These are the UNWRITTEN Rules of Destiny. Since they are unwritten, most people don't know about them! But nonetheless, they are important to follow. They are kinda like the "common decency" etiquette within the game. From the specific armor pieces you're supposed to NEVER dismantle to the proper etiquette of emotes, this video covers everything you need to know. Also, don't take all of these 100% seriously... some of them are mostly a joke. Enjoy :)

Most people do not know about the unwritten rules of Destiny, so this video aims to explain them. Think of these "rules" to be equivalent to "having good manners" --- not everyone has good manners, but people really appreciate it when you do!
I dont use trophy for thing.trophy sit on shelf.look pretty.
Well that was interesting. Lots of things. I didn't even know about. ,,,,like that. Crouching. Up and down thing. ,,,,,,,,,,i just thought. They were saying. Hi. Or hello. ,, or some thing. ,???..
Some of these listed items aren’t rules at all, more like curtesy or the lack thereof, especially when playing with toxic randoms.
Coming from Warframe, I’m honestly disgusted by Destiny’s community.
I’ve reported so many weirdos in the 200 hours of playing so far, so many of which were complete basement dwellers with thousands of hours played.
Hi @ShadowDestiny2, could you provide a video guide on the basics, rules, and how to build your own class and subclass with the right equipment?
@@delirus7 Yes, I will release this video about 2 days after The Final Shape!
If you get a god roll either pvp or pve you have to keep it even if you know u will never use it. (I have 599/600 vault space)
I don’t do PVP so if I get a PVP god almighty push the time I will delete it because I don’t care
Exactly my point. But everybody makes fun about it.
I still have god rolls from year 2 or something like that.
Well no shit, if your not gonna use it why you keeping it lmao. Only reason i can see keeping something your not gonna use, is if its an exotic@i_can_c_u_2295

I've been playing D2 since red war, and I only have 168 guns in my vault
I have never to this day seen a sponsorship from an author, so props to that
Ha thanks! A real trend setter me - if you do check my books out, thank you very much in advance!
@@Michael_R_Millerlol I can appreciate unique approaches to advertising, just got your books on audible, super excited to listen!

I'm not much of a reader but the fact you're sponsoring a book series and not some mindless product or service gives me a lot of respect for both of you

In the end we all rain bullets down on our enemies
In protecting the New Lights, I add "Let the New Lights get the final kill". I like to whittle down the big bad to a sliver and leave the final shots to the noobie. Give them the rush of "I Did It!"
Also make an exception for the new lights with the rule, if you didn't make it, don't take it. They're new, and curious, and too cute to get angry at. If they want to pick up one of my tangles or shoot one, that's ok because they're new :).

Man every time someone grabs my tangle it just gives me flashbacks from when randoms would just shooty warmind cells
Or when i use verglas curve and ppl destroy all my crystals instantly
Unless it’s a strand titan who throws tangle around you and others to get woven mail
As a Hunter with Whirling Mailstrom, it's SO annoying when i make a tangle and someone either shoots it or picks it up to throw it off a cliff.
A book sponsorship is such a refreshing ad read. Only one I haven't skipped in a long time.

“If you didn’t make it, don’t take it” should become a truly universal rule. Can’t tell you the number of times teammates stole my tangle or destroyed stasis crystals and ruined the flow.
But what if it's a curious new light?
While I agree as a vet, in terms of crystals, if they're in my way I will remove them. I will be mindful of my team but they need to be mindful of me.
I take them all the time.....especially if their just sitting there.
When I am using ruinous I don’t mind my team picking my balls up. I get bonus damage against whatever survives the slam. Everything else? 100% agree
There has been more than a few times ive gone to reload and suddenly "WTF" im stood there holding some Fkers strand ball lol
First ime ive ever seen an Author sponsor a video, pretty cool. more should do that
If enough folks buy the books then I'm sure we will - cough cough... wink wink ;)
I believe I was part of the most amazing social space bond in D2 history.
A bunch of random guardians equipped the drum table emote and we instinctively gathered in a circle playing the drm and on a clock wise rotation we send one person to the middle to dance for 5 sec then the next come in the middle to dance. 💃
That is nice ! I love how those moments are so spontaneous and how everybody understand everything without a word. Have fun, Guardian ! :)
#35 Drip or drown. the most sacred rule of them all, and also the only commendation people ever actually think about when the activity ends
All the other commendations should, of course, be spread randomly and evenly among everyone else. In 3 player activities, everyone should get 2 commendations, in 6 person everyone gets 3, in the new 12 person activity everyone gets 3. Also, the only exception is if someone gets 5 or 12 best dressed commendations in the 6 and 12 player activities respectively
Rule 62 is straight up a lie, 70% of the activities I play people don't revive
sometimes theres a good reason for that
@@CarriesOnTopmy thing is, if they don’t revive me, I don’t revive them. It’s simple
@@MasterRyuuji I'll generally do it, but I give 3 strikes. I'll rez you after 2 STUPID mistakes (WTH are you up there?), but the third time, I'm leaving you.

