    I worked on Glee as an extra cheerleader when I was 18 to look younger (I was about 20ish). My brother also worked on the same set as a student and we would sometimes work together.
    Lea was one of the lead actresses who wouldn’t even so much and LOOK at you. No smile, no hello, no anything, ever.
    The coach (I do not remember her name although I remember her to be a more known actress at the time) was far more cordial, as well as the other members of the cast and crew.
    I definitely don’t think that anyone is owed conversation just because they are sharing the same space. However, it can make for a very uncomfortable experience when your existence goes completely unacknowledged. Especially when the hours are very long and you are there for many days out of the week. A single hello, head nod or moments eye contact can go a long way. Which would be standard for any working environment. Imagine being at a job and a higher ranking employee refuses to even so much as look at you.
    It’s just funny to me that she has the audacity to put in her book and journal anything at all about work space demeanor. It’s actually quite comical.
    Edit, correction, explanation of “18 to look younger”
    I was in my early 20’s, approx 21. It’s called “18 to look younger” as in your over 18 but you look younger so you can play a high schooler, cheerleader etc for purposes of filming a show that is set in a scene or scenes that call for younger looking people. If they were to hire people under 18 the production company would have to follow very strict rules, protocol and have very limited hours that minors can work. So when they hire tv background or other roles they are classified as “18 to look younger” between casting and the production company.

    "Food as a punishment." YES! YES! YES! Of course we should eat healthy, and encourage children to do so as well in an age appropriate way, but eating should be ENJOYABLE, and not just a chore we perform 3 times a day to keep ourselves alive.
    Four years ago, my daughter (at 25) found herself at 350lbs. We realized that we both had to lose weight. We changed the way we ate, without sacrificing taste or the enjoyment of eating. We experimented more with food, and discovered so many new cuisines and recipes that we now eat regularly. We also began looking at fast food as a treat...something we have once a month, with no guilt attached to it. If we go to a family birthday, and have an extra big slice of cake, we enjoy it guilt free. I hate the expression "cheat days", because it implies that you're doing something wrong. There should never be any guilt attached to food. If your diet is generally healthy, it can withstand a couple treat days (not cheat days) a month.
    My daughter worked hard, and lost 200 lbs, and feels very good about herself at 150lbs. I went from 200lbs to 150lbs, and feel fantastic. And since we lost the weight slowly, and by changing our eating habits, instead of "dieting", we'll be able to maintain those weight losses.

    • @uncarley
      @uncarley  Год назад +17

      same! i was told that you need to dream as big as possible and if thats your jam then go for it! but also its fine to want to have a quiet lovely life too!

    • @annikania2682
      @annikania2682 Год назад +11

      A big dream also looks different for everyone, that is also something to consider. A person might want to be CEO of everything, and that is a big dream. Another person might just want to live a financially stable life with good work life balance, in a home on the countryside. Sipping tea in the sun and reading. In todays world, that can be an equally big and challenging dream to reach.
      We should just not look down on people, maybe as long as they don’t maliciously harm other people for their goals.
      Also, life becomes easier if you see that even just getting up and doing the tiniest thing, means you did reach a goal, and you don’t need to beat yourself up for not reaching that „that girl“ image or dream.

    Lea’s story about unintentionally getting a role on Broadway when her friend went to audition reminds me of a Rachel and Santana storyline from Glee, except in that case Santana is the girl who unintentionally got a big role on Broadway. There’s a lot of differences, but also some interesting similarities.
