A voz mais linda e que vem do fundo da alma. Simplesmente maravilhoso . Não me canso de ouvi-lo com o mesmo entusiasmo da primeira vez há 68 anos atrás.
Love this reaction,my mum is a huge fan,he has many famous fans including Barbra Streisand, they did a duet on one of her albums, she said what a thrill it was to sing with him
Johnny Mathis was huge back in the mid- to late 1950s! What a phenomenal voice! He recorded a few Christmas albums and you can hear several of his Christmas songs on the radio every December. But he mostly covered holiday songs that were already hits for others and didn't originate any of his own. Two of his bigger pop hits were "Chances Are" and "Wonderful, Wonderful."
He's still very popular. His success was instantaneous and his following is huge. He still tours at age 84, always to sold out venues. He is the 3rd most popular recording artist ever, behind Elvis and Sinatra. Chances are and Misty are his signature songs, among many others.
From what I've read, Mathis hasn't smoked in decades. He's in his mid 80s now, vocals change with age. Actually his vocals have only started to change within the past 15 years, which is remarkable given that he's been singing all his life. I think he sounds great for his age.
@@BrosReact0151 Yes. He's still alive and occasionally does live concerts. Please react to him singing Twelfth of Never and Chances Are. Those are 2 of his biggest hits. Thanks again guys!
@@BrosReact0151 Yes, Johnny Mathis is still alive as of this writing. Several years ago, Johnny Mathis performed his 50th Anniversary Concert on PBS, and the concert is available on DVD.
"West Side Story" is a famous hit Broadway musical, that was written by Arthur Laurents, with music provided by American classical music conductor Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It came out in 1957, and was later made into a film in 1961. It is fascinating that Johnny Mathis decided to perform a song from this musical, "Maria". I guess that he liked the challenge of performing the song with its changing vocal ranges set up for him by Bernstein and Sondheim.
Sam is right I heard this song in my childhood it was on one of my Dad's LP and I have loved it ever since :) I feel so honoured that the 3 of you were singing my name :) I loved it lars thanks :)
Hi! I found a youtube video with some of Jonny's Christmas songs: "Top 3 Best Christmas Songs By Johnny Mathis" - it has the record album cover as the background, he is shown skiing in a red top. I hear all 3 songs on the radio. Thank you for reacting to him, so far I've only found 3 or 4 videos of people doing that, you guys include. It really makes me happy that he is remembered, and that you guys like him!
you're supposed to listen to it guys, not sing along. you can stop it to make a comment occasionally, but you're breaking in so much as to make listening to it meaningless
How do I become a patreon ? I’m 77 years old and would like to send you $40 each month for 2 reaction requests starting with my favorite 60s/70s pop vocalist “‘John Gary” who Elvis Presley considered his favorite male pop vocalist. A little background on my life and then John Gary’s: About a year ago I had a massive heart attack and was pronounced dead for 2 minutes but by the grace of God someone who knew CPR happened to walk by and administer CPR and miraculously an empty ambulance parked across the street rushed to my car and took me to the critical care unit of the hospital and after several months of intense therapy I was normalized and sent home. I will pay with the only card I have which is my social security Debit Card. My PayPal account is 0 and they won’t let me add any funds because I don’t have a bank card ( I plan on opening a bank account next week ( there is a well’s Fargo bank only 2 blocks from where I live. ).Can I become a patreon using my debit card? I can send you the card number , expiration date and 3 digit pin on the back. I love your reaction and looking forward to becoming a member Now John Gary’s life . He’s the most underrated vocalist ever recorded. He was Elvis Presley’s favorite ballad singer -superior to Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis , Tony Bennet. Sadly, he passed away at age 66 ( born in 1932) but his legacy of over 20 LPs and over 140 pop songs will live on forever. I’m going to offer you initially 2 songs to react to: The first is “ once upon a time” unique and recognizable and his 4 octave vocal range reaches the celestial angelic realm. “ And “ if you love me( really love me)” and this is the song at the end ( last refrain) where John sustains the longest PHRASE in lp recorded HISTORY ( 13 words and 30 seconds) Here are 2 reasons how John developed such an amazing Voice-especially in the high range. His mom was a professional concert violinist and when John was 6 or 7 years old she would have him sing to the tune of the violin. The second reason, John was a deep sea swimmer and invented and patented an Aqualung and used it to set a world endurance record of over 2 hours underwater!! That’s it. Every 2 weeks I’ll request you react to 2 Gary songs. And every month you’ll receive $40. After 3 months of Gary, I’ll start on another artist. All love from Miami Beach, Florida, Al Al

And he had #1 duet hit with Deniece Williams in 1970s too (Too much, too little, too late)
he sings Ave Maria I cry every time
The ladies found his music to be so romantic back in the day we called him Johnny Mattress .

Find a clip of his called 'Johnny One Note'. He holds a single note, without stopping, while a female chorus sings around him, for about two minutes!
What a fabulous voice. I had a mad crush on Johnny Mathis when I was young, and still love hearing him sing.
Is he still alive
@@BrosReact0151 Yes. He's still alive and occasionally does live concerts. Please react to him singing Twelfth of Never and Chances Are. Those are 2 of his biggest hits. Thanks again guys!

Great reaction lars I loved it, glad you enjoyed the song :) its so beautiful

When he was younger his voice was like silk, but you can hear the affects of smoking on his voice.
He hasn't smoked in 60 years
Try getting an earlier video of Johnny singing Maria. Unbelievable.

hi Bros, if you get a chance , listen to ' longest one note, 1 minute 28 seconds' , by Johnny Mathis, ciao 4 now
"The Christmas Song" was recorded by Nat "King" Cole. "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" was recorded by Andy Williams.
Johnny Mathis recorded The Most Wonderful Time of the Year as well.
