The mattress might have stored better if, as it was deflating, the outer edges were tucked in, like they were at the beginning. Of course, none of that excuses the lack of comfort. Thank you for your fearless and reliable reviews.
I bought an EZ-Bed almost 15 years ago, we had the same issue with comfort, my in-laws who were sleeping on it bought a topper as well. I had no issues putting it back at the end though, it was always easy. I ended up building a murphy bed from a kit and lumber/plywood and put a good mattress, sure it's more expensive, but as it was never leaving the home the easy carrying wasn't that much of a benefit for us.
I have a very similar bed I use for camping, it does not self inflate but it has a mattress and a stand like this one you demonstrated. After a few uses it made an incredible squeaking noise any time we moved on it, it sounded like an orchestra of farts.
Oh, the symphony of farts. One of the beds I slept in not too long ago was a regular bed, but it did make quite a noise as I tossed and turned. Yes, it farted all night. 🤣🤣🤣

I love the wheels and case idea. I think most big tents and air mattresses should have one. It's definitely a bed to build on. Maybe in a few years there will be a better one, but it will cost double by then 😥
Being as I'm sort of "The Princess and the Pea" when it comes to comfort... I'm glad I watched your review... I would HATE that thing... and sleep would never happen for me on something like that...
Thank you, James, for reviewing this one. I've been wanting one for years since I saw it on some sort of ad. Now I know that a regular air mattress is still the better choice over the "convenience" of this one.
Yeah, just a regular self-inflating mattress + separate folding bed frame is so much better combo. Although from my previous experience I would recommend one of those tall (around 40cm) self-inflating mattresses, since they don't need to be put on any bedframe. I've had one of those metal folding bed frames and after like 2 uses it started to creak every time you did even a slightest of movements so I quickly got rid of it
My Aerobed mattress has the same divets and bumps and they are not comfortable. It probably has something to do with how air matresses take the weight. I used the aerobed with a mattress topper, when I visited my Dad. What I hated most was getting up off the floor even though it was one of the taller mattresses. Having a bed frame would definitely make it easier to get in and out of bed. I think a mattress topper is always necessary with these type of air mattresses.
Thanks for putting this together. I'm moving into an apartment (also a homeowner swinging both) and wanted something easy to assemble and comfy. This is helpful.
We have had one of these for years now and find it great. Good size and you can adjust the comfort level very easily. So simple to operate the hardest part is getting it out of the attic. One of the bestbuys we have made.
I've had one of these for more than 10 years. Mine came from Frontgate, and I suspect ones on Amazon aren't as good quality. I love mine. Still comfy, still fully functional, zipper on case still works. 10 out of 10. One thing people who aren't used to it do that makes it not as comfy is they don't inflate it enough. I have never had any issue with stability. It's not uneven in the least. I use a nice mattress pad (the kind you can launder, not a topper.) This is the bed I set up for my elderly mom who has had 2 hips and a knee replaced and has difficulty getting in and out of bed. I also have several air mattresses and a collapsible frame, and those are 10x more difficult to set up and take down, they aren't as compact, and they eventually poke a hole in every air mattress.

Every so often, we get a glimpse of just how tall you really are. It should not take someone of your impressive size to repack a bed which is supposed to be pretty much self-storing. This is one of those really great ideas which, properly executed, could have been great. Instead, they froze their mattress technology back in the 1970s. If they updated to the current air mattress configurations and fixed the minor frame/storage issues, I think this could be a winner. Really appreciate your honest reviews. I had considered getting one, now? Nope.
"Easy to put away" + the mattress pad, that also needs place for storage... I love your honest reviews. 🥰 You've saved me a lot of money, over the years. Thank you🌹
I use this at my parents apartment. We’ve been thru so many air mattresses and they’ve all broke after a few days. This thing is just a god send, it gives much better support than a regular one, and it’s pretty darn comfy too. The legs aren’t the best but it gives a great experience for what it is
We bought three of these for family events (big family). It was branded as a Martha Stewart product back 10 years ago. works well but long term use is limited to the air mattress. Two have broken now and we only have one. We used them about 3-4 times per year. It is a nice idea but the materials will not hold up.

