I would have bought this then as well, but instead got an H510. Mounted a 240mm AIO in the front and it was fine, until I replaced my 2070 Super with a 3080 Strix OC. Then it got a little hot (at least while I was mining in the off hours), and I only had about 1mm-2mm clearance between the GPU and the radiator. The next best looking case I could find with decent airflow of a similar size was the Corsair 4000D airflow. Decent case, but not as good looking and the glass side panel is dark tinted instead of clear. And it looks like the side on this 510 flow is also dark tinted. Shame.

I've built about 5 H510s, and they're just fine. The trick is running a negative pressure setup. A good 140mm in the top and it's great. I also had an arctic freezer II 120mm on the back and it was wonderful.
It's good to hear someone giving a voice to air cooling and its community. I have only had a fan fail when its bearings ran out once. Otherwise I find I have a few extra fans on hand because of changes in cases. And when I have recycled a couple cases their fans were still good and I kept them for future use. And I am not a RUclipsr with a bunch of extra parts on hand. So I guess you could say only fan club I have is mechanical...
I built a competent gaming/VR rig in the H510 in December 2019 and the cooling is fine. I value quiet, and I would absolutely buy the H510 again over something like this with an open front. If needed insane components that require more cooling, the insane cost of those components would also justify an expensive case that could cool them without without an open front grill.
Well, according to gn youd want something like that lian li case that uses 240ml fans in the front cuz they can spin slow and so are quiet despite the front mesh. Easy airflow is quieter than forced airflow with sound dampening. But yeah, people crap on the h510 way more than they should
I've got the H510 all air cooled with 4 fan on the case and it works pretty well. And it's with a 5600x and a 3070, so it's not that bad. Don't remember the temps but it was clearly good with no throlling,
I think airflow concerns on the H510 are largely exaggerated. I've had the elite for over a year now and thermals have never once been a concern, even with a beefy system inside
No, NZXT doesn't make many outrageously expensive cases. But other brands make cases in the same segment as NZXT, just as price-competitive. These other manufacturers also make more expensive cases however. People see those more expensive cases and then go on to complain that all the cases are expensive. In reality, they simply don't look for the more price-competitve cases of those manufacturers.
Lian Li has more aesthetically pleasing cases in the same price range. Their Lancool 2 Mesh is the same price as this case with much more airflow and upgradability. It is a pretty big case though. If you are going to build in a small case you should expect to see higher temps

Everyone always remarks about the 510's airflow relative to its peers from the likes of Phanteks, but I've ran an OC'd Ryzen 3600 w/ a Kraken water cooler and a OC'd 1070ti and temps and noise have been just fine. Equivalent to my old H400i. I know the airflow has been tested and proven to not be the best, but honestly I think it's good enough for most people. This new model is a welcome addition for people pushing more wattage though, I'm sure.

to anyone who does plan to aircool with the regular H510, from a physics standpoint using the front slots as an air intake is completely fine, and you can get away with 120 mm on all slots. I'm running a 3700X and a 5700XT and never had a temp problem either. I believe that the people scared of the airflow never actually built in them or daily drove them
It isn't bad. It's just OK at airflow and the stock fans aren't the best. Get Noctua redux or similar for the front and don't use 250W GPUs and it'll do very well.
For that price, I'm not entirely sure why someone would go with this over a Lancool II mesh. Only cost like 10 bucks more and is just an overall better designed case. Not to mention the Meshy 2 for like 20 bucks more, which offers even better airflow than other of those two.
Some people value looks over performance. If this case is the perfect look for them, I can see someone wanting it if it has good enough air flow. I just read a comment on this video where someone said they'd still take the 510 cause it should be quieter lol

I'm pretty sure you were trying to use a radiator mount to secure a zip tie. Also, the velcro strap is supposed to be removed from the buckle to pass the cables under it, and then you strap it again. That way it will not come off.
I’ve got a H510 and I have to disagree with people saying the ventilation is insufficient, it’s perfectly adequate. I have not gone above 70C on my 3070 and rarely above 80C on CPU (except for very high CPU loads such as Handbrake)
Prefect timing. My kid wants a 510, so we'll wait for this one to drop. BTW, I still use a 2TB WD Black paired with 32GB nvme optane memory for gaming. Works well, and it's cheap storage... Although, I've been thinking about cloning over to 4TB SSD. I have tons of games lol. Years worth.
The reason that they haven't put a second fan mount/grille in the top of the case is because that bar that comes out to help hide the cable management prevents you from having room to install one. If you want a second fan up top then you have to go to the H710 series, which does a good job of preserving the look while giving slightly better cooling. They changed the shape of the bar to allow for a second fan to be top mounted (or even an AIO), and then added perforation around both sides and the top instead of just the one narrow spot on the back side. If they made one of those with a mesh front panel like the 510 airflow it would be a home run.

