That red light indicates that the voice was understood its just deciding if it will respond or not. You will get the exact same thing in text mode. More then likely its a bug.
@@D.R._Iris Setting it to text means that the game bypasses using the Cortana API it uses for voice recognition and instead gives you a drop down menu of things to say. It was a feature that was added for both people who don't have mic's or people running on win7 or 8 which don't have Cortana built into the OS.
This happened to me as well, I ended up just quitting the tutorial. Turns out it didn't even light up red for me in game and my friends said they could hear me so I don't know what's going on. I tried toggle and push to talk, didn't try voice activation though. And yes the lights were off. But the game is just buggy as hell right now so maybe it will be fixed soon!
i realized later that day that i had the wrong mic on in my audio settings (one that doesn't work) and that was the problem (even tho the red icon shows up) but if your friends can hear you in game, then that might be a different problem, unless you guys use discord or somethin
@@D.R._Iris: No, the flashlight doesn't have to be off. Neither in the game, nor during the training. I went through the training only a few days ago to get the achievement. My flashlight was on, and I still got a spirit box response.
@@Husitka Maybe for him that is the case because I was doing the same thing in the tutorial with the lights on for like 15 minutes and got no response but as soon as I turned all the lights off I got a response.
It worked for me with going into settings -> game -> voice recognition mode set to text

This really helped out. Now I wandering when I try to talk to the ghost in mission it dont work
Setting voice rec to text worked for me too, thanks.. at least I'm past the tutorial, now we'll see if voice rec responds in missions.

I had this too in german language.. i tried it 100 times.. then switched to the text option and it worked immediately XDDD
were... you holding down "V" the whole time?? My friend says you are supposed to let go to give the ghost a turn to speak.
No I wasn’t, but I found out it was because I didn’t manually have my audio device set to my current mic in the phasmo settings.

You can have your flashlight on while using a spirit box.