For $350 you can get a decent sized memory foam mattress... sure it won't be as portable going forward but, surely much more comfortable. I guess this thing would only be good for if you are staying at someone's home for awhile who doesn't have a 2nd bed for you. I guess. Thanks for the review.
Could you do a comparison and review for different sleep masks? There’s several on Amazon that are different styles and offer different benefits. Would be cool to see which ones work better in terms of comfort, light blocking, sleeping in bed (side sleep/regular sleep) vs sleeping while sitting i.e. on a plane, etc. Been a subscriber viewer for a long time and your videos are always interesting and entertaining even if I’m not looking to buy the item you’re reviewing. Keep up the awesome work!
We have a queen self inflating air mattress and a separate foldable bedframe that cost less than half that much. I do put a foam topper on it for the comfort of my guests. We slept on it for several nights when we moved from Ohio to Tennessee and it was quite comfy with the 3" foam topper. We still prefer our full-wave hard side waterbed though. 🙂
I love this mattress....I have the queen size, and I don't have the difficulty as you show of folding it up after deflating. I do agree that this mattress might be hard for some people to sleep on because of the valleys but I beleive its designed this way for deflation purpose. Overall I am able to have good night sleep. The topper does eliminate the feeling of the valleys. I love that it has it own frame as I prefer not to be on the ground. Its is a little pricy but it easy and fast to set up and to put away ( at least for me).
We had one of those years ago from Sharper Image. What you do is put a 2 or 3 inch foam mattress topper on top. We were always told they couldn't tell it was an air mattress. The whole point of the inflatable was to turn a room that was used for something else into a temporary bedroom so, yes, the mattress topper as to the cost, but all in all, it's way better than a futon, I feel. And way better than an inflatable on the floor.
Hmm... I'm not sure if this will help, but when the bed is deflating, try to gently push the frame to compact it. Maybe it'll help to get more air out of the mattress so you can store it easier in the bag.
We bought this 5-10 years ago, I don't know if the mfg is the same, but our guests liked it after we used after a topper. Our version doesn't have the leg issues and it packs away easily
A mattress topper or a sponge top layer is always great for comfort. Good mattress have such a layer built in, so to buy that for the air mattress I thought not unreasonable. Good review, as usual.👏
We had a similar air bed years ago. It did not expand on its own like this one. You had to open up the frame (very much like one of those folding lawn chairs). On top of the frame there was a zippered compartment that you would slide the mattress into once inflated. It was a relatively comfortable bed, but the setup and takedown was a bit tedious, and it was very difficult to get everything back into the bag.
In my experience, most air mattresses will deflate somewhat overnight the first couple times they're used, due to the plastic stretching out from its factory shape. To me the big problem with this type of bed is that it would be harder to detect and patch a real leak if one were to develop because you can't flip the mattress around easily. It's a shame too because it would be a great solution for guests who have difficulty getting up off an air mattress on the floor.
NGL, seeing it put away was so helpful in decision making. It is tempting to get something where all the parts are stored compactly in one thing without the need for a giant tote that takes up way to much extra room. You end up storing them separately and invariably when you're cleaning out storage space, moving things and the frame gets moved away from the air mattress and you can't seem to find it six months later when you need it. I have a full size air mattress (double high) with a mattress topper and sheets that I put in a "cube space bag" all together and it is great. I also have a twin that I do the same with. I've been thinking of a queen with a frame or something for guests that might stay more than a weekend and that's why this was tempting. I may look into a murphy bed instead.
It is a great product, I have purchased two over the last 10 years. Place a base on the mattress, that is a blanket and a mattress topper then a sheet. Adjust the firmness and it sleeps very well.
definitely not a knock on you James, 100% the product, but if you have to go out and buy a $70 mattress topper to make sleeping on it tolerable... I'd just buy the topper to use on the floor, and forget the $360 TikTok bed! lmao love the unbiased video with your always honest opinion!
