schred and intricately play. Wolfgang Van Halen is another guy who has values.
Dweezil is one of the most wonderful people that's alive today. He's a great musician, he's intelligent, patient, thought provoking, kind, polite, studious, caring, handsome, giving, gentle, an all around sexy guy. What a beautiful human being............
One of the other three dislikes are probably Frank and ex-Dweezil drummer and Zappa vault meister Joe Travers as he doesn't care for Dweezil now. How do I know? Well, I wore a TEAM DWEEZIL tshirt to Baked Potato in LA to see Joe and a band perform Zappa songs. Afterwards my girlfriend asked if she could get a picture of me with him. He took one look at my shirt and answered, " Not with that shirt on" and he walked off angrily.
A gazillion thanks, Dweez and Mitch! Indeed, continuing (ceaseless) education is a priceless way to live. Nothing is more humbling than to appreciate the vastness of all art and science.
Dweezil IS the " spitting mind image " of his father FZ - Frank Zappa. When I first heard an FZ album when I was 19, ( I'm now 61 ) I was instantaneously hooked on the complexity of the music. It's actually a mathematical relationship, for which I'm genetically wired to see. The " tightest " concerts I've EVER attended, were FZ's. Frank Vincent Zappa will forever be known as Americas most prolific and innovative composer, as well as the most unique, improvisational guitarist !!! And yes, I play guitar, bass, and keyboards and have produced a music CD that, ironically, wasn't " commercially viable ". Ha ha ha . . .
I saw Dweezil recently at a Hendrix celebration. He was very unassuming in the mix of all the great musicians that were taking turns onstage but when he played he pretty much stayed out of the spotlight yet as far as I am concerned he was the standout in the entire show. Drummer Chris Layton who pretty much played the entire show was also pretty incredible.
Do not pay or give any funds or attention that "celebration". Please. I could not imagine Jimi ever putting his guitar away for months as Dweezil says Frank did and he himself does. Lucky kid to grow up around the guitarists his dad hired. But there is more to music on guitar than "lick spewage" (FZ's term for many guitarist's style). I cringe at the word "shredding"... Whipper is a nice guy for sure and a great drummer.
Dweezil looks so much like his dad. He produced a cover of Saturday Night Fever with Ozzy. It is EXCELLENT! They weren't allowed to release it by the owners of the original. I can't find it anymore. I think it was scrubbed from the internet.
Great interview & talk about music. Didn't know Frank played drums too but it's not surprising as he was a brilliant musician & composer & lyrical genius/ song writer.

Well, I wore a TEAM DWEEZIL tshirt to Baked Potato in LA to see Joe and a band perform Zappa songs a couple years ago. I got the tshirt after donating to a fundraiser Dweezil had to raise money to make an album. After the show at Baked Potato, my girlfriend nicely asked Joe if she could get a picture of me with him. He took one look at my shirt and answered, " Not with that shirt on" and walked off angrily. Ouch. I'm still 100% TEAM DWEEZIL and I'm not interested in seeing Joe perform anymore. Without Frank and Dweezil's friendship and his time playing with them both in bands, Joe wouldn't be where he is today. I don't think Frank would appreciate Joe's dismissal of Dweezil now. And personally I think DWEEZIL should be in charge of his father's vault, NOT Joe.
my impression is that Dweezil gone true three major total style changes ,,,the 80s which i miss ,,the 90s which i didn't get,,and the The great Fank Zappa honoring which his father greatly deserves but i think the first Dweezil is the real truly himself one
I've been struggling with exactly what he's talking about with your band only being as strong as it's weakest link. My band mate is so talented but can't seem to turn off the 'ego' thing where she can't not be the center of attention.. I don't know I just really needed to hear this
And the thing is I remember when I was in that headspace and my old keyboard player put me in my place, one of the best feelings is just sitting back, taking yourself out of the equation to an extent, and letting your band mates just play
* *Audrey H,* * - How did things unfold in your band? It's December 22nd and the COVID issue is running amok. Firstly, I believe egos have no place within a bands structure. I've run sound and lights for a touring band back in the 1980's (touring Canada). So, I'm acclaimated to a band's togetherness. Have your "center of attention" band member to watch this video. Dweezil is such a kind and thoughtful person. I have no doubt his father would be proud of the man that he has become.
Indeed!

Allways apleasure listening to Mr. Zappa. Thank you for the interview.
Dweezil has both his father’s voice and talent. Rock on Dweez!
Dweezil is a great guy. And the guy that took the interview, knows his job. Good questions, and he gives the other guy time to speak.
So happy we have Dweezil to carry on a fabulous legacy! Frank was and is an underrated genius.
Music is the best.
What a humble, loveable guy. So down to Earth,
Dweezil is a inspiration and a great musician!! Love his videos and shared techniques i wish i could afford to go to Dweezilla..
The two dislikes gotta be Ahmet and Diva.
There's a third dislike now. Who's responsible? Trump?
LOL
Ahmet is awesome!!!!
Also Al Gore and Slade Gorton

Thanks Dweezel for all that music!
Dweezil is a very skilled guitarist.
Such a rich, enlightening interview. Thank you!
He is an amazing human as was his father. Also the interviewer is also very thoughtful.
He is so intelligent!
He looks just like his DAD. Wow!
I learned alot from him in this video. Much appreciated. Dave, Naples Fl
The _GOOD_ son! Frank would be so proud. WE LOVE YOU DWEEZ !!! and don't you forget it. :D
Love this musician all the way!!!!
Great musician
A gazillion thanks, Dweez and Mitch!

Love Dweezil.
grow the stache! grow the stache! grow the stache! I would love it.
What a great interview! Such a rarity. Nicely done.
Dweezil comes across as such a likable guy...
He’s listening to the Bulgarian Women’s Choir-that’s unexpected and very cool. That’s really interesting music.
I really love the way he talks about music. Insightful.

Darn insightful guy. Very interesting stuff.
Makes me think of something along the lines of Musical Bokeh.

His dad would be proud.
Wonderful! Thank You!
10:22 to 10:26 Dweezil Zappa becomes ever drummers best friend.
Wondering if Dweezil and Ravi Coltrane would collaborate?
Fantastic interview. Very useful.
Cool dude; thx for the tips, DZ and SW! 😎
Awe...Dweezil is still adorable. ;)

Dweeilla was awesome.
Dweezil is looking more and more like Jerry Reed as he gets older.
I think that that is a great idea for most musicians... grinding out practice all the time, is not of necessity the best thing to do.
I wish Dweezil would grow a moustache already
Moon did.
cravinbob LMFAO!

You just boogie woogie
Does Dweezil drink lots of coffee n smoke Winston's?
he is starting to look like his dad
Can he get out of the chair after the interview?
spencer stewart 😂
He's less controversial than his father, but I'm sure no less talented.
He sounds like his father. Too bad he is in the midst of a new kind of an era.... :(
Anytime I see the zapa's. The one thing I know. The medical industry killed his father.
Why Mitch? Why cut the hair. Come on man does everybody need to sell out to the modern image?