My first rank up, I had like 15 people come out of nowhere dancing and doing silly things around me.
Thats a powerful moment for a new player.
So about 6 hours into playing the game, I was prompted to do that Grasp of Avarice.
So I did it.
Alone.
At 1700.
Day 1.
😂
Took like 5 hours and 50 lives to get to the final chamber and I got lit up like a birthday cake immediately.
Still haven't done it since. 😂
But my aim is way better and I can tripple jump into a 5 gallon bucket from 100 meters now, so it wasn't a total waste.
I went and watched a bunch of new player vids after that, cus the game does not tell you nothing about nothing.
Honestly I love promoting those books. People should read more these days, and audible is a great way to do that. I love ads like this way more than, say, Raid Shadow Legends. Also, love the vid as usual, keep it up!
Yeh raid shadow legends is everywhere
Glad you liked it! Thanks in advance if you check my books out - really appreciate it :D
You must say “there goes flawless” when the first person dies in a dungeon, even if it wasn’t a flawless attempt
God I love doing this, my favorite time has to be when my friend rammed me into a wall during a VOG run, we got our sparrows to that ledge before conflux and we usually chill there for a bit before we start the rest of the raid, anyways he decided to kill me and then said “there goes flawless” and somehow got the whole raid team to bash me, great times, moment he got off his sparrow I returned the favor
Came here to say this. If I don't hear a RIP flawless after the first idiot dies in a raid or dungeon I'm out
How about the unwritten rule of punching back at your teammate when they punch you, personally this is my favorite.
11:52 Wearing bright colors is definitely an advantage at times. It's usually the shotgun apes that do it, but it's smart because your eyes are naturally attracted to the big glowing white blob rushing it's way towards you. So you and your teammates are focused on that while the players on the other team can either kill you while your distracted or complete the objective.
That and some just do it as a power move.
U know every hunter is going to be rocking the all black shader for at least a month
@@CarriesOnTop Oh for sure, but it's usually Titans that wear the shiny shaders.
Fun fact with Rule 33: First time going through GoS, I didn't pay attention to the portal all the way at the end and saw the pit portal first. I actually jumped into THAT one and got confused for a minute trying to figure out where I was.
"After all, this game is about becoming legend, not becoming a liability." That one had me dying lol 🤣
Only titans using Sweet Business made me bust out laughing. So true. Lol
Hmmm I just deleted those gloves - finally. It is time to break with tradition - a new shape is coming.
My best experience in the tower is setting up a fishing emote off the edge before server maintenance for a season upgrade and encouraging a mass fishing event. I promptly screen shotted and shared for 'forever proof.'
On crouching, there is one time you should always disregard and it is a very specific instance: you see a hunter in the heat of combat crouch twice. Odds are they are not trying to say anything, they are trying to dodge with no ability charge.
That’s me, I’m that hunter
I relate to this omg 😭
it is unbelievable how much I related to damn near this whole list
bro i got soo pissed today on onslaught. i had a hunter tangle build, whenever i got a tangle a warlock kept stealing them. but i can confirm all of these are strict rules and i follow most of them without even knowing them
Not that guy in particular but I have had games where im trying to pick up batteries and getting tangles by mistake 😢
I was in onslaught yesterday and my team kept jumping in front of me during damage and I kept blowing myself up, and the other teammate kept putting his bubble over my well of radiance
Whenever that happens to me, I call them a knucklehead in team chat and they usually stop lol
If they don't though, then I just stop reviving them and don't give them commendations because they certainly don't deserve it
Sorry bro... That was me
Might be me when on console. Have revive on L2 for aiming and reviving at the same time, but you fucking can't put revive, pick up or any other kind of these actions to different buttons, so i accidently pick them up just while shooting
‘To avoid having your annoying stasis walls shot, don’t use them’ - everyone else
5:24 combine with the floor is lava buff for a even better jump
I just started about week ago and this is extremely helpful and improved my gaming experience immediately thank you!
Great to hear!
I love going to the cosmodrome and using the varying different types of skating to absolutely mind-boggle the new lights.
New lights Reporting you as a cheater 😂
Not to long ago I actually did rule number 2 and got the new light their first Heroic Public Event as well as getting them region chests for bonus loot and he friended me for it and then we had a little dance session but then he left but at least it was a win, win for the both of us. :)

