I didn't appreciate disco when I was a kid but the older I get the more I appreciate that there was a time when people could just dance and be happy being together and having a good silly time.
One of the best bands ever ... They were simply ahead of the pack in what they offered which spanned the genres of Jazz, R&B, Soul, Funk, Disco, Pop, Latin, and Afro Pop. What was great was how the band fused its Kalimba sound, dynamic horn section, energetic and elaborate stage shows. Their costumes would sometimes pay homage to the 70's with its Afri-American style and the outlandish Sci-Fi flair resulting of the flood of space movies. Unforgettable is the contrast between Bailey's falsetto and Maurice's baritone. What a band ... 💖
They all did meditation all on a natural high. I've been backstage a couple of times when I was in college in the 70's when they did alot of college tours back then. RIP to the amazing songstress Allee Willis, who wrote many of Earth, Wind & Fire's hits, including 'September' and this song, 'Boogie Wonderland.' She was inducted into the songwriters hall of fame in 2018. Just an all around wonderful song writer. WE WILL MISS YOU!
This song is fascinating when you really put your ear to it. The rhythm carries the melody throughout the entire song. Yet it's never repetitive or overbearing. There's a lot going on within the instrumentation as well as the vocal performances in every section of the song. No part is exactly the same. Everything in this song just seems to totally click. Great composition and recording. It's a masterpiece of our culture.
I completely agree, it has a stupendous arrangement- that staccato horn intro and the little call and response motif supported by the soaring strings all in the first few bars is breathtaking. It really should be a bombastic train wreck, but the genius of White and Bailey and the rest of the boys along with The Emotions has made it a masterpiece. I couldn't see anyone other than EWF having the musical ability and the balls to pull this off. Only Abba's 'Dancing Queen' comes close in terms of concept and execution.
This genre has definitely gotten a resurgence in popularity, with artists like Dia Lupa, The Weeknd & Anderson .Paak releasing material that heavily draws from 70s-era soul, r&b, disco and pop music. It makes me happy to see younger people digging on sounds like that, because it’s a golden tone indeed. I can only imagine what it would’ve been like to grow up in this era.
I'm an old white country boy who was truly blessed because I was in high school in the early 80's when this great music was popular!! There will NEVER be music like this ever again that has such great rhythm, heart and that is SO soothing for the soul!!!!
This may sound stupid but Soul music reminds me of the old country. The tone of the music, ensembles, rhythms all very much remind me of music from the old country.
@@musizlover2008 In that time to record a video clip mostly they have to do lipsync, thats why the instrument doesnt have cords, or the singer and corist girls doesnt have a mic. but you can search Live performances from them and the energy is the same.
Unfortunately,Maurice White passed away 4 years ago. He was an ABSOLUTE genius. He was the epitomy of "cool" and class. He created some of the greatest music of the 20th century. His kind will NEVER be witnessed again....
Hey Tom, you summed it up perfectly! M. White WAS MAGNIFICENT. He was beyond exceptional. He was the nucleus of EWF. Certainly in the top 10 of the greatest songwriters, arrangers, and producers of our time. I don't think people actually realized the profound impact that EWF music had on American and Global Culture from Europe to Africa in the 1970's thru the early 80's. There music was and still is Fire! It brought unity across all races, ethnicities, and cultures. Not every artist or group can make that claim to fame. EWF music was a Movement, thanks to Maurice.
I feel sad that most of the team members have already left. Hope they are Rest In Peace. This piece is full of joy and they are so energetic. Thanks to all of you.
Rest in Paradise Maurice White. Your music will live on forever!!! Thank you to every member of EWF for sharing your talents with us. I hope we were able to show you how much we love you all!!!

@Oral Powell Produced by Maurice White + Al Mckay, singer/songwriters were Jon Lind and Allee Willis. Music is always a collaborative art.
RIP Willis
Agreed, and it really makes one want to Boogie their ass off…jus sayin.
.

It's pure perfection .

JIMMY…....ruclips.net/video/QYIcUPkjGY0/видео.html
And still going! I saw them in college at Michigan State University - 43 years ago!

This may sound stupid but Soul music reminds me of the old country. The tone of the music, ensembles, rhythms all very much remind me of music from the old country.

He created some of the greatest music of the 20th century.

This song is a classic masterpiece that will never die out!
I dearly hope so, Christopher.
