      @nævis I obviously love Heartstopper XD Also the tea dragon society is super sweet. If you want a grafic novel with more action I recommend the umbrella academy by gerard way.
      Then I really enjoy John Greens books and The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar. Percy Jackson is a classic and Miss Perigents (?) home for peculiar children is also popular for a reason. Bunny by Mona Awad is wtf horror and very strange. The series of a natural history of dragon is also very loved (i have to whole series but haven't read it XD). Geekerella and the princess and the fangirl are also very fun. And Kacen Callender writed great queer books.
      But my favourite book is the stationary shop of Tehran by Marjan Kamali. I've never cried so much in my entire life.
      Because I'm German I also want to recommend some German authors whose books got translted into english: Cornelia Funke, Kerstin Gier, Erich Kästner.

    My favourite books are dystopian romance books and I say this because even I know dystopian books can get repetitive and have some of the most annoying tropes out there and Kylie literally just threw together every single dystopian trope and stereotype and called it a day, it’s like what I wrote when I was 12 after reading the hunger games🙏😭
    Edit: what makes it even funnier is that Kylie and kenndle literally are exactly what most dystopian books are against, rich plastic people who spent millions on a one night dress and blow themselves up with plastic while theres starving people who can’t afford to buy a meal, I’m laughing so hard at this😭🙏🙏🙏

  • @katie8881
    @katie8881 Год назад +1

    There's a classic Star Trek episode called "Cloud Minders" that takes place in a foreign civilization called Ardana (weirdly similar to Indra). It is divided between the poor laborers who live underground in the mines and the rich people who live up in the clouds (like the book). One of the revelations is that the people underground are being poisoned by an unseen natural gas that diminishes brain capacity (somewhat similar to memory wipe in the book). One of the guest leads is a woman from the underground, Vanna, that leads the resistance (so basically Lex). The other is a wealthy woman, Droxine, from the clouds, the daughter of the High Adviser of the Council (so basically Livia). There's not any love but there's certainly chemistry between Kirk and Vanna and also between Spok and Droxine. I feel like this book is basically that episode but made infinitely worse. In the episode, they attempt to unpack the ways the poor are kept in poverty by environmental and systemic factors. Also, the cloud people are hilariously out of touch. In one scene, after being rude, Droxine says "courtesy is for inferiors." They have no conception of their privilege or how little they've actually earned their position of comfort. It's no surprise this aspect was left out of the book.
