As an Australian man who had no rhythm, I've loved Earth, Wind and Fire since I was a kid. This song was out before I was in high school but something about the positivity and the fact that everyone seemed to be smiling and having a great time always drew me to it. It's got real instruments and a groove you can't fake. I've still got no rhythm but EWF greatest hits is in my car CD player as I write this. Just a great, great band.

Now all the trends are about being sad and nonchalant. Top songs are about sex, living in ghettos is hard, and the clips are people doing "gangsta" stuff, being rich and acting indifferent to everything. Also, the music is incredibly bland. The "gangsta rapper in sweatsuits" trend began in the late 80's and nothing has replaced it for 30 years. It seems as if we're stuck in time. I swear if you compare nowadays trends to the 90's, you won't find any major difference, except that the quality it used to have is gone, and that people are more depressed.
Agreed. Back then entertainment was about making people happy. The movies, music, everything about today just feels too heavy and oppressive. Entertainment today is all about reminding people of how trashy life can be, instead of providing them with some sweet escapism. That's why I only entertain myself with old stuff or stuff from other cultures, but I don't want to be anywhere near modern Western entertainment.

A couple weeks ago I was hanging out with a friend at a beer garden in Austin, TX on a Friday afternoon, and then this classic started playing on the local audio system and I could notice people of all ages started nodding their heads to the rhythm of it, which made my heart happy I hadn’t even born when this was released, but classics like this are timeless ♥️
During the 70's, my father was really into Disco and Soul. He bought countless vinyls of various artists in these genres. Earth, Wind & Fire were one of the bands he truly revered and he'd talk about them a lot. I developed a passion for music but it is mainly heavy metal and hard rock (I am mainly into stuff like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Deep Purple, Richie Blackmore's Rainbow etc) but I still somehow managed to inherit his love for Disco and Soul. He sure had awesome taste in music.
There was an optimism about better days to come, a spirit of celebration, and this whole-hearted sense of love and shared humanity that Earth Wind & Fire brought to the world. It was a great era, with EW&F, The Spinners, and Stevie Wonder to name a few. Upbeat. Pure musical genius.

I think that the reason why Earth, Wind & Fire has become widespread in Japan is that it is related to the culture of enjoying the "festival" that is at the root of the Japanese people.

Maurice said in an interview that him and Philip did go back and forth in lead vocals while Reese go low Philip sing High parts and then their roles reverses over and over in a song. Then they teach the rest of band to singalong thus became rather difficult process on the stage but they pulled it off. The song is from 1981 so it's considered post-disco/pop. Back when disco was taking a backlash this band pulled it off anyway thanks to their funky 70s aesthetic. Agree to disagree, but either way this song is a classic.

A couple weeks ago I was hanging out with a friend at a beer garden in Austin, TX on a Friday afternoon, and then this classic started playing on the local audio system and I could notice people of all ages started nodding their heads to the rhythm of it, which made my heart happy

During the 70's, my father was really into Disco and Soul. He bought countless vinyls of various artists in these genres. Earth, Wind & Fire were one of the bands he truly revered and he'd talk about them a lot.
I developed a passion for music but it is mainly heavy metal and hard rock (I am mainly into stuff like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Deep Purple, Richie Blackmore's Rainbow etc) but I still somehow managed to inherit his love for Disco and Soul. He sure had awesome taste in music.

There was an optimism about better days to come, a spirit of celebration, and this whole-hearted sense of love and shared humanity that Earth Wind & Fire brought to the world. It was a great era, with EW&F, The Spinners, and Stevie Wonder to name a few. Upbeat. Pure musical genius.

I think that the reason why Earth, Wind & Fire has become widespread in Japan is that it is related to the culture of enjoying the "festival" that is at the root of the Japanese people.

The song is from 1981 so it's considered post-disco/pop. Back when disco was taking a backlash this band pulled it off anyway thanks to their funky 70s aesthetic. Agree to disagree, but either way this song is a classic.
