      Suggestion for Jim.
      in honour of Akira Toriyama, make a tribute episode on games he developed. Dragon Quest, Blue Dragon, Chrono Trigger. old fans will love it ❤
      I know those games were released in different consoles. And even have sequels . Might be a 2 part episode.
      Oh, forgot about DBZ games. Soo many of them.
      Cheers man 🍻

      Sony put most of them out of business. The main draw of arcades used to be they had games that looked much better than home consoles. Then Sony got involved and built systems that had superior graphics to arcades. Same for PCs.

    Thanks Jim for the vid and for capturing the last day of this amazing arcade! I run the largest retro arcade here in Australia, and I know how difficult it is in a modern world, with modern expenses, to keep a place like this running. Fortunately we’ve managed 7 years so far and reached well over 200 games on the floor, so it means a lot when people with reach and influence like yourself can bring awareness to these arcades which offer something truly unique in the world today. They simply will not be around with community support ❤

    It's sad to see another classic arcade close shop. Japanese arcades (even the claw machine centers) are leagues above what's available in the west. The best I've got in my neighbourhood is Dave & Busters, Playdium, and Rec Room. All fine establishments, but far from what I would consider a proper arcade.

    I randomly found this place in early Feb after taking a nostalgic visit to Omori for the first time since 2019 (where i used to commute sometimes to meet a friend). It was so cute & incredible... but also closing at 10pm and I was there kinda drunk from a good rip at a local bar & Sushiro so I took my look around and squeezed in a few 50 yen (!!!) sessions on a couple of cabinets. Over the past week or so, I'd seen the news that it was dying after it already died, so I couldn't visit again.
    Happy to see your video! Yeah it was a small space slightly off current path around Omori station, but maybe some amount of strategy and/or local relocation to give it more floor space & a more central area with some claw games could've kept it alive. Really so sad, but great to see you memorialize it, Jim. Let's hope the cabinets go somewhere meaningful for the community. Thanks dude!

    • @MadPanicGaming
      @MadPanicGaming  6 месяцев назад

      I'm hoping so. I had to go back the next day to grab something I'd left behind, the owner was there so he let me in to get it. He and another guy were dismantling all of the cabinets, presumably to put them into storage somewhere.

      I noticed since post covid japanese retro, anime, manga and arcade has fallen out of favour. Whereas prior it was thriving. We are talking 5 years now since 2019. I got a light manga in the UK dropped from £15 per book during the manga covid shortage, to a mere single £1 brand new. Also many japanese pop culture shops are closing. You can get omnibus editions for £15-£30 too.

    Here in Brazil it is one of first places that Arcades are dead. Due to expenses (inflation) and by the fact that everything related to videogames (taxation) is very expensive here, and it is considered a Luxury item, so our only chance nowadays to revive old memories is through emulation.

    The arcade world is fantastic, you can meet pepople and play with other players! Are the best place to play games, i like also gaming online but they don't make the same feels like arcades! The situation of arcades in my country (Italy) is drammatic. If you speak with normal pepole of arcades (in italian Sala giochi) they intends slot machines, some arcade cabinet are in bowlings, but very rare (there is a lot of crane or ticket prize machines...)

Its a space and money thing why i dont have "real" hardware, as much as i would love that shit i just cant haha. I know some people will say real hardware or its fake, haha i say your dick must be small, i was doing other shit when you guys bought the arcade machines up, now dont get me wrong i wish i grabbed a super turbo 2 cab back then but i didnt. Haha all im saying is half scales are just fine and still means its an arcade, trust me in 10 years or so these arcade 1 ups will be sold like guitar heros, basicly take them, but hell take them and play them and have fun, so far the ones i have im thrilled.

The Sega Arcade has been going down permanently and went out of business, and it was sad when people in Japan were so worried about the arcade and spending time playing games with a lot of fun. In June 2022, after I graduated high school back in May 2022. I watched the video say "Goodbye Sega!" Hello, Gigo! Akihabara used to be sega arcade in Tokyo Japan. The place was left in town, and they were replaced by Gigo. They get rid of sega logos, and now gigo logos are outside of the building. The video was a lot of fun that I watched and looked around inside the arcade, and you were doing the tour of Gigo arcade, and the building was awesome.

    There are 2 retro arcades still open here in Koiwa. One is directly under the tracks, and the other is on sunshine road about 500m from the station. The first floor and second floors are pachinko, but the 3rd floor is all CRT cabs. About half are porno mahjong games, but there are some other titles.

  • @Konuvis
    @Konuvis 6 месяцев назад

    I does make you wonder what happens to all those cabs once an arcade closes. Hopefully owners realizes a lot of these games are becoming rarer by the day and are trying to keep them in decent shape.

    It's matter of time till every arcade closes. Retro games and arcades are kept alive by nostalgia. It's matter of time till its fanbase dies out. New generations doesn't have any attachment to these old systems and games.

      I was playing arcade games from the 70s through the 90s and even though I'm older than the host of this video, I can't imagine spending enough time in one of these places to be a reliable supporting customer on a regular basis, despite the nostalgia. Standing or sitting by myself in a public place playing a repetitive game while dropping coins every couple minutes doesn't sound that appealing to me anymore.

    My hunch is that the owner of this Omori arcade is somebody senior/elderly, hence not going to be savvy enough to have a social media presence.
