- It's og Automobilista, for the first time ever! I owned the original but criminally I had never installed it. That was until I saw the trainer for 'Grand Prix Evolution'. A mod which faithfully recreates all the Geoff Crammond Grand Prix games from yesteryear in one package.
I showcase this mod, and give you my thoughts from playing! Spoiler, I loved it!

Never in a million years expected to see recreations of vintage SIMULATIONS in a racing simulator. It's like a racing sim de-make, I love it

Thank you for reviewing my mod! I really enjoy your video and your stories with the original games! I never played the original Grand Prix games when I was a kid. I first played F1GP and Grand Prix 2 in Dosbox when I was in college back in 2019 and was really impressed by how well they managed to simulate F1 cars with the limited technology of the time. I thought it would be great to play these cars in modern sims and that's why I made this mod :)

Brilliant, sounds like we had a similar upbringing on these amazing games, this was a great overview. I got hooked on GP1 in the early 90's and learnt about the teams/drivers. I spent so many hours on GP2, 1994 also being the first season I watched every F1 race, I couldn't believe how good the graphics looked. Same with each iteration after, what a great time for F1 games! This mod looks fantastic, what a legend the creator is for putting so much effort into it.
I agree the MOD creator is a legend! It sounds as though we were very similar! I think 1994 was my first full season for watching the races myself, although I had to wait until 1995/96 to afford my gaming PC! 😀
i have been looking forward to this since i stumbled onto Whillis's page ... i had GP3/4 back when they came out and at the time
there was nothing that came close ... and tbh the modern titles just don't do it for me.
i had trouble installing the mod [im such an amateur!] and Whillis helped me sort it .... amazing!

Thanks for the great video and to the modder...an unbelievable job done to mod that into modern games and as you say everything is spot on.. im sure Geoff Crammond would be impressed! Its nice hearing your story growing up with the Grand Prix collection.. i too first played on an Amiga.. but it was my younger brother Chris..(who unfortunately passed away back in 2013)...who took it to another level on his PC particularly Grand Prix 4.. he would do the testing before the race.. the full practice sessions.. Qualifying and full race..all done on the keyboard controls...which were remarkably good. I had a bit of knowledge of how to install a couple of yearly mods he wanted.. great memories of seeing him enjoy the game. Thanks again..and subscribed.

As you say the keyboard controls were great I don't know how Geoff did it but this modder has converted those to the wheel with the same feeling it's magic to me.

Ironically the biggest competitor of GP4 is EAF1C 99-02, which have it's engine spilled off as rF1, and the core engine of AMS

Never played any Crammond games as I was more of a GPL guy back then. I know the importance of the Crammond F1 games though and I have a boxed copy of GP4 and would like to get it up and running just because. Gonna d/l this mod and give it a go. Thanks for the video.

Incredible memories - this mod is magic. I played 2 to death, and even took part in some of what I guess where the forefathers of online racing leagues back in the day. So many evenings trying to whittle my times down for my LFRS events! It's a shame that money dictated that the F1 license went away from Geoff Crammond as he was, and still is, responsible for the best Formula One games to ever be released.

I also had the original Geoff Crammond Grand Prix on the Amiga. What a massive leap forward that game was. Amazing. This mod doesn't have the original tracks just the cars?
