- Monika and I packed up the Triumph Bonneville at 4am and rode from South East London to the Isle of Wight for a two day trip.
We were blown away by how stunning this little island just off the south coast of the UK is. We explored almost the entire island, including Ventnor, Freshwater and Ryde- it’s all absolutely stunning!
Turquoise water, sandy beaches, fantastic riding (and driving) roads and beautiful scenery, very well preserved old buildings plus we were lucky with beautiful weather the whole trip.
I’d hugely recommend visiting the Isle of Wight- it makes for a brilliant holiday or can even be done in a day if time’s tight!

Freddie just joined the bike community again after a 30 year lay off. like your reviews very much and hope you don't mind me asking a slightly strange question? was wondering where do you sourced your tee shirts from as I need to purchase some new ones as the missus has told me to replace my old favorites as they are now past there best, have to say she is probably right. I like to have the sleeves nice and long as per the white one you were wearing on the Isle of wight trip, also been trying to source a pair of the Alpha trousers as well but not with much success as yet. Great channel keep up the good work my friend.
All the best
Glen
I love the iow, shanklin to freshwater on the military road by bike what a ride 💜
Watching from the states, what a beautiful place my grandfather was stationed on the Isle of Wight from 1902 to 1908 in the British Army. He ended up in Gibraltar for his reserves and he stayed in Gib.
Isle of Wight is my home, i love it 💖🏖🏕 and proud to live here . For everyone...: Please , take care of what the Nature offers us💖🌱🌾🌷💖🌍🏜💖🌐💖
It’s just beautiful there. Revisited the island last year with my Dad for the first time since I was 14….I’m 45 now and bumped into a guy we used to see there all the time. It’s my safe place.
Amazing.... I live on the isle of wight, love it here... such a beautiful place to live
I live on the island and this makes me realise I’m lucky to live here
Same
Me too.
@@jimbobaby01@Richy Downer what bikes do you ride?
And me😂
You are very very luck to live off the mainland. I come over every opportunity I can for a few days. I just love it there and the people are just really nice. So different from the mainland alot of the time.
I have seen 100’s of motorcycling vlogs and videos detailing where to go and what to do, and this by far is the best one yet!! Well done to you both and keep it up!!
That means a huge amount, I'm delighted you enjoyed it!🙂
I agree.
Love the Isle of Wight me - me and Mrs Flyer are regular visitors by air (but never with the bike...yet!). If you go again I recomend Steep Hill Cove near Ventnor - take the track next to the cricket club down to some amazing hidden beach side fish cafe's.....
Thanks!
@@FreddieDobbs Those Fortresses were built in the late 19th Century to repel invasion from Napoleon III - the nephew and heir of Napoleon Bonaparte.
Thanks for this relaxing way to spend Sunday morning.
Love the Isle of Wight. Enjoyed watching this. 👍🏻
Damn....you've discovered my Island.....stunning isn't it.
It blew my mind!🖤
I live there too! Isn’t it amazing?
Been coming to the IoW since the mid 1970s with my family when I was a small child.
I've kept coming back since then.
The fortunes of the resorts wax and wain but I've never fallen out of love with the island. Always find peace and beauty.
I've been a motorcyclist since aged 16 in 1985 but never yet taken a motorbike there. Plenty of cars but never a bike.
I think that I need to fix this.
Thanks Freddie and Monika.
Found the channel when the "Indian" content popped up on my feed but I've stayed for the vloging quality. Loving the relaxed but enthusiastic style
I'm really happy to hear it, thanks very much!🙂
Super video. Monika's production quality is off the charts! Keep up that positivity Freddie!
Thank you Gucci, I've shown this to Monika!😃
Pity Monica didn’t get a look in all about him -
@@barbarag868the channel is called Freddie Dobbs 😂
Great to see you visited us on the South island and glad you enjoyed the beautiful Isle of Wight.
