The pro tip to easily increase airflow is to Dremel out the holes from the grille ( they are put there because of safety laws ) and then manually add a wire fan grille/guard ($2). Easy 20-30% better airflow versus trying to force air through those stamped metal grilles at a few mm offset. The ideal case would both suck and blow an equal amount of air for a given sample period. If amount_of_suck - amount_of_blow = 0. I would argue a good case does not suck because it's amount of blow cancels it out. Unfortunately it seems some case manufacturers have confused blow as a euphemism for drugs.

Picked one up in 2022 now they’re $89. Great case very happy so far. Don’t mind the lack of fans I’m not using any of the included ones. Was able to do push/pull with a 240mm aircooler and fit the rad and the pushers all in that front part of the case and have a ton of room in the case.

I improved the airflow of my Lian Li PC011 Dynamic by installing a waterblock on my GPU that prevented me from reinstalling my side panel. These are GN level moves.
At the end of the year he's going to bash on people who bought the h510 flow. It'll be in the disappointed video. He'll say "YOU payed more for less metal! You could've bought a p400A and saved more money for how much metal you got.."
It's 110$ right now but nzxt is has been on a trend of releasing their new cases at a higher price than they sell them for virtually the rest of the lifespan of the product. It'll be 90$ at most in a couple months
They do that to capture the hundreds of suckers who still continue to call themselves “fans” of NZXT, despite all of the shitiness that has come out of the company the past few years.
@@spencercarruth9706 meh their stuff is alright just overpriced in general. If it works for Apple i guess they think it'll work for them too. Regular RMA they're decent (before the whole recall they didn't want to do and stuff)
@@spencercarruth9706 I had an H500 and got an H510 in February. No real issues. I don't overclock but temps are fine and have an X53 Kraken in the H500. My daughter broke off a USB port in the front and they replaced the whole unit for free, even a couple of months outside warranty.
@@farmeunit That's great, but one individual good deed does not absolve a company like NZXT from the horrid way they treated consumers with an H1 case. For the amount of money NZXT asks for their products, there are many more on the market that do just as good a job if not better for the same price or less. Why should someone invest their money into a company with a spotty track record when others like Fractal Design (who handled a hardware defect with grace) exist?
@@spencercarruth9706 I agree. Every company has a fail and it's how they respond. Like I said, they responded better than most companies in my case. Zero questions asked and they sent me a part. Maybe it was in response to backlash they received previously due to the other issue. I don't know. They have a page dedicated to getting replacements for the H1. That is the only issue I have heard of and know of many otgee companies with multiple various issues. Shit happens. I am glad Gamers Nexus puts companies on blast but I also understand that issues arise. I will go on with my life either way. Don't trust them, don't buy them. It's that simple. As for me, I like the design and I haven't had a problem. Why would I try another case I don't like because of an issue I never had?
Might have gotten cold welded because of the over torqueing and lack of proper coating on the screws/threads. If so, other than a blowtorch or straight shearing the threads clear, it's never gonna come out. Let me tell you, it's not a fun thing to do at all, specially when you are not allowed to touch the surrounding surface. Would imagine the same thing happens with a pc case.
Have you ever thought of having a test metric for cases, that is focused on a 'best fan option' scenario, where you put the best orientations of fans from your storage shelf, regardless of maker, count or size ... into a case ... to see how good a case 'can be', if enough fans and/or the best cooling setup was used? It might: - Really show what a case 'could cool like' in a best case setup scenario, - inform viewers by way of chart, as to the very best way to set up their home enthusiast builds, for a given case. Obviously this completely upends any budget build goals, but in most situations enthusiast builders who have spent $1-2000 on parts, would likely order a couple $30+ fans if they 'thought it would do any good' to protect their investment, but have no testing methodology to rely on, as to if it really is helping. This is probably a hell-hole of difficult when it comes to baseline balancing a chart, which may be why you dont do it.
they have traditionally shyed away from the category of "so you're in love with this case and want to make it work no matter what, here are stages of upgrades to get more out of it" but of course, there are certain cases unique enough that you can find those kinds of reviews, but those cases are often as unique in use-case as they are in style, or cater to specific small groups of people (the cat case behind Steve) so even then, it's super niche and not worth most people's time except as pure entertainment, which is more of a Linus/Bitiwt avenue, and Steve seems content to let them have that space, even though Steve's opinion would arguably be much more valueable than the others
I'm so happy when Steve mentions the P400A, I bought that one for my system because of his review and then the list of best cases for the year and I'm glad he still says is a good case.