I actually held out for a few months when I "quit Destiny forever." Then the Final Shape dropped...
I stopped back in the middle of shadow keep, but I'm back after almost 5 years. The game is very different now, but so am I. I'm actually glad to be back after so long!
@@DrewtendoI’m right there with you. Last time I played, Leviathan was the only raid. I’ve been back in for about 2 weeks now, learning/relearning basically everything

I can't begin to count the number of clowns that jump in front of me when I clearly have the overly large rocket launcher sitting on my shoulders shooting projectiles out of it.
Great Video my friend!! There are so many of these things I've experienced teammates doing!!! Even a couple I didn't know! lol
First time I find a sponsor actually intriguing, will check it out I just finished the Night Angel and needed something to dive into !
bro broke rule 28 dont speak during deep stone lullaby to explain the rule
#31, I have a few PvP emote stories I hold close to my heart.
Once, some guy started playing patty-cake with me. It was so nice…until my teammate domed the enemy.
Then there was the time I was in an Iron Banner match with my friend. We were the only two ppl on the team, so we just caramelldansen’d at each other. The other team, with 5, took notice, and soon swarmed us-not with guns, bullets, or bombs, but with sweet dance moves and a few hugs. By the times our teams were filled out, we had 5 minutes left in the match, and there was a guy on the other side who just murked us all with an Eager Edge Other Half. But that entire match felt a lot more laid-back and chill than any other Iron Banner match I’ve been a part of in recent memory. In fact, it was one of the best PvP matches I’ve ever partaken in, ever.
If someone is annoying in any kind of match and they are running to revive me, I will be spamming the hell out of the respawn button so I don't get infected by the plague they are.
100% agree with rule 56, i have the emblem for flawless trials of the nine and have never removed it from my hunter for more than a day
The "stick around to help the players that helped you" hits so hard... i have a long-time friend who will literally whine until someone helps him, and then he just dips as soon as he gets his loot. He's the same kind of guy that "the game sucks" if he sucks at the game.
The first hug emote i was appart of brought me joy i never thought i would get while playing destiny.
I LOVE NEWLIGHTS, if I find one in van ops, I stick with them til they fly free, always making sure they're the first to any objectives. They're so adorable!!!
Coming in early on the video to say that the "joining in on shenanigans in the tower" is such a true thing. I once started crouching near a Titan, then I just...proceeded to sit down. You know, to check me phone use the restroom. When I got back there were 4 other players sitting there chilling with me as well as that initial Titan. We were just taking in the sights and hanging out. The community can be cool sometimes.
I'm honored that my Gambit invasion clip was used to illustrate Rule #23. Thanks! Always enjoy your videos.
I've always played this game alone from D1, and sadly, I've never been able to know her rules even though I already suspected some of them, thank you for enlightening me 😮
4:15 i dont have many raid banners or anything like that i just always place it so the others dont have to worry about it
glad im not the only one who kept the blue war mantis hunter gauntlets. i got a bunch of them before blues stopped dropping. I have too many
“if you didnt make it, dont take it” good life advice right there
I'm taking everything including ur soul
Whenever I’m teaching grasp I always say you gotta open both doors at the same time. Works every time
"Honey, we're gonna be late to your sister's wedding, can we please go?" , ""hang on, I MUST engage in these tower shenanigans"
One of my unwritten rules- If I get a best dressed, and one of my teammates gets one, then mine must always go to the person who doesn't have one. Gotta keep that distribution even.
The songs of Chaos ad read actually got me. I never see book ads on RUclips. Gonna read that now
awesome, thanks for checking it out
unwritten rules? more like reddit's wishlist
Tea bag conga lines are my favorite tower thing 😂
I frequently have occasion to set the team to go to the tower, and then get up and go do whatever kids or cats need while we fly in. My wife started randomly walking me over to various vendors, so I'd come back and sometimes be standing in front of Shaxx, Zavala, the Post office, etc. .... for like 2 years I thought it was a thing the game did, and you could load into the tower in front of vendors randomly.
It is an unwritten rule of yt to make chapters if your rule guide is under 100 rules, just a must. :P
14:41 i almost started crying there. it is just so beautiful
Just played horde mode for the first time. One player would create stasis crystals and then do nothing with them. They blocked off sight lines, so I had to jump over to shoot the enemies. Same as the “don’t move around” rule, one stasis crystal popped up in front of me while I shot a rocket, died. Thanks, there were no enemies close by.