I was blown away Rob- it's an often overlooked gem of the UK!🖤
Just lovely! Thanks Freddie and Monica
Come visit the Lake District. Stunning scenery and great twisty roads
Very good shout- they have the finest roads I've ever ridden in the UK! We'll try and head over this summer🙂
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thanks
stunningly beautiful, love the ride along the coast as well as the Ferry 👍🏻
I like The Dengie Peninsular in Essex, about 2 hours ride from North London. It has the oldest church in England, St Peter's Chapel, built in 645. The Blackwater Estuary is on the Northern edge where you can often see those huge wooden sailing barges. A beautiful and atmospheric place. It is an important area for bird watching and there is a protected nesting area just near the church.
Thanks very much Thomas, I've saved this!🙂
Great video sir. Good too see people actually rediscovering the beauty of the UK. You must visit “the needles” you could see them from the distance on your video.
next time you planing a visit to the south ride around the new forest. Stop at Lyndhurst, visit the Beaulieu motor museum. Ride to Corfe Castle. And end up at the day at Old Harry Rocks. It’s stunning there.
Enjoy the island.
Thank you so much- I've just saved your tip to my list!🙂
Excellent vlog, my son a I were there last week in the heatwave on our Bikes (Enfield Interceptor and Triumph Street Twin), I regularly visit the Island and you are right it is stunning. The roads are now super smooth since being resurfaced last year, if you venture inland there are so many more beautiful villages and brilliant rides. I cant wait to return and it will be sooner rather than later.
Thanks Peter!
That is a fine pair of bikes- two of my absolute favourites!🖤
Excellent vlog I really enjoyed it never been to the Isle of Wight you’ve sold it to me 👍
These videos have made me want to head to the Isle of Wight, not sure my little 125 will make it though 😃
Of course it will fellow biker. 👍🏻
You can do it on a 125cc 100%!🙂🤘
A great Sunday morning vlog to watch and thoroughly enjoy. Looking forward to part 2. Many thanks for sharing.
Thanks Simon!
Absolutely beautiful!
What a fantastic video, its like watching a TV program, very well done. We have been to I.O.W. for the last 2 years and we are off there again in a weeks time and looking forward to it. There was supposed to be motorbike racing but sadly its been cancelled again.
Never mind we will still have a great trip. going to find Part 2 now.
Wow.. The level of photography and production is continously rising, and fast! Great video!! Your commentary, your positive vibe and elegant style is as good as always - its so relaxing and nice to pour my self a good cup of coffee and wach your videos. Exellent mix of bike reviews, gear and scenery. Keep it up mate! All the best to you and Monica! :)
Agreed. The camerawoman deserves a raise.
Hugely appreciated, thank you! I've shown this to Monika🙂
couldn't agree more!
Thanks to your vid I'm on isle of wight right now 😉
my home! very blessed and so pleased you enjoyed your stay! the Island is an amazing place to live and visit.
The Lotus Esprit was from The Spy Who Loved Me. Love your videos!
Like most people outside of Britain, I first learned about the Isle of Wight in a lyric from the Beatles song, "When I'm Sixty-Four." Then, I saw parts of it for the first time in a Sam Pilgrim cycling video about a year ago. Your video is the first I'm seeing that focuses solely on its beauty and splendor. Thank you for showing me more of this spectacular place! I'll have to go when I visit Britain. Cheers from Los Angeles!
Spent many days on this island. You’ve inspired me to go back on a bike someday. Nice video, thanks Freddie
The Military road into Freshwater has stunning views and great for bikes. The Piano bar is lovely, the Red Lion serves fantastic food.
Really great little film. The best adventures are often when you have low expectations and have your mind blown. Beautifully filmed. I'll be heading down there for sure. Glad I stumbled across this channel
Couldn't agree more, and thanks Marcus!🙂
I was born on the Island. It was a wonderful place to grow up. Glad you enjoyed your trip.😀
Who else noticed his habit of cancelling the indicators haha I’ve got the same habit… riding on a country road, straight forward and still pressing that button hahaha fun that
I can’t help myself!!🤣🤣
Freddie we just watched your video on the Isle of Wight, and how beautiful does any island get? Oh my goodness what eye candly....Thanks to you both for your most amazing photography, and the ride....Have a good one from Canada, Carolyn and Colin Hogarth from Osoyoos B.C. Thank you....
