  • It was December 1986, when the Concorde landed in Jamaica. It was an exciting time. People were happy and exuberant. It was a family affair. Even the captain had Jamaican connections and it made it all the more exciting as all the major players, Pearnel Charles Minister of Transport, Hugh Hart, Minister of Tourism, Carole Guntley, Director of Tourism, and Noel Hylton, President of Air Jamaica were on hand for the meet and greet. It was indeed a once in a lifetime affair, a festive, momentous and uplifting experience for Jamaica and Jamaicans.

I was a kid when this flight came. My Mom flew back to NY on this return maiden flight from Jamaica. Back then when we had waving galleries, I recall seeing her walking across the tarmac to the aircraft and finally on taking off, in split seconds in a big boom, it was gone!
    A very historical moment indeed.

I was an ex employee for British airways in the mid 90s when they use to have American crew members in Boston and new york, it was so hard to get a ride on the Concorde for free which you can standby as an employee, finally in 1997 i was lucky to get the last available seat to London. This plane is very fast . All the seats are 2-2 each row which is very accommodating and the food service is unlike anything you will experience on any regular intl flight just spectacular.
