13:15 Hahaha in other island that history is true, but in La gomera there are not cave-houses, are more like cave stables. 28:08 You should explore more there, there are 3 beaches one at the dock, the long one, and one nudist called the "english beach". Also have a big hippie vibe, the tourism started in the 70s where hippies drug with a naturalized variant of stramonium but nowadays is mostly weed.
Hello. My name is Gabriela and together with my husband Hajo, we own the Oso café vgr restaurant in valle Gran Rey la Gomera. Wowww, just wanted to say thank you so so much, we had no idea you included us in your video, we just found out today from 2 clients who discovered us through your video!!! We just felt so so honored and grateful and wanted to say a huge Thank You for mentioning us and for talking so so nice about our home basically. Means a lot to us and you managed to bring tears of happiness on our faces today. Next time you visit Gomera consider yourself (both of you) our guests and we would be happy to invite you to try many more plates as our guests. Wish you all the best and thank you again, Gabriela and Hajo Schulz
Great video about La Gomera, I sat next to a ex pat British lady on my flight home this October who has lived on the island for 30 years. She told me she was a former journalist sent to Tenerife all those years ago on a assignment and had 4 days off. She got the boat over to La Gomera, fell in love with it. She went back to the UK sold everything and moved there with her 2 children and has stayed ever since. Even her 3 children now grown up and both married and still live there to this day. One on my list to visit.
There’s nothing I love more than stories like this- absolutely fantastic and thank you so much for sharing! I 100% see why- it’s a place that you can easily fall in love with
Where’s Clarkson, Hammond and May. You’d make a great team. I hope Amazon are watching Freddie. And you so remind me of your mannerisms of Keith Floyd when you ask Monica to get a shot of something close up
Freddy your a starry eyed romantic historical freak.. and I think I speak for the majority of us we all love you for it mate.. you drip enthusiasm 😀👍😊🇿🇦
Hi Freddie / Monica. I am glad that you continue to discover the Canary Islands and this time La Gomera. In reference to the roads that you comment on in the 60s throughout the Canary Islands, the roads that there are today did not exist. There were also fewer cars than are currently on our roads. Tell you that during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) many of the soldier drivers who were on both sides, were from the Canary Islands since they were considered the best drivers in Spain (imagine how the roads in the Canary Islands would be at that time). The Laurisilva forest of La Gomera is the same as that of the Anaga Rural Park (in Tenerife) and La Caldera de Taburiente (in La Palma). I hope that in your second part you have visited the Garajonay Park, because that is one of the wonders that exists in La Gomera. Greetings and I encourage you to continue discovering the Canary Islands.
Hello! My new friend. Wow! It's such a healing and touching 🤍🌳💛 motorcycle trip video. The scenery of nature is so fantastic. Have a lucky 💘💖💙 day. 👍👍👍🤙👌
Fredd, first of all, found your channel a few weeks ago and I'm loving it, congrats for such an amazing job. Lived in the UK for a few years, love my bike and I'm glad you're in the islands now enjoying the whole thing and doing such a wicked job. I was born and raised in Valle Gran Rey, but I've been out of there for over half of my life, and I'm so happy you ended up visiting... Only thing I would say is yes, the restaurant owner is quite big headed... that town is visited regardless of his joint, or any other thing rich european hippies come up with over there...it's been an amazing spot since early 60s and it will continue to be so. That "other restaurant" you guys saw next to it, is "charco del conde", which is one of the bests and oldest, together with "el paraiso", "la bocana del puerto", "la salsa" and some other "musts" in town. I understand you already had a fair amount of "typical" canary islands food in Tenerife and that's fine, but I encourage you to visit any of those spots next time. They wouldn't give you such an arrogant "people come to this side of the island to try my food" bullshit, and you guys would get the full experience of local produce, traditional cooking and excellent costumer service. Thanks for such beautiful videos. You guys have fun and thanks again :)
Absolutely brilliant Freddie. Every time you say “I cannot tell you how excited I am” I think, you don’t need to! Your enthusiasm is great to see and is what we need to see more of. I hope someone pays for you to travel around so we can see your adventures, it would be brilliant!
nearly all of my family comes from La Gomera, such a magical place, as you say Europe´s best kept secret, thanks lot for showing this breathtaking island !
I cannot say anything that hasn't already been said, but how I wish I had done something like this in my youth, but I love seeing you and Monica soaking it all up looking forward to the next one, stay safe the pair of you.