Can you do a test between the 2? - I've been using a H510 for a while now with no thermal issues. Has this been proven or is is just presumed by looking at it. As for the look of it - the older model looks good because of the white front. Swapping it for a mesh brings it down aesthetically. It seems that is looks a lot worse and only performs a little better but costs a lot more
Loved the video. But how the did you go all the way through it without showing the temperatures? It would be even nicer if you compared it to the old case to see the improvement.
You forgot that the old case had the bottom of the front cut out so you had a gap that was 2 inches in depth and as wide as the case. It really didnt need a front mesh with a hole that big on the bottom already. Air gets sucked in just fine by the front fans. Its biggest issue was the single top vent instead of being large enough for 2 fans or a 240.

I’ve never had a problem with temps in my h510 with aio in the front. If this case had been available at the time I bought mine though I would have gone with this one. Most mesh cases aren’t minimal enough in their design for me but this one is perfect.
Shame.
I've got a H510i and I agree, my setup is similar but i've modded a case fan into the bottom of it to pull colder air in for the GPU, but this isn't really needed imo. I just have a crazy OC on my 2060 super.
Me neither no problem at all with temps. My aio in front is ok. One thing is, i had to unmount the vertical colored plate to make space for my Asus rog strix 1070ti.
the hate train for the H510 is stupid. people took the H510 elite review from GN and branded that to all NZXT cases. H510 elite had a dumb issue to cause it to have poor thermals. Gamers Nexus gave the H510 budget case of the year. this host put no effort into even looking up the H510 and just said its bad when its far from it, lol.

Steve from GN did his usual in depth testing and turns out the H510 actually just *fine*. It's not great, but it's not terrible in the stock negative pressure setup.

I love when Plouffe shows up in a video. He doesn't bullshit and knows what he is talking about.
Does he though? Constantly talking about how bad the H510 supposedly is when testing have shown otherwise. How there should be 2 fan slots in the top of the case when there's been plenty of testing done that having more than 1 doesn't actually improve temperatures. Seems like he has a lot of opinions not rooted in anything but feelings.

NZXT seems to be the only case manufacturer around that still makes great looking cases that are very price competitive, at least in my experience.

I certainly wouldn't recommend the case for a 30 series gpu but there are several other use case scenarios where the H500/H510 are viable and affordable cases. Relatively easy to build in and affordable for first time PC builders, plus it looks great
I just purchased a 3070 today with a tomahawk b450 mobo and a kraken nzxt x53 aio. What case would you recommend man?
510 owner here and love the simple elegance of the design compared with a lot of hideous gamer cases out there ; great that NZXT have (finally) offered a solution to the strage lack of front panel airflow. My front-mounted Kraken AIO cooling a 3080 and 9900K seems to do the job but I'll be fascinated to see the A-B test you guys do with the Flow and the old case.
I've got a 3080 with a 9700k and a Dark Rock Pro 4 and I get great temps in my OG H510.
I like case reviews, and I also like this guy for that job.
This new model is a welcome addition for people pushing more wattage though, I'm sure.
wish they'd just sell the mesh panel for the front, the old h510 has a removable front panel with the same mounting for fans
I removed the front air filter from my h510i a long time ago and I get fantastic airflow. Also, a 120 on the top and back are way more than enough fan spots, considering there's only 2 front intake. for someone who cares so much about positive air pressure im surprised he cares so much about having more exhausts. Also, the audio splitter is for the front audio jack. I always lose mine so its nice they include it
I just bought this case before researching and everyone keeps complaining and so i’m worried. do you recommend buying two more fans? how do i remove the air filter? im thinking of moving the two stock fans as intake fans and then buying a 140 for the top and a 120 for the rear and use both as an exhaust. i would like to know your setup concerning fans. i’m a complete beginner so let me know

The air filter is super easy to remove, the side one must be removed from the inside of the case, and the bottom one I think can be done from outside the case. The old H510 works very good if you used it how it is supposed to be used --> as a negative pressure case!!!
So leave the 2 stock exhaust fans and DON'T ADD INTAKE FANS, these intakes fans are what destroy the case's airflow
I disagree. I have two intakes in the front and two out at the back (H510i) and my temps got better + way less dust building up in the case.

to anyone who does plan to aircool with the regular H510, from a physics standpoint using the front slots as an air intake is completely fine, and you can get away with 120 mm on all slots. I would not recommend running a complete top of the line setup in it, but its not as bad as people kind of exaggerate online. I run a tower cooler on an 11700K and it idles at around 38-40 C.
Idle is irrelevant and not helpful data. But you would be correct otherwise

Yeah with your hardware that isn't really a problem, if you have a gpu more in the league of 3070ti/rx6800 that case is an oven
It’s not a bad case at all. It’s just not great for the newest hardware and overclocking, because It has bad airflow.
I'm running a 3700X and a 5700XT and never had a temp problem either. I believe that the people scared of the airflow never actually built in them or daily drove them
I have a 5800x and a 3080 fe in mine without temp issues

The splitter is because the front panel is probably a combo jack, so they let you split it out to dedicated mic and headphones.

The amount of tech tips i got from this video made me check if i was watching a ltt's video
For anyone considering this case, there isn't enough room up top for a radiator and fans with most motherboards, so don't fret about the lack of top mesh.
Can't we replace this single fan in front of the panel with a radiator?
@@opt4623 I'm not sure I understand the question. I was referring to the top, where there is barely room for one fan. The front is made to accomodate a 2 fan radiator.
