Hey hey hey... this is Crystal Calhoun at 2:15 giving a special shout out to Leonard Younger for reposting this video from K.O. Storm. I never saw this clip, not even back in the day when it originally aired. It was nice to watch. Thanks again! Oh yeah, my fabulous sexy outfit was made by non other than the #1 designer in the world Tamechi Briggs. She knows how to make clothes that does a body oh so right, lol! Thanks Tamechi, love you!
@Crystal Calhoun, thank you so much for the fun, your dancing, style& grace, and your undeniable natural beauty. I miss Soul Train. It was the best time for me. Have you done an "I was a Soul Train Dancer" segment yet? 🤷🏿♂️ I hope I've not missed it. 🙋🏿♂️😎👏🏿👏🏿🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I'm 66 and this is something important to know about the 70's.Most young Black folks were built like this physically back then, even if they weren't Soull Train dancers. The diet, lack of exercise outdoors, and other unknown factors have lead to a rise in obesity amongst young Americans, not just young Black people. The majority of us 70's teenagers went from High School graduation to at least 40 years, old with reasonably fit height to weight ratios. Something over time has drastically changed in the American diet and lifestyle affecting weight, and people really don't seem to be aware of it at all. There are some people who are fit now, athletes, dancers, models, etc. But,the general population is overweight much earlier in life than people were during the Babyboom generation for sure...
Excellent point, we were outside playing and partying in the evenings so we kept in shape. We ate everything we wanted and still kept in shape. Today's society are too sedentary , always on their phones. That was a great time in the 70s to early 80s.
Agree 100%! Love watching old Soul Train videos and you can't help notice the huge trimness and fitness of the entire dancers! Not a obese one dancing! I'll walk in a Safeway today and see 50% obesity!
Phones, fast food and we used to have a lot of jobs in the manufacturing industry, those alone kept you in shape. I’m in the trades, mid 50’s and have to do a lot of our overhead work due to weight ratings. The younger folks are too damn big but they don’t shy away from telling the boss why they can’t do it though. I’m lobbying for more pay since I’m doing more than them.
You can make excuses all day and night, but it's 2023 now and the simple fact is that THEY DON'T CARE IF THEY ARE PIGS. Back then, we strove to have perfect, in shape bodies. Those days are long gone.

The lady at 1:50, in yellow, is as FINE, and as good of a dancer as all of the other ladies. They should have shown her for about 10(ten) more seconds.