I'm not here to comment on this video today. I'm here to tell Steve that his video for UFD Tech's charity stream he made hit me deep. Thanks Steve for sharing. It strengthened my resolve in a big way. I have a lot of respect for you sharing that with the audience who saw it.
Im building my first Pc your channel has been a huge help! NZXT products caught my eye right off the hop and since have watched every video you have on their products. Ive went from being excited scared and finally at peace of mind that NZXT Reps remind me of my dad no matter right or wrong NZXT will always be right
Been waiting for this video since the announcement of this case. Glad you got your hands on one. Loved the response and it was a great video like always. I'm going to try to catch this case on a sale, as I would love to build in it.
Seems like a good afterthought from NZXT, but not enough to make me upgrade from my regular H510 since I'm getting decent temps with it anyways. Glad to see NZXT taking reviewer and customer feedback seriously though!
LOVE that they get exactly the ad time and depth that's for sale at GN and not a shred more. "there's a cooler we did review positively, which we're willing to reiterate is pretty good, and some thermal paste that exists, in case you need thermal paste."
So... do you think your reviews were the driving force behind so many companies moving towards airflow cases? Was this something the engineers had talked about internally, but were ignored by the suits in favor of more tempered glass & RGB until GN started pointing out the obvious? Or was this something that just wasn't on their radar to begin with?
I would hope that people realized before us that cases should have airflow, and certainly there's evidence of that, but a lot of the companies became fully entranced by glass back when the industry shifted from plastics / acrylics to tempered glass. Someone added a tempered glass side panel, so to compete, someone else added a tempered glass front panel, and so on. To answer the question: A mix of both. We had a lot of engineers & designers tell us they needed ammunition for management, but there were also several companies that came to us over the years with questions about what they should do. At this point, nearly every major case manufacturer has asked to spend significant time with us at events or on the phone to talk about design (we don't do it as consulting, but if we have time, we'll sometimes give them ideas).
@@GamersNexus I went out of my way to keep an old Phantom 410 through the years because of the lack of airflow cases for those few years there. With my latest build, I actually went with a InWin 101 and couldn't be happier. The back side intake (or exhaust for my AIO as I'm using the bottom 3 fans for intake) provides the perfect airflow ratio, at least for how I built. It runs about 60/40 positive with super cheap UpHere fans, but stays cool and quiet, at least by my standards. It could probably do better, but it's great for the $60 I spent on it at the time.
@@GamersNexus Can I just point out that it's amazing that you take from your time (which you surely don't have much of) to consult with companies for free about how to do their business better, just because in the end it's a win for consumers. Thank you, Steve. And everyone else at GN as well. You provide quality reviews *and* entertainment while being selfless and I love it.
What I would love to see more of are these smaller mid-towers with single HDD cages, or cages where they can be separated. It would be nice to have the option for a little more room for cables for those of us with only one HDD and a chonky boi PSU.
I wish case reviews simply had a "Best Thermal Configuration possible" Noise & Thermal test (using whatever amount of Noctua 120/140 ... fans, or even stock ones if bigger special ones). Most people are willing to buy extra fans for their case instead of leaving it "as bought", and Standardized is kinda dumb as you're putting the same setup in a Mini case or a Huge one, which doesnt make any sense and nobody would do. Which only result in showing the full power of smaller case (that dont have bottom intake) while "nerfing" the big ones. Most people just want to know how good the case can be, so having a test showing and comparing the best config each of them can achieve would make most sense and be ideal for most watchers instead of Stock and/or Standardized charts. Afterwall, we're testing how good the given case layout is compared to other cases layouts, so isn't it only normal to utilze it to the best it allow and show that ? Idealy "Best Thermal Configuration possible" would need two test, one for CPU air cooler and one for CPU AIO cooler, as nowaday AIOs are in at least half of the new builds made. What I also fear is that some manufacturer start creating cases that do well specificaly in these configs just so it goes high on your charts and it boost their sales, regardless of the actual performance of the case in configs that make more sense for the end-user.