Brilliant video Freddie, really interesting to learn about the history of the Islands and the forest of horizontal rain looked amazing. 😀👍 Looking forward to the next one.
Another testament to Freddie and Monika’s content: when I first saw “49:11,” I thought, ‘what?’ However, I could have followed you two for another 30! Such wonderful views, music, editing, and content/storytelling! Better and better with each vlog, and I cannot wait to witness some of these wonders in person someday. Can’t wait for Part II. Cheers!!
You are spot on Freddie, La Gomera is magical. I sailed there 30 years ago and rented an open top jeep to explore the island. Started off in T shirt and shorts and by the time we got to the top of the island we were cold and wet :-) We also found a ghost town, an ex cannery town on the south of the island only accessible by boat. Like you, we found most of the tourists were from Germany and no Brits. Very civilised place.
Gomera is our favourite holiday island. Valle Gran Rey is particularly beautiful and has an excellent climate. Thank you for the wonderful photographs. All the best for your future travels in the Canaries.
Amazing documentary made with love that you feel for the island. My compliment to Monica on her excellent camera work and you for the great comments all the time. And at 49 + That majestic abandoned illegal villa was owned by a rich German architect who started building it in a protected natural area without any building permits about 40 years ago. And probably thinking that he could get it later with a sum of money under the table, even if you think you live on an isolated island, things don't work like that. I live here here since 1998 and only have be once back to France. The attraction of La Gomera, if you fall in love with it, you will never leave.
We love these videos my wife and I. Weather is pretty bad here in the UK and so we not riding our bike at the moment. So it's good to follow you and Monica on your travels in what looks like paradise.
Visited this little gem of an island a couple of years ago.. Loved it. The views are truely spectacular from the miradors.....We stayed down south in Val Gran Rey but rented a little cabriolet for 3 days and toured... So glad we did as the roads (sheer drops on every hairpin) need to ventured.. Stopped so many times to seek out little nooks and crannies with a photo opportunity at every turn. And fabulous walks... Great for the cardio. So glad you guys tried it and captured a snapshot of this beautiful place. Keep up the sterling work guys.
You have a fantastic positive way of telling very interesting storys on your trip and you wife/girlfriend is great at using the camera, paning and getting the right shots. Your channel is really great!! Keep up the spirit.
We watch about 8 Vloggers on the Canary Islands and you have shown us something very special and different in travelling to La Gomera something we’ve always wanted to do for the past 30 years . Thank you so Much Freddie and Monika , love your presentations very professional and informative.
Another brilliant blog, still not mastered “A-Deck-Ay” 😉 but I forgive you because your enthusiasm is electric, eg 33 minutes in, Monica catches the view and it takes her breath away “Wow Wow Wow” and you are round the corner enthusing about a worn out road and a smelly old cave….Priceless 😂
Bugger- from now on, I WILL get the Adeje pronounciation right!! Monika was very very close to her limit with me by the end of the day (unfortunately she cut out the point where she finally snapped!😆)
Hi, sheer magic , once again Freddie and Monika , you have sold me on the Islands .Thank you for another refreshing Sunday morning . Ride and stay safe .
A cave house that you can dig as large as an Olympic size swimming pool ? Freddie & Monika could really have a nice house & content for the channel for a few years so build & dig away lol ... Monika seems a bit camera shy & as usual the Duracell bunny AKA Freddie's electric energy / excitement wins the day with some superb camera work / editing from Monika ( must of taken/effort a lot of work & time re this video part 1 ) .. we need 1 hour super content & we get only 49 mins lol... Freddie more excited than the viewers again.. can't wait for part 2 as part 1 was amazing/you best video to date .. & thank you guys for the winter sun, spectacular views , music & magical rainbow finish from a very dull cold UK . ... Freddie this really was a superb video & my mum also loves your channel now... have great day guys
Thanks so much Mark, and I’m delighted to hear your mum’s watching too!🙂 I’ve got Monika looking into some cave houses online, so hopefully she’ll find something suitable!😆
Another classic piece of work. What a beautiful place, love the way you present things between you both. Great team work, I have never seen a rain cloud with its own rainbow in such a condensed form before, Priceless.
Thanks for another brilliant video Freddie & Monika! 49 minutes that literally flew by! La Gomera has incredible roads and scenery, I wish I could ride my MV through those twisties! Paradise.
Superb video - i think it's your best of the very many from your time in Tenerife. My Polish neighbours have done the same as you and have decamped to Tenerife for the winter.... soiunds like a plan.
