There is no such thing as ahead of its time. This song was created in the 70s for people to listen and dance to in the 70s not for future people. Young people today can’t grove like the 70s teenagers.
My dad said they were so fit cause they were always outside or doing something not always sitting inside on a phone or tablet...man I wish I lived in this era
The seventies. Such a great area. This song is still so strong and simple. Donna was such a great artist with lots of hits and a very good live performer. I saw her 3 times in Europe where her career started. The dancers are really good!
People ate less and were outside more. No computers or Netflix to stay inside all day and night on. Not to mention people that dance as a hobby in general are usually in pretty good shape.
Love this song. People were just cooler back then. I love everyone's unique dance moves. That is how it was done people! You missed out if you weren't there.
I was 17 years old and I distinctly remember when this song came out. I will say people took pride in the way they looked. I would use my sisters maskara to thicken my mustache, wore Pierre Cardin cologne or Halston z14 . My clothes were designer clothes , YSL, Dior, Pierre Cardin. I was NEVER turn down at any club's door. You had to look the part and you were not allowed in.
Everything came together at the right time for Donna’s career. She had the talent and she connected herself with those who wrote fantastic songs and the people who produced the music really knew what they were doing !
+joe torak At least back in the '70s, they tried and had fun with it. With all this Autotune BS and techno gimmicks in music going on today, these kids now days barley dance at all. Either they're too obese or they're too busy posing, doing "selfies" with an iphone at parties.
+joe torak Free form dancing allowed them the ability to improvise and they did it well. Just move to the rhythm and flow of the music and let the unconscious part of the mind take control. We've lost that now. Now, it is all about the "selfie". Not about accessing the uncharted realms of our true potential.
I was 16. Now 58. Look even better. I remember it all and was apart of it all. I’m so glad I was. Hip Hop came tho and was mad but could never take the luster away from the 1970’s. Still to this day. My 40 year class reunion this year 1979. Wow time flew. I had fun too. Hope I get 50 more years. Take me to 108.
This song is so damn good, it’s scary!!!!! I wasn’t born when this song came out but I seen 50 somethings getting down to it at an party once. They had some serious moves too!
Donna! Donna! Donna! Have met a few Donnas and liked them all. They were just fun ladies. Loved watching soul train back in the day. Rest In Peace Sweet Donna.
Omgawd, I used to move like that back in the day. They were all so skinny, nimble and amazing moves. The ladies make it look easy and effortless in bell bottoms and platform shoes. Don't know how the guys can dance in platform shoes? If I had to dance like that now, my hips would be out of joint, knees would pop, break ankles! Love the 70s and 80s, music and dancing so much fun, you could sing with the songs while you dance, unlike today's music, I can't understand some of the songs. Bring back 70s and 80s music please.
@@funkg Why have you taken issue with the fact that he said he is white? Is it now wrong to say you are white? Chances are if he said he was black you might not have had thing to say. This is not a black world.
@@joelgreene767 In the UK, its nonsensical to say 'I'm a white person who enjoys rap/soul/disco/reggae' or classic Soul Train as black music has always been popular with the (white) British. For example the Queens uncle loved jazz and calypso music, and so did her sister. During the late 1960s/70s, most of the reggae music which hit number one in the national charts was bought by white people, not black. Why? There were relatively few black people in the UK at the time, who could send reggae music to number one. Same with soul music, disco and even rap. At school it was a given, that many of my white friends enjoyed rap/soul/reggae etc. To me it's as nonsensical as a black person saying they enjoy Country music as if that was unusual, as country music is very popular in the Caribbean.
@@funkg You see, I think we have grown overly sensitive to the mere mention of anything outside our group. It seems now to be at a point where we are always poised for combat over the issue.
There is a great autobiographical book written by Donna. It's called "Ordinary Girl". It is a very description of her whole life. I read the book and would read it again.
reminds me of saturday mornings in cleveland seeing the new dances and the latest clothes. could'nt wait to get to school to see who was having the house party the next friday!
They may all look ridiculous, but my Gosh, they're happy and true. I'd love to see a modern equivalent for our current younger generation. Dance is the physical expression of joy, and nightclubs are closing... Sad times. We must be prepared to die for the right to dance exuberantly and whenever. FOR DANCE IS CELLULAR OSCILLATING PERFECT VECTORS OF HAPPINESS.
NO its from 1977, early 70s clothes and dance styles were different. Also you can tell its from 77, because people are wearing straight leg pants and pants tucked into dingo boots
IMO the guy at 2:08 has hints of the dance style that is most appropriate for this song (the movements should flow smoothly, but always match the beat in that there is no stoppage or slowdown whatsoever, with seamless transitions). Special mention to the guy at 2:51 as well.
I absolutely hate those comments that are like "omg back then was so cool today sucks" but I do like this let's bring this back and leave the rest of the 70's behind we don't need all of it. just this
real boobs,,, real hair,, real music,, real dancing,, real, fun ppl..... NO internet,,NO cell phones,, no fake tv shows.... damn want this era back,,,, ppl were nice, cool and funky
This song was so ahead of its time in this time period of the 70's.

loving the fashion of this era. and can't help but notice how active, fit, and healthy the dancers appear.
I don't see that yet. In fact, if that is a little true, it would be that the 70's influence in 80's fashions were strong.
Wasn’t that we were fit and healthy. We just didn’t have too much to eat. Parents worked like dogs for every bite. But yeah, we looked good JJ. 😎

Rest in peace, Donna Summer.....thanks for all the great music and memories; including this masterpiece!
The genius of I Feel Love is that even decades later it still sounds absolutely current...
Donna Summer was on another planet when she made this song she brought dancing to another level
Tecnicaly was Giorgio Moroder
@@giacomoravaglioli4281 No, it was Donna Summer. Always trying to give the white man credit.
@user-ht4cx8zp1e she programmed the synths, drums, audio engineering? Mixing console?

joe torak wrong! The girl in purple clothes at 0:14 knows the perfect dance steps for this song!
LOL . The kids on Soul Train are now watching their dance moves on RUclips and reminiscing about the good funky years.
No disrespect to Donna. But that sound was all Giorgio Moroder.
Great dancers and Great Song! Donna Forever 💖
The chick @ 0:14: *THAT'S IT SISTA!!* *GET IT GIRL*!!
Her rhythm couldn't be more perfect, but then again, we ARE a rhythmic people.
Wow! What great memories...we were teens and dancing meant everything to us.
Mo. . .the beautiful one!
I love this Hi-Nrg Early House
this version was the allegedly the first time EDM music was introduced. this core progression is used in almost every EDM song up until the 2000's.

The girl flailing around at 2:09 is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on Soul Train.

Folks have no idea how important this song is....influenced a while generation of music since it was released during the summer of '77.

The key to dancing to I Feel Love and not to follow that crazy fast synth bass but to lock in on the kick and slap snare
