LOL it sounds like a airgun with the suppressor
I once had a precharged pneumatic airgun with a suppressor, it was pretty much silent until the pellet hit the target, just really the click from the sear disengaging. There was a way of ramping the power up to 30 ft lbs, which obviously I didn't do because it was illegal to have anything over 12 in the UK without a certificate. Now you need one for anything over 1J (0.73 ftlbs). I had to give all my airguns away to a friend who has a licence. Now all I have is an airsoft pistol at 0.4J and a crossbow (completely legal) at 124 ftlbs.
Lachlan Hamilton Lmao in america they sell rifles, shotguns and 1500 psi airgunz to anyway 18 or older at walmart.
its even quieter than my airifle with one haha
Here In Brazil you just need be 18 years old to buy a airgun without power limit but the max caliber are the 6.0mm (.23) above than this needs register.
Paintball nope, but airsoft only on 6mm
Perfectly safe until you lengthen the stock, then it becomes a dangerous weapon prowling around at night looking for innocent victims.
Note in advance I’m a gun owner and have an ar and plan to get more: US government “u want an ar? Ok sure. U want a maresleg? Ok sure, that’s a pistol. Wait no, u can’t change the stock to improve the functionality! You’ll need to pay us more for that.
@@sirkrow7118 Seems very arbitrary.
@@SirNilzey because it is. the NFA was created to keep certain guns too expensive to own, because the 200 dollar tax stamp you pay now is the same 200 dollars it was originally almost 100 years ago. and the longer the laws are in effect the more outdated they become because 200 dollars is more easily paid now, and there are vastly more kinds of guns to fall under the rules differently that just make no sense. the mares leg and the pistol grip pump action shotgun are perfect examples of that. there are ways around the laws, but you have to be very careful how you do it.
realistically theres nothing that makes them more dangerous, ballistics has proven the shorter the barrel the less lethal they are, and unless you're wearing a trench coat you're not concealing an sbr anyways. and if they're worried about it being concealed, wouldnt making a law that you cant conceal a rifle make a lot more sense than making you pay more and sit on a year long wait list to own said rifle?
and all thats is before you even get into all the stigma behind suppressors... if anything else was that loud people would want you to make it hearing safe.
If y’all don’t like the laws do something bout it
@@kyleminks6406 yeah cause everyone has the billions of dollars to pay the lawmakers, unless your one of those idiots that think your vote counts.
Video recommended 7 years later. Still watched it.
Leverguns are so well suited to suppressors, too. The whole mantually-operated action solves all the blowback lockup and gas escapement issues that pistols and gas-operated rifles trend towards.
I mean, the presence of gasbuster charging handles and boosters on pistol suppressors kind of proved the designs needed to be adapted to a suppressor, while this is kind of...natural.
All pistols I've seen with suppressors need a stiffer spring and are still loud due to the blowback and the gas escaping through the back, with the lever gun all the gas is forced out the front and you won't get any noise from the action

at 10:42 you can see the bullets mid flight. Pretty cool.
Yea it was. I was hoping they would somehow with the .357 as well so you can see the difference
It's like a paintball
Yeah you can hear from the gong that it is a very low velocity bullet.
Sub sonic bullets
To be honest, it looks like a pebble being thrown so far.
That is the most effective suppressor I've ever heard! Makes that rifle sound like an air gun.
Probably because it's lever action... the chamber is locked closed, so no sound escapes. Bolt action would be similar. On a suppressed bolt action .22, all you can hear is the hammer falling.
Shame it's nearly impossible to find a bolt action in a 9mm caliber. Lever gun in .38 is the next best thing even if it's a bit more expensive.
imagine a musket with a suppressor, red dot sight and bipod
I don't think it's possible to seal the gun well enough to force the gases through the baffles of the suppressor
black powder is a suppressor's nightmare