I'm proud to have been one of the early crouch-walking, tower-stalking, trend setters in D1. I wish I could say I started it, but I don't think any of us really knows who or precisely when the tower stalking commenced. First it was just a way to harass in-game friends taking too long with their loadouts, then it became abstracted: "Hey, that guardian has a weird hat," or, "They're just STANDING there!" All I really know is that it was very important to never run. Only creep... Only creep...
21 feels like it was added for personal reasons
7:33 _that guy_ (collective) is the exact reason I always keep a sitting emote on all of my characters. I will literally _sit in front of the bank_ if the opportunity to get the Following Instructions medal isn't taken. (Yes, there's a medal for 'immediately' banking after Drifter tells you it's time.)
I recently helped a new player out on a strike. They were a warlock and having trouble with jumping. I stayed with them and revived them several times until they finally made it. The other player went on ahead and waited patiently for us.
I actually needed a new book to read, thank you
perfect!
Thanks for diving in! Hope you love it
Oh the raid banner one yeah, i just plant one everytime i can because i'm always the one who joins araid and never the one leading so i just wanna do somethign extra to make sure everybody has a good time ^^
I've been playing less than a week and I can confidently tell you from Day 1 I have been chasing down my hammer throws like a man possessed lmao. At least early on it just feels so strong that I never wanna have it on long cooldown lol.
very nice video! i like the nuance and explainign the proper etiquette.
Yes on "if you didn't make it don't take it", ive got a couple beyblade builds and a verglas build and it sucks when people steal my tangles or shatter my crystals before i can 😭
Are your crystals blocking an entire lane in a mode where everyone is just trying to get kills for bounties? I respect the tangles, but Verglas can admittedly be a bit much sometimes.
A little late to the party, but I can confirm the Songs of Chaos books are VERY good! Awesome sponsorship
My original raid group was so unselfish with our raid banners it was basically a race to put your down first 😂 soooooooo many double banners....and even a quad banner. Never gonna forget that one lmao
That “Guy” Don Corleone had me howling!
Placing banners in weird places was fixed some time ago now, they always place where you start the placement process now.
The amount of players I have used the slow dance emote in pvp to emote with a random enemy is my favourite 😂
I would love if the devs made it to where if you destroy a foreteam members stasis or throw their tangle, their build still affects it like. Their is a bigger explosion of the crystals or the tangle will still spawn threadlings for them. Me amd my fireteam use each other's tangles for movement purposes so I think it would add a little bit of fun and allow for even more teamwork
I've never been tricked into any trap because i'm just so good at identifying them. in Garden of Salvation, the leader tried to get me to walk through the portal. I saw the portal to the death zone when we jumped over, and noted it, so I wasnt fooled. Back then I was a true gigachad gamer.
As a player of destiny since D1 beta, i love this video, so many rule come from the first game that people just carried over and its so funny to still see these days
Nevermind the lullaby music when I’ve had in game music shut off since shadowkeep lol
More rules!
- Twilight Arsenal axes are an exception. Any teammate can take them
- In Gambit, if someone's invading and getting kills, do NOT invade. They're probably using a build to invade.
#60: With how many different weapons in the current meta are B&S based explosives, or stuff like Nighthawk being present in basically every raid DPS. Its important to keep this in mind. If you need to be able to move for hunters reload dodge similar, position yourself so your dodge will not cause any disruption. Even if you don't block someone directly, have had a friend dodge into someone who pushed them to the side that caused someone else to smack them in the back of the head with a rocket. Additionally With this, rally barricade may be very helpful, but remember to drop it facing away from the DPS angle, even if its only waist height, it can still cause issues.
#46: Even if you don't have your "exact loadout" ready. Try to bring the weapons you will be using. For stuff like a normal raid or Nightfall, its not item locked so you can always swap weapons around if need be. Keep in mind stuff for stunning champions, since especially with completely random matchmaking, at times no one will run the exact stunning weapon by default and the others will be thankful if you are the one who is willing to swap.
#39: If the encounter allows you to move away from the banner slight without starting the encounter, do that after you rally. Its a nice way of signifying readiness without having to write in chat or saying anything. And whoever is in charge of starting the encounter or is in charge of the team will generally (silently) thank you. Though additionally, especially if its something you've never done before, wait for an explanation to finish before rallying. Speak from experience with this, were I've rallied to the wrong type of heavy weapon and went into last fights without full heavy ammo. The damage will be noticeable.
