The show was a success because of the time. The music, fashion and society has changed and I doubt that a revival would be the same. I enjoy the memories of a great show during a great time.
There is such a vast difference in the body structure of the folks back then compared to the present. Their attire was so much more "alive" (for want of better words). The crisis is deeper than we are made to believe. Thank you Don Cornelius for a fantastic job.
The black women had a totally different style, they really owned it. The hair, they have it loud and proud is almost bring tears to your eyes. Something did go wrong.

We went out to dance and that's what we did. We didn't care about sweating our hair out. But our music made you want to dance, not making you feel angry. Not calling women B's and H's.
These dancers have a lot of natural talent, but I wonder if they spent many hours rehearsing their routines just to get them perfect. Just incredible, love to watch them all.
you have to remember the norm back in the day is when you went out to clubs it was actually to dance and people practiced routines to do. I'm old enough to remember when my uncle had those color strobe lights and beads by the walk through so when you walk through them they make a beautiful sound. When people go to clubs now its not to dance but just to look at people looking at people or taking pics and talking about others lol
We clean up the house then we watched soul train every Saturday morning in Chicago; Don Cornelius went to the same high school as did i Dusable High ; Don was also a Chicago police officer then a radio personality then did soul train in Chicago then moved it Los Angeles, California ; Don you are missed !
Steve3ri...you and these videos are everything to me this morning. Seriously, my morning had just become pointless and irritating - sneaked off and clicked on a video or two and voila! My fiery mood is back on ice. Thank you so much.
Each soul train line dancer has got beautiful about them-self; are funny dancers and have funny or beautiful hair styles and or wearing funny and or beautiful clothing; entertaining to watch them dance down the soul train line.😘↗Peace and respect to the soul train dancers and or entertainers for putting on sucha good show.

Everybody looked so trim and energetic back then. Yes, there are a few who are slightly chubby, still cute.. People dressed so cute too, unlike today where it's mostly obese people shlepping about in public wearing pajamas. What the hell happend to people?
@California Dreamer Odd comment considering that these kids never got paid a dime for their efforts, but continued to perform for years thinking Soul Train was a path to jobs. Arguably this show was a product of the death of the working class dream.
@California Dreamer Your comment was a reply to Wendy who was remarking on difference between thin and well dressed people dancing on Soul Train and heavier and sloppier-in-appearance people of today, i.e. underlying context here is Soul Train dancers, what we see on video above.
I dance like that to the bus stop ., I have a car but I have no insurance, it’s like buy a pair of dancing shoes or pay for some insurance, and still have enough money to catch a bus .,
It's my favorite band of all time. Funk. ❤ Love and deep spirituality
Yes!
This was the coolest show ever.should bring it back who agrees with me.

@@steve3riIf they did the women would be half naked & oversexualized. The men..who knows and the so called music today? Fuggetabotit!
The 70's were the best on soul train. It went downhill after that.
Hats off to the soul train dancer. They were merely paid. To honor them with a star on the Hollywood walk of Fame or just so recognition of honor
The clothes were awesome!!!!

Blacks must never again be allowed to get to this level.
Las personas de color tienen un talento y gracia, innatos para bailar, pareciera que la música corre por su sangre ❤
People actually used to dance. Thanks for reminding me.
my favorite show back then on the weekends at military school, it's what got me into disco. lived and breathed Disco for years.. best times ever! ☮
Jody & Jeffrey starting the line, I see y’all! 💃🏽🕺🏿😉

The music, the memories, family, cousins, little TVs, The nostalgia. Geeez.

1mrstutt - Nope, that's just the way people danced back then! And you'll also notice that they were much thinner and fitter than young folks nowadays.
@@wiseonwords Sitting at the computer with the internet taking selfies all day made everyone lazy & fat. These people in the video are movin.
They didnt rehearse anything, they let the music make them move.
WHAT!? NO REHEARSING ??! JUST IMPOSSIBLE! OBVIOUSLY SOME TYPE OF REHEARSE MUST BE NECESSARY! Even Michael Jackson was rehearsing!

steve3ri, I am thankful for all the great Soul Train vids. Thanks!
This is when people just wanted to have fun and didnt have cell phones in front of them every waking minute of the day
Phones on which they are typing angry, scolding responses to utter strangers on social media, on topics that play no part in their lives.
Back in those day we used pay phones
The style and moves are insane
Don was the man!!
I wish I could have been in my 20's and 30's during this time...

Wendy 1967.... I just posted an almost identical comment. Very observant girl. There's an old saying about something like 😍 minds think alike.