Wow at just that range I was able to see the actual bullet in flight and hit the target at 10:40? I think he said that was 80m? That was interesting.
oh hey walcom, funny seeing u here
Looked like it
when you spend 100+ dollars on a slowmo camera but you realize you can just use a normal camera
It's a narrow angle camera over a long distance at a shallow angle. The entire flight of the bullet is shown within the angle, letting you see it. Just as if the camera were following alongside the bullet.
That's a slow handgun round. Less than half the velocity of a rifle round
In Canada we have a few gun related loopholes. Such as rim fire cartridges are completely unregulated. You could have a fully automatic rifle in .22LR and it's perfectly legal. However, an AR-15 with 6 rounds in the magazine is cause for 10 years in prison because you're a "danger to the children"
Dude, after 5 rounds the remaining bullets become child-seeking. It's a fact I heard it on CNN.
Anything full auto is still Prohibited. Also, you still need a PAL to posses or buy a .22, so I wouldn't call it completely unregulated. Just the mag sizes.
the only thing that is different with .22 is that semi autos dont have mag restrictions. the only legal fully auto weapons that civillians can own are ones that they had registered before the full auto ban. they have been grandfathered. and yes you need a PAL to own .22s
MrDeathChicken I know that, Also, there is mag restrictions in rim fire handguns. I'm just pointing out that rim fire full autos can be grandfathered where as in America you had to register after they put in place the ATF restrictions.
yes but in canada you cant transfer a grandfathered gun. in america you can purchase a full auto reciever if it was made and registered before 1986
what a really neat and really fun setup combined with your peaceful and quiet range as always.
So so right! Get in the game lever actions are too much fun. Great video.
Love the joy you still get with each hit after all these years, and all these gun. Very cool.
I grew up in Western Kentucky, just north (~10 minutes) from the Tennessee line. In fact, mine is the only county which borders Tennessee on two sides! I always get a kick out of the Kentucky jokes, because people in Kentucky say the same thing about people from Tennessee. No two states are closer culturally...we're like brothers that don't want to admit we might actually sort of like each other.
+Jacob Wade Same here....was thinking of posting what you just did and looked to see if someone else had beat me too it lol. I always smile when I hear them....thinking about the Kentucky folks saying the same or similar about Tennessee folks. The little town I grew up in is actually in both states...you can just about throw a rock from my parents house into Tennessee.
Maybe your'e right these days??
My Grandfather was from East TN (Knoxville) and came to Ohio in the late 50s to work (Like many). One of the few things that would make him explosively angry was to insinuate in some way that he was from Kentucky. Most of the things I heard him say cannot be repeated in public. :) I really dont think people in his time and region of TN considered KY any kin....
Kentuckians are too liberal... they got out and out LIED to by MITCH MCCONNELL saying he would bring an end to Obamacare and did the opposite when they voted him back into office.

The action sound is so beautiful!
Thanks Hickok for adding to my long list of future firearms I must own one day! I need to find a way to make more money. Sigh.
This is so cool!
I cant believe how quiet it is.
Not having a blow back bolt really makes all the difference.

This is one of the rules that confuses me as a Canadian. I just bought a Chiappa 1892 Mares Leg (12 inch barrel) with a full stock in .44 mag. Bought it, threw it in the trunk and off I go. We consider Mares Legs "rifles" in Canada, though some of the boxes say pistol on it. Strange and ridiculous.....
Welcome to the ridiculous American laws.
The one time a Canadian gun law makes more sense than American. Rest assured everything else here is worse.
in between ever shot, you can expect a laugh, satisfactory chuckle, "sweet", "oh yeah" lol love the videos
That sound of a bullet hittin a metal target is one of the most satisfying sounds in the world, I got a .22 for small game when it’s an off season for bigger game and I practice shoot with it a lot.
I honestly wasn't expecting an Osprey, of all things. A very old-fashioned gun with a very modern suppressor. Neat.

