Very true, the was a true perfection. We musicians know what he means when he says back to the top and going right to the bridge. It’s on the one, the two drummers are playing different parts and it’s hard to put any timing to it but it sounds incredible.
I saw him in 1972, one year after this video was recorded, and I think the time frame (1970-1975) was probably the peak of his powers, he was, in a word, mesmerizing. I came out of that show with my thoughts about what was "great music" changed forever.

I have the best, wonderful story about James Brown. Student body at small private conservative college in Pennsylvania voted to have James Brown come for performance - about 1968. So we all attended the GREAT concert - with his GoGo dancers. At intermission the Dean of Women ( never married, age 60 or so ) went back stage and asked them to eliminate the GoGo dancers from part 2. 😂 He said No. We loved it.