It seems like a valid thought process to believe that NZXT knows this case will sell well regardless of high price because of individuals who understand the importance of airflow, therefore were not willing to purchase the other areas of the H500 series no matter how much they really liked the look. This case is an easy decision for those individuals who really wanted this very popular case design but also wanted decent airflow. Whether or not this high price is a reflection of cost coverage on the business side or profit expansion is up in the air here, but the point still stands.
NZXT seemingly making business and marketing choices entirely based on them being emotional because you wouldn't ignore a *potentially deadly* defect is pathetic. OR, if it's because they're to embarrassed to admit maybe you were right about airflow is almost worse. They've firmly landed themselves on my DO NOT BUY list, and that's a nearly impossible list to remove themselves from.
I just typed a very similar reply. I would never do business with these people and I strongly encourage others not to either. Ignoring a fault is real bad anyway but ignoring one which has the potential to harm is completely unforgivable.
Clearly the leadership have ego problem, considering alot it's well-known competitors have cheaper and better looking case not long this company will become insignificant.
@@TheMack The last 2 personal builds before my current rig used NZXT cases. My current one uses a Lian Li o11 dynamic, which I loooove. Although, gotta say I really like how the Torrent looks. :)
GN: "We don't hate it." NZXT: Yay! 🤣 It's kind of sad that in the world we're in today, if Steve doesn't hate it, it's a good day. What ever happened to companies trying to actually impress us?
Every new case review you do makes me feel good about buying the Lian Li Lancool 215 based on your original review. I love this case and the price was unbeatable.
23:03 problem is as someone looking to buy a new/replacement case I don’t care about that, I don’t work for NZXT or have shares in them so how much it’s costing them isn’t my concern as a customer the only thing that matters to me is getting a good case at the lowest price I can.
Fairly new to the channel, been a PC fan since i was a kid, but was never able to actually afford a proper gaming pc till now. Can honestly say I absolutely love the thorough reviews and cant wait till the 2021 awards, so I can properly decide what case to use for my first proper gaming pc! Hoping the 011 air mini does well, since that would fit best on my desk...
Some might accuse me of being a fanboy (pun-intended) but I'm going to credit GN for shifting the case market towards airflow and function in the last 3 years. It feels like the PC case market went through an ᎪᎬⲊᎢᏂᎬᎢᏆᏟ phase and I'm happy to see it come to an end. Cases like the Torrent, P500A, and Meshify show that a case doesn't have to look like shit to work well. NZXT has been the most stubborn and to see them finally cave is like Apple putting the headphone jack back in their phones.
14:18 You see how much Steve's been through when he has to question even the most basic sanity check and bundle it with a disclaimer cause who knows what the f-..low to expect at this point.
I'll admit I bought a h500 a few years ago. Ive not had horrible thermals, but I haven't overclocked. Anyway, the one thing that impressed me about NZXT. I emailed them saying that I had broken my top panel usbs and could I buy a replacement board. It was totally my fault and I told them that. This was last year just starting into the shortages. I got a prompt email back saying that they were out of stock of the board, but would send one as soon as they could. And, a month or so later I received the replacement part at no cost. They did not ask for proof of purchase or serial/part numbers. It's a little thing, but means a lot to me. Not trying to knock GN or any of their reviews. I love what you guys do and stand for. It's so rare today. Just a small consumers point of view.
What you say about price is spot-on. I bought a Cooler Master Q300L box (slightly smaller version of the H500 for micro-ATX) for $50 that was more than functional - lots of space, plenty of airflow, and yes, I had to add 2 of my own fans which was fine(it comes with one fan, no lighting, or frills - just a basic well built box), but certainly not the $110 that this is. The price-point for a basic but functional case is in the $50-$60 range today. Cutting some holes in a panel and charging $35 more than the $75 "normal" price? Eh.... going to have to pass on that one.