#34: Some supers should be help onto a bit more often then others, such as Well of Radiance, since their use can be a full on game changer. But, as long as everyone is running orb generation and there is enough ad density there shouldn't be much issue using your supers quite often. I can't even count how many times a roaming super has been able to make an annoying section of a nightfall into basically a cakewalk.
#28: Bonus point for turning up your in game music for this exact section. Many players (myself included) really enjoy both the jumping puzzle and the background music of this part. It also gives a good time for people to take a small break if need be, just make sure the entire raid team knows you have gone AFK for a few minutes. So you can still get a chance at the chest if you need it.
#14: Its your hammer, you need to pick it back up. We may be god killing beings, but that doesn't mean we should be allowed to litter. (Jokes aside, the throwing hammer will save your life in more instances then you ever may expect. Treat it with some respect and it will seemingly fly more true)
I've just given up looking for my hammer if I throw it super far on accident, because I know I'll never find it. I swear they need to put a little waypoint on you HUD or something to easily find it. Despite it constantly glowing I almost never find it if I throw it too far.
🤣
Nah when people ignore my res for an entire 30 seconds the choice is up to ME whether or not I wanna bait them into coming to reviving me just to respawn as soon as they arrive 😂 I think it’s hilarious when I get to pull it off
I've been left behind so often, even had allies sit next to my ghost for several seconds then leave, I don't revive anyone any more.
1:55
You definitely should pick up your teammates transmutation spheres, the point of the gun is that your teammates love picking stuff up so hopefully they do that and dunk the sphere on a boss, pretty nicely increasing your DPS
When Im playing Strand or Stasis there is always people that just take my tangle or destroy crystals to a point where I completely stopped running the builds, because they were underperforming, unless I played solo.
After you complete 'The Corrupted' strike, you MUST use your remaining heavy ammo to shoot Sedia before she teleports away. Extra points for being victim of being knocked off by one too many screeches.
Should probably make these “written” rules, cause NO ONE follows them.
Especially hunters and that “go back and revive your teammate” rule
11:52 Meanwhile me in my season of the deep, RGB fin, warlock suit : DO YOU SEE ME NOW, GODS?
Rule 51: One of my friends ALWAYS used to push me to where Benedict 99-40 (The Robot hacked by Calus) was. Like, literally, every single time
Actually for the trace riffle you showed (can't remember the name since I haven't been able to play since January)
People don't usually care if you grab them as long as there are more than 1 out on the ground since if you are doing the proper build for it aka a volatile Build with gyrfalcon the orbs are just a nice fun new weapon added to the arsenal or a defense object for everyone to use if at risk
13:24 I remember a competitive match where my ally was reviving me right in front of 2 enemies while protected, he gave 10 kills to the other team just with that
#9 exists because chests used to (or still do, I'm not sure) de-spawn after opening them. It wasn't secret or unwritten and people would get upset if you opened it too early, but it seems to have evolved into a purely courteous act.
"You must revive your teammates " I died the other day and dude said my mom was a chode and left me there 💀
10:50 WAS THAT A MINI-ATZECROSS? HOW ADORABLE🤣
One of my favorite moments in destiny was 2 weeks ago when I started dancing in the tower and went AFK to use the bathroom
when I came back about 5 minutes later my character was surrounded by 11 other players vibing in the tower
One time me and my friends in a raid were rethinking our loadouts for the encounter and one of them went afk, so we pushed that player all the way back through the portal from the jumping to last wish third encounter.
When they returned they were extremely confused
I partly agree with the strafe one as rain of fire dashing over teammates is not a bad thing but if you do it make sure you are at the back of the rift/well as to not jump into people's line of fire
This was so great! TYSM! QQ about the Blind Well. 🙌🏻 I was churning some Dreaming City bounties and had to knock out a few rounds of the Blind Well. Everyone was just standing around, so I deposited a Tier III token. Next thing I know, one of the players starts shooting me in the face. Like following me around and constantly shooting me in the face. Is there something that I did wrong there? To this day I never deposit my stack of tokens I have. I felt terrible but don’t know what I did? TIA for any rules of etiquette for the BW! 😊
Bro you should post videos of you playing for fun like raids or just run strikes gambit etc...would enjoy just seeing you mess around
The Actium War Rig and Sweet Business combo is actually how I managed to solo Zero Hour on the boss lol