I have one of these beds, and have been using it over a year. I LOVE IT! I have back and hip problems and an air mattress is the only type of mattress I can sleep on comfortably. I did purchase a foam mattress pad/topper for even more comfort. I feel it was a very good investment.
Thank you for reviewing this item. I'm a huge camping fan. But as my age progresses, sleeping on the ground has been deterring me from going camping the last couple of years. When I saw this a few months back I was going to get it but wanted to wait to see how the reviews were. The putting away seems too much for me to warrant to purchase it. Now I am on the hunt for an alternative.
Hey cool, I had one of these same beds! It worked great until the area around the inflation part broke out of nowhere so it only stayed inflated for 30 minutes then you were in a hammock 🤣
I just use two inflatable mattresses one on top of the other (with a rug pad in between them to keep the top one from sliding). If one springs a leak, it's cheap to replace. I don't have the ones with a built-in pump. I use a cheap comforter under the fitted sheet for comfort and to keep from feeling the plastic.
I have had this bed for a few years. It is only used for guests but 3 years later and it reliably works great! It is not the most comfortable bed but good enough for guests to use for a few days and better than my experience with a traditional air mattress. I have found traditional ones to leak making them noisy and depending on the leak, leaving my guests on the floor. None of my guests have complained about the divots but I do not think I have ever inflated it to firm.
I wonder if something like this could be reconfigured to use a foam mattress. Those things are mostly air anyways (as anybody who has ever unpacked one from a tiny box to see it "inflate" afterwords can tell you). It would probably be a bit more expensive since the legs would be some sort of compressing robotic mechanism or something like that, but it could be pretty comfy in theory.
we've actually had this mattress for about 3 years now. Its a phenomenal air mattress, and people love being off the ground when they use it. we take it on trips when air bnbs don't have enough beds, all around a 10/10 for me if its the one off wayfair and not a knockoff
I bought frontgate queen mattress abt 8 years ago and still is fantastic. My 30 yo grandson sleeps on it whenever visits and has no complaints. and I have never had to buy a mattress pad. And it has never been as difficult as you made it seem to deflate and and zip back up. Thanks for advice but you made a big deal outta nothing 😮!!!
I'm betting a narrower bed like a "regular" or "twin" would have less bowing effect. The problem is that the mattress is supported cross-wise by flexible, cloth straps. If you could adjust them a little bit tighter it might alleviate some of the bow. That might help to pull the legs in place, also. However, no matter how tight you can get them, physics is physics and the straps will sag with weight. The greater the distance they span, queen or king size, the more they will sag.
It's really cool how it sets itself up. However, at least part if the frame lifting on the sides appears to be how that "casing" sits under parts of the frame. As far as comfort, inflatable mattresses tend to not be all the comfortable anyway. It seems like it could be ab acceptable solution for people who need an extra bed for company (maybe let the company have your bed and you take the inflatable). But, as you said it's rather expensive. I notice it doesn't deflate as well as it inflates.
Seems like a product that could be refined further, rather than an entire flop. Should definitely have been a prototype. The house I grew up in had an upstairs office with a fake cabinet that stored a queen sized bed that folds down, and the practicality of it for having guests over was amazing. I’ve actually taken it forgranted just how amazing it is to have an option for a stowaway-type bed. If they can somehow refine the mattress and the legs, it might be an amazing product. I hope they don’t get discouraged by the criticisms, because in this case, I truly do think that is just criticism, and something that can be worked on. Great review as always, and thanks once again for prioritizing thoroughness over your health/sanity/comfort. Hahaha
I bought a queen size air bed and while it's wonderfully comfortable it's a job to get it back to a manageable size. I was moving into a new apartment so was able to use the shelves to my bookshelves to flatten it each time but it took three days to do it nicely. Something that deflated and had it's own storage is appealing.. right now mine is sitting over under my desk while I figure out where and how to store it.
Another thing not shown is that the unit with the mattress pad will not be nearly so compact. The mattress pad may actually be larger than the mattress when stored. The mattress is doing very little anyway once you add a 3" pad. Buy a thicker foam pad and sleep on the floor.