Their competition is also previously-owned cases. The cases I'm currently using are about 19 years and 24 years old. Undoubtedly, the newer case designs are nicer and I would enjoy them if my current cases went away. But it's hard to justify spending more money on new cases when I already have perfectly-functional cases. I would hope that most people hang on to their cases for a long time. It's one of the best ways to prevent (e-)waste.
On the topic of GN moving the most units, I am waiting for a review of the Lian Li O11 Air Mini from GN before purchasing, because Steve has my biases in cases, insofar as I like them to perform.
They announced a 2 month delay, just enough time for the H510 Flow price to drop 10 or 20 bucks to its realistic value and then we can choose properly :)
The new case's should have better ventilation on the sidepanel to provide better airflow on the sides of the gpu area either by bigger holes in the side panel or possibility to place a fan to directly extract the heat that emanates from the gpu on the side.
1.66m subscribers, it is a smart move to take your thoughts on board shame on NZXT , we enjoy your content its accurate, not boring and covers a lot, Thanks from New Zealand
I cannot wait until GN starts displaying charts of their conclusions/recommendations. At 23:31 the NZXT is rated as, "It's fine." Then at 23:44 another rating is applied: "We don't hate it." Finally, at 23:57 we learn, "It's not worth it."
I really dont like most NZXT cases, especially the H710. But I once got a good deal ($50) on the NZXT Phantom 410 (pretty old now). For my specific use case its been amazing and still in use. Has 3 5.25" bays which I needed. This case is packed with 2 air cooled GPUs and an air cooled CPU and still holds decent temps, mostly due to the side panel fan intake. Even with this one time good case (to me) I still dont like the 510 Flow or any newer NZXT case.
ive used a few cases you all have recommended in builds for friends, and I must say builds are always much smoother when following the advice provided by your team. Meanwhile I'm still running a second hand Apevia Sniper2 case ive had since 2015~2016
The amount of subtle and not so subtle shade thrown in this review is brilliant. I knew something was up when I started seeing reviews of this case on other outlets...and not the true NZXT roaster that is GN.
You know, personally speaking, the big NZXT on the lower front panel is a deal killer for me. I don't care for my PC cases conspicuously advertising their brand in large text. Overly conspicuously branding on PC cases makes me feel like the case manufacturer is laying too much 'claim' to the resulting build as a whole, when they were involved in only a small portion of it.
@gamersnexus I would love to know what case your personal gaming rig is in? I've watched all your case reviews videos, and I'm still stuck on what I want. Great content as always! Huge fan
Still wish they had 240 rad support in the roof. There's room. Bought a 3rd party front for my h210. Massively improved temps and can fit a full-size 3090 and a 240 in it now.
To be honest with you, I wouldn't want Steve to critique my personal computer builds. I've learned a lot about what I should improve from watching your reviews - both with pre-builts and component reviews.
Same, I'm fairly proud of the computers I've built over the years but I'm sure I would feel like a toddler after anyone on the GN team took a look at my stuff lol
Not only that, the 4000d is amazing looking, with many little details that reviewers don't cover, really looks premium. none of that MiNiMaLiStIc nzxt look
When will the trend of windowed side panels die? In the old days, it was cool to see the internals but things are going minimalistic. Mine side in a shelf and all I see is the plain white front. I like it this way.
Would you guys consider reviewing the Lancool 205 mesh? The design is really similar to this (as well as the price) and I'd be interested to see how being manufactured by Lian Li may affect the performance and value proposition.
white version of the H510 Flow is really nice, but NZXT defo messed up releasing it at double the price of a Corsair 4000D. Now it seems to be equal price but its too late.
Never thought I'd see this day. I had an H510 and the thermals were so bad. I switched to a 4000d airflow and the temps have dropped a couple degrees. Probably won't buy it though cause the 4000d can fit a 360 Rad. I do own the N7 B550 and X73 Kraken though. Loved the company's simple design.
