So often in these live Jacksons performances they cut away -just when MJ is about to launch a killer move! It hurts. Oh well, despite the limitations of live TV, the brilliance of MJ & his brothers still shines through.

This must've been one of Jermaine's last tv appearances with the "5". They are so tight, from the count in through to breakdown, just magic. Any other tv appearances are just playback, this is peak Jackson.

As great as MJ is here… he hadn’t even begun to tap into his greatness
Jermaine killing it on Bass can't stop watching him.
And yet.....MJ is on screen
Facts
He fucking up and mad because after this they leave Motown and Jermaine stays.
I can't stop watching his hair lol..
Can't stop watching him??? Really??? Even when editor went to Randy playing congos instead of MJ's robot?????
Joe Jackson should've whooped that damn camera man
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The exact comment I was about to make. You beat me to it
😆😆😆
I know, right? Michael just breaks into his dance solo and the camera closes in on the BONGO PLAYER! For like ten seconds and misses the best part of Jacko's routine!
Eugene Henderson Hell Yeah!!! Lmao
Michael was around for a long time. Can you imagine Prince watching this? He grew up listening to the man that would become his musical rival in the 80's. Prince was devasted when Michael died, just like we were devasted when he died and for some of the same reasons; respect and appreciation.
It's just amazing how the song in this live presentation it's actually better than the actual 1973 song
Can we just take a moment and acknowledge MJ's voice?!? I mean at every faze it was incredible. That is so rare. True talent!!! 🙌 #MJ#TheGOAT
it stand out
YES. We can.
Still doesn't get the credit for the vocals. Apart from everything else, he was such a bloody great vocalist from day one to the end.
oh my god michael doing the robot would've been the coolest shit ever!
fucking producers man...
It was, nobody had the guts to do that move on TV viewed by millions. He did it again later on soul train.....
I know Joe is like, "I'm gonna beat his ass for taking so long to get his guitar together". 🤣
Lmaooooo
Lmaoooo 🥰
Omg I can't stop laughing!!!! 😫😂🤣😫😂🤣
🤣
Im over here watching the.steps hoping they ain't mess up not funny but funny 😭
So often in these live Jacksons performances they cut away -just when MJ is about to launch a killer move! It hurts. Oh well, despite the limitations of live TV, the brilliance of MJ & his brothers still shines through.
The moves, the groove, the beat, so entertaining. The Jackson Family were brilliant. Musicians out there, watch and learn, this is what we want to see!!!!!
Ain’t happening because they can’t do it.
What people dont seem to remember...the REAL talent in this family...because NOBODY goes on TV and does it live anymore...outside of a competition show...the Jackson Five were the real deal...and growing up in the 70s, we all knew it and loved them for it.
Why wouldn't anyone remember? 🤷🏿♂️
Talent oozing out of every inch of his body! There never was nor will there ever be, anyone as talented as Michael Jackson......PERIOD
Truth Indeed AMEN
This is my absolute favorite iteration of this song... The Jacksons' strings sound so funky here and the Carson orchestra's horn section is totally on point here. Beautiful!
They are the definition of professionalism!
The Jackson 5/The Jacksons really gave some slick performances. They had it all, great music, looks, stylish moves and clothes. Very cool. Many shows I'm watching for the first time, but they're very rewatchable, and you get to enjoy the details even more over time.
TRUTH INDEED AMEN
Are you sure, they maybe 🤔
Tons of talent in this family.
Yesssss! I was thinking the same thing!
@@adriennerobinson1180 amen??
This must've been one of Jermaine's last tv appearances with the "5".
They are so tight, from the count in through to breakdown, just magic.
Any other tv appearances are just playback, this is peak Jackson.
That is just funky and tight as hell. Performed live. Not a lot of artist today can do that.
They killed it every time the Jackson's and Elvis ,ruled the Vegas strip for years.
Notice how they all bow to show gratitude to their audience! Michael never stopped bowing even after he became the KING. 😥
Their sound was so clean and on-point, without the help of auto-tune, green screens, lip-syncing or other tricks today’s “singers” use. This is real, raw talent right here. Great performance!
Gave me chills. They were a dynamic group and seeing a young Michael with those fantastic moves and voice, just WOW!
RIP Michael and Tito Jackson
The audience didn't know they were watching a legend in the making!