A decent air matress on the floor will probably way more comfy aside from way cheaper as well. This feels like something you pull out once a year to flex on your guests on how hi tech your extra bed is.
Thanks for the review. When that bed first came out, I was tempted to get one. Now, we rent rollaway beds when needed. There's nothing to store when the guests go home!
the main use case I could think of for this is if you needed a portable/storable bed and, for whatever reason, _needed_ it to be off the ground. my first thought is for camping on rocks that you think may be a popping concern, but I'm sure the camping industry and community already has a better solution.
With how much you have to struggle to put it away, it's about the same amount of effort to put up/take down a regular air mattress. And I don't know if I could deal with the legs clunking down on the floor as I rolled over. I'll stick with the air mattresses I have.
Looking at it inflating it does look like a good product or at least idea. I have an inflatable double size mattress that sits like 3-4 feet up after inflating. My main issue is that it always seems to lose some air and a better pressure system might fix a lot of issues. but adding a mattress pad seems like a great hack to make these better.
I stayed at my wife's aunts and uncles home and they had this thing. It must have had a mattress pad on it because I slept well, but I also sleep well on a sofa, cot, etc., so maybe its just me...When one sleeps like a log, little bothers the sleeper! HA HA
I actually used this same air bed myself for over a month after moving. I only just deflated it to put it away today. I used gravity to my advantage and had no problems getting it back into the case. Instead of pushing the bars together horizontally, tip the bed up on its end so they are stacked vertically so they compress more completely.
I am a travel nurse who rents unfurnished apartments from assignment to assignment. This was initially a great investment until the morning it wasn't...It lasted exactly 12 weeks of every night use. My assignment was 13 weeks and it deflated in the middle of the night without provocation. I wrote to the company and received no response. Convenient, yes, but buyer beware...
Reminds me of so many of those old sofa-beds that were pretty much unusable so pulled the 'mattress' out and slept on the floor. Rather expensive gimmick.
I have a queensize aerobed air mattress that we've used for company a lot and it works well. Hardest thing about it is deflating it enough to fit in storage bag -- which I didn't bother to do except when we moved. it's quite comfortable.
My grandama always sasid you don't want the guest bed to be super comfortable. You only have people over that you like, and you don't want to set them up so they overstay there welcome.
I brought this mattress when I moved, it worked for a while then started to pop at the seams creating air bubbles in the middle of the mattress. It was under warranty so I got another 1 and the exact same thing happened

I carry a camping pad with me for the air mattress. I have yet to experience a comfortable air mattress (except my sleep number bed, which is the bomb!) If I had an air mattress for guests, I definitely would put a topper on it.
It would be cheaper and just as space saving to buy a foldable bed frame, cheap air mattress, electric air pump, and a mattress topper. Like under $50 dollars cheaper. I see absolutely no reason to spend an extra $250-$300 more for a quirky unfoldable air mattress. Thanks for your reviews, as always!

It was a relatively comfortable bed, but the setup and takedown was a bit tedious, and it was very difficult to get everything back into the bag.
Thanks for the video. I was curious about this bed. By the way, where did you get that cool illuminated rotating globe on the table?
In my experience, most air mattresses will deflate somewhat overnight the first couple times they're used, due to the plastic stretching out from its factory shape. To me the big problem with this type of bed is that it would be harder to detect and patch a real leak if one were to develop because you can't flip the mattress around easily. It's a shame too because it would be a great solution for guests who have difficulty getting up off an air mattress on the floor.
Never had good luck with them after months of daily use. Always leak.
Smart idea
I love ur unbiased reviews! You tell it how it is
I have had this bed for a few years.
You should have just done the mattress topper on the floor and seeing if that was better than the air up mattress.
I'm willing to bet it was.
I was hoping he would do that comparison. 😊
we've actually had this mattress for about 3 years now.
Sad to see people just market useless garbage.
Quick review. 20 blankets piled up would be better or a dog bed!😊
Id still go with an air bed that folds the size of a handbag. It seems like the size of that thing is going to cost me extra on my airfare tickets.