I couldn’t believe how nice the island was!🖤👌🏻👌🏻
Fantastic to have viewers from Canada, thank you Carolyn and Colin!🙂
Love the Isle of Wight been many times
Your vlog captures the beauty of the Island perfectly .. Well done ..
When you go again, check out The Reef in Sandown, super location
and great value, also Valentinos Italian Carisbrooke is a lovely place to eat .. Cheers Freddie, take care of your lady and stay 😷 safe
Thanks!🙂
Brilliant video! I love the isle of Wight it's a beautiful place.
People often discount the British isles for holidays, yet when weather permitting, it's a beautiful amazing place with stacks of history and stunning architecture.
As for recommending places ...where to start there are so many. Will get back to you with a list. 🤣😉
Thanks Kelly and I totally agree- there are so many nice places in the UK (IOW is one of my absolute favourites now!😍)
Best vid to cap my weekend! Thanks for taking us with you. The last bit was hilarious.
Thanks Gerald, glad you enjoyed it!😆
Just discovered your channel (after a recommendation from the Missenden Flyer) really like your vlogs, they are a little different from the usual motorcycle 'vlogs' with loads of interesting content, I never thought about taking my bike to the Isle of Wight however after watching your video its on my must visit list for 2022.
Great video guys
Thanks Ray!
Nice one Freddie, some good ideas for a future trip for me….
Love the honest uncomplicated simplicity. Refreshing to watch real people just exploring and having a laugh, on a simple British bike. Top job both of you!
Really appreciate it, thank you!🙂
Hi Freddie, have just watched this great video. Did you know that at this time it is being organised to have the equivalent of the ‘ Isle of Man TT ‘ , but on the Isle of White. Read this in the MCN paper.
Great blogs and lovely filming. I live not too far from your journey through the Royal hospital blog, you covered it very well and enjoyable to watch. Good luck to you both in your travels and be safe.
I lived on the isle of wight..I had an old honda 200 ..a motorbike is far better on the island with all it's tiny roads..BUT I never enjoyed the noise of a motorbike engine..it was always such a relief to reach my destination and switch it off...oh how I wish I could do it all again on an electric motorbike . I am so into the idea of a quiet electric motorbike.
It was a very nice feeling after riding the Harley Livewire, jumping off the bike and not having my ears ringing🙂
Elan valley in Wales. I only first visited in 2019 but it’s easily one of the most stunning places I’ve been to in the UK recently. Wales in general tbh is beautiful.
Thanks so much- I've just saved this to my list!
Jeez guys where was your mind thinking a 2hr ride at that was gonna be warm ha : D but at least it was really nice there it is a nice place to visit though . great vid as per cheers : )
Absolute stupidity- I have no idea what I was thinking!!😆
Thanks Malcolm🙂
I thought the IOW was full of sink council estates full of refugees from Birmingham, you really have opened my mind, cheers Freddie x
Honestly... so did I! I watched a documentary on the IOW about eight years ago and it made the island look awful! I was amazed at how beautiful it is!
Wonderful video guys , always watchable. From teesside with love.
Was intended to run their own version of the TT, would be excellent if that plan came to fruition. Nice video, must do an overnight there, the only caveat is the weather is a gamble. Finally if I am riding on a warm day I will carry a rain suit that will roll up into a bumbag, won’t warm you up but will keep the wind chill down.
Someone one the island mentioned their IOM equivalent- apparently next year it arrives! I very stupidly left my waterproofs at home because I do exactly the same (use them as a wind breaker)
The first off Ryde/Seaview are Napoleonic xx
The Hidaway pub.. check the views from the garden.Foods great also
Ahhhhh we missed it! I just googled it- next time we'll be going there!
Just watched your latest video. Love the IOW we have decided to go back next year for our holidays after watching. Sadly wont be taking my bike as we will be taking our puppy and the panniers wouldn't even hold my wife's shoes.