I ditched my H500 pretty quickly because of poor front intake. I didn't realize at the time how stupid the front intake system was. I still have it hacked up for parts somewhere. Meshify S2 with all fans populated rocks.
that is completely correct, but your comment tells me you have not bought a nzxt case, they do exaggerate, and paint does get fucked up on almost every spot where there is a screw if you buy a white case, when you remove filters or replace fans, that white paint will come off where the screws are, guaranteed
As a consumer, I also look at other variables that goes beyond the product I'm buying: I'd much rather pay some extra $&& if I know the company is fair to its employees and the climate. I understand it would be a very difficult metric to include in the reviews though.
Wanted to make a ITX build and after watching Steve's review on the NZXT H200 and the part about sfx power supply helping gpu thermals i bought the NZXT H210 in red / black. Set about it with my Dremel and replaced the front and bottom with mesh and filter, cut out the psu / hdd cover to allow my gpu to breath from bottom of case. Now got in the case a Asus B550-I with Ryzen 5000X, Gigabyte 3070 gaming oc, Corsair sfx sf750 PSU, NZXT Kraken X53 aio, 5 x Noctua NF-S12A PWM chromax.black.swap fans (3 on radiator and 2 exhaust), 2 x Noctua NF-R8 redux 80mm fans (pulling through bottom mesh onto gpu intake fans. 2 x Nvme drives and 3 x SSD all fitted into the small case. Couldn't be happier with it and the thermals and noise are brilliant after messing with fan curves and a small undervolt on GPU. Would never of considered the case if not watching Gamers Nexus review of the H200.

Picked one up in 2022 now they’re $89. Great case very happy so far. Don’t mind the lack of fans I’m not using any of the included ones. Was able to do push/pull with a 240mm aircooler and fit the rad and the pushers all in that front part of the case and have a ton of room in the case.
NZXT: We're not sending you the case for a review
GN: Gets the case from another reviewer
NZXT: 👁️👄👁️
NZXT is going to have to not send their new cases to reviewers or retailers to prevent GN from reviewing it.
This kinda crap is why i wont buy one of their cases. That and the fire thing, and the twitter thing.

I still can't unscrew the hard drive cage, nzxt screwed those in with a vengeance
GN Certified tier "We Don't Hate it"
Have you ever thought of having a test metric for cases, that is focused on a 'best fan option' scenario, where you put the best orientations of fans from your storage shelf, regardless of maker, count or size ... into a case ... to see how good a case 'can be', if enough fans and/or the best cooling setup was used?
It might:
- Really show what a case 'could cool like' in a best case setup scenario,
- inform viewers by way of chart, as to the very best way to set up their home enthusiast builds, for a given case.
It's weird watching this now in the UK because this case is literally cheaper than all of the "cheaper" options m
I really love the way these reviews come across as documentaries in many ways - the full history of the case was great!

Your standards and the method by which you communicate them continues to give me laughter and joy every time
LOVE that they get exactly the ad time and depth that's for sale at GN and not a shred more.

@@GamersNexus Holy crap, I got a reply! A detailed and informative reply! Back to you, Steve.
@@GamersNexus Do you think recent Lian Li cases pushed it?
@@GamersNexus Can I just point out that it's amazing that you take from your time (which you surely don't have much of) to consult with companies for free about how to do their business better, just because in the end it's a win for consumers. Thank you, Steve. And everyone else at GN as well. You provide quality reviews *and* entertainment while being selfless and I love it.
GN seal of approval "Its okay"
What I would love to see more of are these smaller mid-towers with single HDD cages, or cages where they can be separated. It would be nice to have the option for a little more room for cables for those of us with only one HDD and a chonky boi PSU.
Great analysis and technical discussion 👍👍👍👍👍
30 series makes it rain, power supply explodes, riser catches on fire, back to you Steve

Now that the case is 85 bucks it’s an easy buy for me. The h510 flow has good enough air flow and I love the design
Am I the only one who was in love with the MANTA (aka The Whale)?
I'd totally consider a new ATX Airflow revision of the Manta!
Oh my God that line had me laughing good, "they added those RGBs in the front that they call fans."