You know when a spider dies and dries out so the legs curl up around it? It looks like that before it inflates.
"At four hundred dollars it costs nearly as much as a cheap bed!" Me, looking at my $200 mattress, bed, and box combo: ( ._.)
Hahah that face is so cute ( ._.)
What do you have and where did you get it? I need something better than an air mattress.🛏
@@PickleJuice604 Emojis are a passing fad, after civilization falls emoticons will once again reign supreme!!
A decent air matress on the floor will probably way more comfy aside from way cheaper as well. This feels like something you pull out once a year to flex on your guests on how hi tech your extra bed is.
This is the bed you break out when you don't want company to stay for too long! 😆
I have one of these Queen size and I love it. I got one for when I have guests. Easy to use.
Thanks for the review. When that bed first came out, I was tempted to get one.
Now, we rent rollaway beds when needed.
There's nothing to store when the guests go home!
Excellent idea!😊

Thank you for the kind reply🌞!
the main use case I could think of for this is if you needed a portable/storable bed and, for whatever reason, _needed_ it to be off the ground. my first thought is for camping on rocks that you think may be a popping concern, but I'm sure the camping industry and community already has a better solution.
With how much you have to struggle to put it away, it's about the same amount of effort to put up/take down a regular air mattress. And I don't know if I could deal with the legs clunking down on the floor as I rolled over. I'll stick with the air mattresses I have.
Great review, thanks James!❤
I know james isn't one to return things, but I hope he returned this.
its pretty cool, give it a couple years to iron out the bugs and i can see this being used in a tiny home as a hide away bed
This is the bed that scam me out of my money! Paid on-line. Bed NEVER showed!!!!!
I've gone through a lot of air mattresses before, and they always spring a leak at some point. This one doesn't look very robust either...
Aerobeds are very good. I've slept in one of those. The mattress was much thicker than that contraption you bought.
It’s like sleeping on a futon very uncomfortable
You won’t have company overstaying their welcome.
I stayed at my wife's aunts and uncles home and they had this thing. It must have had a mattress pad on it because I slept well, but I also sleep well on a sofa, cot, etc., so maybe its just me...When one sleeps like a log, little bothers the sleeper! HA HA
I see you're floating moon in the background I bought my daughter one this Christmas she loved it!
I actually used this same air bed myself for over a month after moving. I only just deflated it to put it away today. I used gravity to my advantage and had no problems getting it back into the case. Instead of pushing the bars together horizontally, tip the bed up on its end so they are stacked vertically so they compress more completely.
I truly enjoyed THIS video!!! O. M. G.
Radios are so damn entertaining and this one ☝🏻 especially!!!
Appreciate your dedication!
At the end of the review, when you said all that was left was to put it away, I fully expected to see a shot of you throwing it in a dumpster.
What bed are you using now? I need a new bed. Have you tried the Saavta? Thanks, James. 😊
Hello, i currently do not own ANY air fryer of any kind or any other ninja gadget. I just found your channel as i had seen someone who had just purchased a ninja creami and i wanted to know what it was like. So now, i am going to go through your videos to see what you think of any of the gadgets or appliances or other things that i am thinking of buying! Thank you for all your work you do in giving us reviews before investing in a product. Happy New Year!
Nice always been curious about that mattress. There's an suv specific air mattress that could be fun to review.
I'm sticking with the regular air matress. It does the job. though I like the idea of a zipbag to store it away.
looks like a torture device in the thumbnail
I carry a camping pad with me for the air mattress. I have yet to experience a comfortable air mattress (except my sleep number bed, which is the bomb!) If I had an air mattress for guests, I definitely would put a topper on it.
It would be cheaper and just as space saving to buy a foldable bed frame, cheap air mattress, electric air pump, and a mattress topper. Like under $50 dollars cheaper. I see absolutely no reason to spend an extra $250-$300 more for a quirky unfoldable air mattress. Thanks for your reviews, as always!
I’d be curious to know the decibels of the inflate/deflate motor.
Well done video!! Always love watching you!!
