The King's Singers and VOCES8 collaborate for the first time to sing Billy Joel's beautiful 'Lullabye' arranged by Philip Lawson.
Recorded at the VOCES8 Centre in London, and first aired on 24th July 2021 for LIVE From London Summer 2021.

Billy Joel created something extraordinary with this Lullabye and did justice to it on _River of Dreams._ Now VOCES8 and The King's Singers took Billy's creation to a whole 'nother level of exquisite beauty.

When I was very small my older sister would sing this song to me before bed. It made me cry back then because I thought she sang it so sweetly and beautifully, now I'm hearing it again many years later and I'm so grateful-thank you, thank you! ❤️

I can never listen to this without weeping. It completely undoes me, I fall apart. I had to sing this in choir during a really tough time in my life. This was sung and arranged so beautifully that the tears flow even harder, your voices, the melody and the words say all that was in my heart.
We sing it in my choir, and for me it's very difficult because it also makes me cry and my voice is awfully trembling !

I cannot overstate how exhilarating it is to hear exquisitely talented human beings achieve such a perfect balance & blend of harmonies and, dynamics, without the interference of auto-tune and other, technological atrocities. Pure Heaven!
I am coming 80. Music has been my life. The number of covers that I have thought were better than the original I can count on one hand. This is one of them, Pure, pure class. Brilliantly written by Billy Joel. But VOCES8 and the Kings singers have taken this beautiful song to a whole new heavenly place.

My grandfather was a Navy vet, and this is song I requested for his funeral in 2005. You helped me today, and I thank you for that.

Weeping my eyes out, listening to this and thinking how much I love my nine children and my one baby grandson. . I also have so many things I want to say to them and long for them all to walk with the dear saviour Jesus Christ, who willingly laid down His life for us and took our place on the cross so we could have life.
I’m just totally wrecked. Obviously this is one of the most magnificent choral arrangements and executions ever in vocal music. The listening to each other. The magic in that alone is black-out exquisite. What an experience. 😢❤

I have heard 2 versions by The King's Singers, and love them, this is now another favourite.. *Squeal, heart melts & then I Sob into my hanky*

Well that is worthy of a standing ovation. Both for the genius who wrote the song and for these very talented singers! This version is just about perfect as it would soothe any child (or adult) who is fighting off the turmoil of the day. Listening to this probably lowered my blood pressure 10 points.

Oh Halleluja :)! Be blessed All of you. I cried the whole song. I cried because of Jesus mercy to me and my life. I walked through two divorces. Lost my job after 19 years. The only savior in my circumstances through this hard experiences is Jesus. I can only confess He is my savior ! The last time it was at 14th November in year 2020. I felt lost and depressed. I felt I have no future. The Jesus saved me from death and I only can praise him for his endless love to me. He is the only savior to me and for All mankind. Please, give your whole life to him. Actually, Billy Joel's Lullaby is too small when two such masterful ensembles meet, but the marvelous arrangement brings together the warm, pleasant voices of the King's Singers and the incredible sopranos and chorus of voces8 in such a way that both groups are shown to their best advantage, resulting in a dreamlike overall sound. I don't think it gets any better than this.
Each ensemble has the killer-sopranos.And they both United before my very ears! 2:45

Indeed, it should be mandatory. I love all the members of Voces 8, but Andrea above all. Each and every one of these singers is a star, in my opinion, but I cannot detect the slightest trace of ego in them -- perhaps it's a requirement for membership.

I love the version! And as much as I have to give the two ensembles credit for performing so beautifully, I equally have to credit Billy Joel for writing such a beautiful song. I still think he wrote some of the best music of the 70s, 80s and even early 90s.