Your love of older cars is very pleasing to me, I have a Twenty year old Jaguar X type in immaculate condition that we use every day. I purchased one of the first Toyota Corona in the UK (1964 ) at a cost of £777
The German are in La Gomera and the British are in Sitges :) Another wonderful spot, such a quiet place. A perfect isolation to take off the metropolitan life's stress. Wow! The morning coffee in the terrasse... Enjoy :) Cheers from Algiers!
46:30 "Well done Monica" Thanks to your persona Freddie, and your fantastic photography, editing and organisational skills Monica, you now have more subscribers than the population of a Canary Island. :-) Great vid. thanks again both.
Fantastic long vidio a sunday treet so much init ill have to watch it 2 or 3 times thank you both for your efforts and the lovely monica spoted a cat !🐈🌈🍾 plus part 2 to come
Fantastic vlog Freddie and monika showing what a great place La gomera is, They told us the wine rarely gets exported because its no cheaper or better then any of the other islands produce so they don't bother ,Never herd of Valle gran ray before obviously seems that coach tours never visit there unfortunately! but what a lovely place a hidden gem for most tourists and i suppose that's the way they prefer it to be and i can't blame them can't wait for the next one thanks.
Just watched this one, La Gomera looks absolutely stunning and that hotel!! Living the dream you two, so glad I found this. Trying not to catch up too fast!xx
Brilliant weather, scrumptious food and a great Island to explore. Love the bike rides, and well done to Monica who is making these amazing videos . Gomera is an arabic word, means molten rock, molten rocks and the LA is THE ie the molten rocks. I think it was called that by North African Arab sailors, as it is a volcanic island. And in Dubai there is the Gomera or Jumairah beach. Thank you to both of you, I know now where to take my next bike holiday. ENJOY
I was just a week ago in Gomera!! We had bad weather unfortunately so no huge Miradors etc for us, but it still is a magical place. You should visit San Sebastian and go inside Parador La gomera, it has a beatiful view
Loved the island view from your bike and words, you are so fortunate to be doing what you're doing. Can't wait to see what's next. Ride safe both of you.
I am loving ur vlogs about Tenerife and now La Gomera, specially the fact that u are showing that here on the islands is more than just sun and beaches, which we have and they are beautiful, but we have so much than that and it's amazing that u are showing that. All the canaries are worth a visit for sure. Keep up the good job!
La Gomera looks fabulous. Great video. It is a dark sky park too. The street lights are hooded and they do a lot to reduce light pollution. It's a great destination to study the night sky. I've been up Teide at night and it is breathtaking. Well worth a trip if you haven't been up at night. Those old roads would be great walking or mountain biking trails. Can't wait to see more of this island in your videos.
Great Video Freddie! I just subsribed your channel, as I am always looking and of course liking your videos. Last winter/spring I spent six months in TF, making trips to Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma and with your videos I am just living it again! 😉
Brilliant blog Freddie & Monika. Was in La Gomera a couple of years back BC (Before Covid) but only for a day trip from TF. It's now definitely on my list for a longer stay after your blog. Hope you enjoyed dinner!
Nice start to La Gomera and superb hotel. Great walkrounds and camera work from Monika. You clearly have a head for heights Freddie as there were a few times I caught myself say 'no, no not the edge mate'. Scenery is tremendous and amazingly good facilities for such a remote location. Look forward to Part 2.
Me too, John - I'm often yelling at the TV "Ffs Freddie, stop walking backwards while you're talking!" I know even Monika said "be careful" at one point in this video.......we need to keep you alive Freddie, so we can have more fabulous videos and live vicariously through you! 😜
Lovely video, that abandoned under construction villa had my attention. Cash only was funny for the wine, cause I knew for some reason that was going to happen. The cleanliness and varying topography is astounding. I'm a clean freak , my kind of islands. I should of stuck with that job in Mauritania back in 74.
13:15 Hahaha in other island that history is true, but in La gomera there are not cave-houses, are more like cave stables. 28:08 You should explore more there, there are 3 beaches one at the dock, the long one, and one nudist called the "english beach". Bang on Boys … same page 😆
I wish someone from the main TV channels would commission you. You and Monika produce some fantastic and very watchable TV.
So well prepared Freddie “I even brought a screwdriver”!
Does he know how to work it though?!

Absolutely brilliant so entertaining
Another brilliant video! well done guys! 🥰
Loved that, thankyou both
Nice start to La Gomera and superb hotel.
Some of those roads really did make my stomach go! Monika constantly (and very nervously!) keeping check😆