No white people didn't know or care at this time but JACKSON 5 mania was already in the hood..ya dig?
@@holydance4330 Oh, stop with your revisionist history. This performance was in 1974 on the most popular late night program of all time, The Tonight Show. By 1974 they were already world famous, had a cartoon series for several years, and were in every teen magazine. To say white people didn't know who the Jackson 5 were in 1974 or cared about them is a gross mischaracterization. It shows that you, 1) weren't alive at that time, or 2) weren't paying attention.
@@Po1itica11yNcorrect well in 1974 I lived in the San Fernando valley which was 90 percent white 9 percent latino 1 percent black I was in middle school which had seven black people which I was one all my classmates could care less about black artists that's the way it was I went to a few parties it was only Rock and Weed ....oh they did love Hendrix
@@holydance4330 - Jackson 5 had been famous, in both the black and white communities, for years before this. So WTF are you talking about? lol
@@BigSleepyOx can watch reactions of white audiences and black audiences there is a big difference ...ya dig?
So sad what happened to Michael. Such a huge talent.
Amazing 😍😍😍😍 forever unforgettable memories.
Hello... How are you doing.
I love these old videos of THE JACKSON 5 AND MJ
Me too
No pro tools back in those days! They actually played their instruments!
The camera man had cut away right before Mike started doing the robot & that was the part i was waiting for too. HATE THAT!
I Feel You!
me too =^/
OMG me too. I screamed! lol
@@breezy4me1 vinage Michael and we get bongos😪😥😫
There seemed to be more than one camera, so my guess it was someone up in the booth who was at fault for doing the cut away at the wrong time.
Does anyone else look at Michael and wonder, "How the f*ck is it possible to be that talented?"
Asé
True I had dance classes at school and I’ve learned the ABC dance and Stop ten love you save . And I always wonder will I be good like Micheal but that’s possible Micheal will always be the best of the best he’s my idol ❤️ R.I.P King of Pop
Bc of Joe
Tito Jackson rest in peace another great legend
Damn, Michael has been doing that spin since he was a little boy.
Michael was 16 years old. What a talent!
No his birthday was in August
Absolutely phenomenal! They could've taught Masterclasses on performing live. The clothes, the afros, Jermaine's press & curl & then they're playing instruments while dancing & singing! ❤️
I had one of their posters on my wall when I was a kid. Probably a year or two before this. I dug their hair, outfits, everything. The 70s were so great!!!!
This was live entertainment at it's best!
Live that separates men from children
Jackie Jackson was performing his ass off that night. You see how he commanded the band, never stopped singing, never stopped moving, and orchestrated the whole number. Amazing
Whoa, their mics are live! They are alive and still till this day one of the most iconic bands.
He was a master showman even at that age. Back then, performers had to deal with the microphone cord. Anyone else would be all tangled up with all of those spins!
Man he was a genius. Almost unmatched dancing talent
Unique dancing talent .
Woooooow!!!!
The SIX Jackson 5!!!!
Jermaine, Randy, Tito, Jackie, Marlon and Michael.
Raw talent in it's purest form
Man he could dance! Saw him on his Bad Tour in Houston,Texas he was simply incredible. Will never forget it. Only went because my girlfriend wanted to go. I said sure let’s go. Glad I did! Was blown away.
I've met many people who said that they went to an MJ concert just to accompany someone and end up saying that it was the best concert that they had ever attended.
It's Young Randy on the bongo. His facial expression when Michael does the robot 😂😲
really... and this '74 - it's like the early evolution / transition from disco to breakbeat/ break dance - i'm seeing the robot-/ multiple disco moves- and EVEN an early precursor to the moonwalk~! - Michael seems to be the heart of the band
You don’t take the camera off Michael.
EVER!!!
Facts
I like see his brother too on stage
This is disappointing as F to be on Carson! I would be very upset knowing what happened if I had seen this on Cher (the others couldn’t follow Michael @ the end 😄😄)👊🏿👊🏿
That was a equally talented group tight knit group...I say give them all close ups.
They're wonderful performers. Genuine talent. Michael is a fantastic dancer.
wow! MJ was already shining so much brighter......what a talent he already had.
this is a masterpiece of the human art, we have yet to understand the true value, in one or two century we'll understand better