I actually just made a build with this case. It's really quiet! I absolutely love it!
Agreed! I'll much rather give Fractal Design my money! A real enthusiast company who actually seems to care about their customers...

"We like airflow focused things ... We like stuff that doesn't suck." Make up your mind!
All these years later and my P400 with a replacement P400A front panel is still rocking and rolling.
Just a small consumers point of view.
i like front windows, idk why more people aren't doing the side intake that the O11 and 5000D/7000D do.
The elite may not have good airflow but damn is it a good looking case.
Its a block of metal and plastic.
@@DarkoPetreski Hi Darko how’s it going?

We're working on it! They had a late design change that is launching soon.
Waiting for that as well. Been wanting a new case for a couple of years now and if it can perform well I'll buy it.
They announced a 2 month delay, just enough time for the H510 Flow price to drop 10 or 20 bucks to its realistic value and then we can choose properly :)
I feel like there's a phrase that perfectly matches the half-assed look of that front panel: malicious compliance

I think it has less to do with the product and more to do with the shipping cost. In Asia the airflow version is actually cheaper then the original
I cannot wait until GN starts displaying charts of their conclusions/recommendations.
At 23:31 the NZXT is rated as, "It's fine." Then at 23:44 another rating is applied: "We don't hate it." Finally, at 23:57 we learn, "It's not worth it."
So glad I bought a Lancool II mesh when it was recommended by GN, great case, and still topping the charts a couple of years later.
Steve you’re the People’s Champ. Always standing up for the consumer! I appreciate your advocacy.
NZXT hiding cases from Steve, like a kid trying to hide their report card.
ive used a few cases you all have recommended in builds for friends, and I must say builds are always much smoother when following the advice provided by your team. Meanwhile I'm still running a second hand Apevia Sniper2 case ive had since 2015~2016
Think I'll be sticking with Fractal for my cases as that mesh front isn't too nice honestly
My Phanteks case has its brand name on a removable sticker. I know it's removable because it keeps falling off.
its barely visible. Like you need a pretty bright light to see it.
Really appreciate the honest nonsponsored review tech jesus. Keep up the excellent reviews!
I vastly prefer the S340 to the H510. S340 mesh would have been awesome.
I bought a Corsair 4000D after watching the review. Love it. Can confirm Gamer Nexus moves units
Airflow case actually do suck. That's basically how they work. Back to you Steve!
So it’s literally the 4000d airflow, but with extra stonks and slightly downgraded air flow…
Yeah I miss non windowed cases. There are not a lot of new options for that nowadays.
Would you guys consider reviewing the Lancool 205 mesh? The design is really similar to this (as well as the price) and I'd be interested to see how being manufactured by Lian Li may affect the performance and value proposition.
The "excessive distance" is very very good. Fans *hate* intake turbulence.
I absolutely love seeing my decision to build my first PC in the Corsair 4000D AF turn out to be a good one time after time.
white version of the H510 Flow is really nice, but NZXT defo messed up releasing it at double the price of a Corsair 4000D. Now it seems to be equal price but its too late.
How is it too late? Are people not building tons of pcs right now with the lower gpu prices?
I see this case everywhere now so steve's criticism of lowering the price worked lol
This is a solid "it's better than Dell" case.
Not applicable, but still marginally better case overall.
i'm really happy i found your channel. Great videos!
hope they put "must be named patrick" as a requirement in future GN job vacancies
NZXT is probably still upset about the work you did on the fire-starting riser cable, and the attempt at a forced recall.
Steves right about GN moving units, when I first saw this case I was scrolling to find this specific video
Thumbscrews kind of have to be tightened past hand-tight for shipping or they just fall out, at least in my limited experience
that is completely correct, but your comment tells me you have not bought a nzxt case, they do exaggerate, and paint does get fucked up on almost every spot where there is a screw
if you buy a white case, when you remove filters or replace fans, that white paint will come off where the screws are, guaranteed
you are a lot calmer in this video than you were on twitter the day the announced the case
Missed an opportunity to call it a reeeefresh.
Thanks!