This is the first time in a youtube video that I've actually heard a major difference between sounds with and without a silencer
suppressor, silencer is all hollywood lingo
@@imback3200 actually it does exist

So then they combine it with low velocity ammo
@@imback3200 The inventor of the suppressor, Hiram Percy Maxim, sold it as the Maxim Silencer. So both work
@@Chrismasterski In the law, it is called a silencer also.
Wow just awesome, I would have never imagined that combination.
Way cooler than a suppressed shotgun!! Thanks !!
Thanks Hickok, I love lever action rifles, I learned to hunt deer from my father using a lever action 30-30, still use the same one to this day. I bet that short barrel is VERY loud without that suppressor!
Love it in UK (Who most americans believe you can't own any guns) We may possibly be allowed the mare's leg set up as long as the barrel is over 12" and all up over 24" if not then NO .. BUT we can have the long stocked Modification and a suppressor with no problem or extra paperwork. all my rifles have suppressors as std
To own a can state side all you have to do is have a $200 tax stamp. I believe that allows you to carry it over state lines.
only in the states that allow it I think some you cant at all
i was suprised by what yall can have over there ar and ak with 100 round drum mags and suppressors in some us states guns like that are actually illegal
Cost an extra $400 to have that much fun. If that isn't "suppressing" the poor, I don't know what is.
Poor people with gun no no no no politicians don't want that.
Now imagine that cost in 1934 when the law was first passed! That $200 charge hasnt changed, and in 1934 that was HUGE money. Thousands today. Oh ya have no illusions, it was created purely to price out everyone but the rich.
Justin DeHetre that is actually the point of the law . solely to prevent the poor from easily, legally owning firearms. It was a step that a few hard core globalist/ socialist of that day were hoping would be followed by tighter regulations.
And a poor person could afford a suppressor and a mares leg?
no it was priced to price out those who would brake the law with them
Looks like a super fun time. Great job with the slowmo ending there John.
First time I saw the Mare's Leg was in the TV series "Wanted Dead or Alive" with the Late great Actor Steve McQueen back in the late 1950's. What a great show and firearm the way Steve McQueen handle it. Thanks for showing it off. Out.

I have one of these, and I did this same thing (minus the suppressor)... But like he says, here in Canada, completely legal! Very accurate gun with a proper stock.
I waited for my Marlin 1894cst for 9 months after applying.. I love that rifle more and more as I shoot it. A revolver caliber rifle is so much fun, and the kids love it too. No recoil to speak of and with a supressor, no need for ear protection. I will shoot it a lot, but I never want to get rid of it.
wow that must be a damn good suppressor if all you can hear is the round hitting something
A good suppressor will make a good fixed-action weapon sound like a paintball marker, and make an automatic sound like a nailgun.
a lot of it seems to be ammunition too. Whatever he is shooting is moving slow. Listen to the firing and the strike of gong.

Hichock45 is great. He's friendly, fun to watch, charismatic, knows his stuff, always teaches me something new about firearms, plus he doesn't get too preachy or political, which is a refreshing sight for a very far left-winger who loves guns. Yes, once you get left of liberals like the Democratic Party and into Socialist philosophy, we generally support the right to bear arms: “… the workers must be armed and organized. The whole proletariat must be armed at once with muskets, rifles, cannon and ammunition… Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary. ” - Karl Marx, Address of the Central Committee to the Communist League
Great to see a fellow gun lover. sad to see an economically illiterate pseudo-communist.
How pathetic that here in the land of the (used to be) free, we need special permission just to put a longer stock on a gun. I'm sure that this current state of (no) freedoms is exactly what Jefferson, Madison, Paine, and Franklin had in mind.
***** Wait, seriously? Huh. A place more restrictive than Canada. Interesting.
BlueButtonFly Canada is weird, we have more restrictions in some places while less in others, and don't get me started about the subjective classification of Semi-auto centre fire rifles, sks is fine but new guns that are "tactical black" get restricted as if they actually do anything different.
jasonjrf It isn't people successfully making simple modifications to their guns that is my concern. It's people who don't know what they are doing modifying their guns at all. I don't want Mr. "I bored out my barrel because the walls were too thick and it made the gun too heavy" putting his "custom" gun on the market three years later and it ending up in my or someone else I care about's hands.
Your idiocy is showing. This has nothing to do with my ego. I am simply stating, what is, in my opinion, a matter of fact.
BlueButtonFly I'm sorry, but not doing some paperwork in an office somewhere isn't going to stop an idiot from modifying his weapon. He's already an idiot.