I can imagine that'd be tricky with the dog and all those shoes on a bike!😆 I'll definitely be back to the IOW- I was genuinely amazed!
We was there last week and you must have followed us round. Had Motorhome for accommodation with CB1100 on trailer behind. Camped on an excellent CL site at Merstone which was only 15 mins to any coast. Great Island (reminded us of the Isle of Mann) and many really good restaurants especially seafood.
No way, I'm surprised I didn't see you but I'd have definitely remembered a CB1100 being pulled by a motorhome (one of my favourite bikes- I've never ridden one, so purely from a looks perspective)!
I need to visit the IOM!
we visited the island 3 weeks ago...loved it! I called it my paradise...
Great vlog! Looking forward to part two.
Thanks Dale
Visited the Isle of Wight a couple of years ago, brought back some good memories. Cheers
Ventnor is lovely, my favourite beach and place to eat!
Isle of wight is the best ,been many times....👍👍🏴🇬🇧
A young couple should never worry about warming up... Joke aside ... another enjoyable video... keep up the good work!
Thanks Juan!😆
You just drove passed my house. The Sea Forts - there are 4 - date from the mid 19th century, two of them are hotels, but the parking is terrible!!!
Another great video 👍
Thanks Tim!
Lived on the West Wight in Freshwater for 2 years. An unforgettable experience and there really is nothing like living by the sea, most weekends included 10-15 mile walks around the coast surrounded by the most astounding scenery. Great video!
love the isle of wight . best place on the planet . i intend to retire there
You want an hour and half on a ferry my friend try Red Funnel. Southampton to Cowes.
Thanks Stevie!
you need to go to steephill cove in ventnor
i live in Shanklin and its my first too beach to chill out
Thanks Stephen, saved!🙂
Loved that Little trip, been going to the Isle of Wight for years, love it there, great video, a lot of fun
Really good pub is “The Pointer Inn”
Newchurch. Really good food and beer, big garden. Sunday roast is a must! £11odd
Thanks for coming, fortunate to live in Southsea, across the water from the Isle of Wight, such a stunning island, thanks for sharing
Thank you for visiting and showing off our beautiful little island, we really are spoilt here.
Glad you enjoyed the Island, i was born here and came back to live here again after 16yrs away, i missed it so much, beautiful place to live and visit. 💖
Thanks Valerie, I definitely see why you returned!🙂
I wish I had discovered your channel earlier in the year. I've lived on the island for just over 5 years. For a tourist it takes about a week to explore it properly. My recommendations. Cripple Path, Bonchurch Slip, Devil's Chimney, Luccombe Bay (at Spring low tide - see my video), Ventnor Downs in Spring (with evil looking goats), Bembridge RNLI lifeboat station, Monks Bay (seals), Steephill Cove, Tennyson Down, Gore Cliff, Blackgang Beach, Alverstone woodland walkways, Yaverland beach north of Sandown, Eastern bank of the Medina River, The Culver, Bembridge Ledge, Appuldurcombe House, The Longstone, Godshill Church, Watcombe Bay at low tide, Newtown Creek, Victoria Fort, Alum Bay, Carisbrooke Castle. I'm thinking of turning my 2 bed bunglow nto an Airbnb. 100Mbs broadband. Garage for bikes.
Excellent trip and video Freddie. I rarely watch videos of this length but you and Monica made it worthwhile.
Delighted you enjoyed it, thanks Mike!
Look at that, not a " grooming gang " in sight.
Ps don’t tell everyone it’s a hidden gem! 😂
One of my favorite places on earth.
Great video and I am inspired to go to the Isle of Wight after seeing this. I live near the Brecon Beacons in Wales which is also a great place to visit.
Ooooo I went to the Brecon Beacons last year- stunning scenery and incredible roads!🖤
First time watching your video and only stumbled upon it but now I’m hooked because Bonneville is my dream bike. The Isle of Wight looks amazing, if you ever get the chance bring your bike to Achill Island in County Mayo, Ireland. You’ll thank me later ✊🏻🏍
Thanks so much for the tips!
Amazing scenery!!!! Great video as always, keep up the good work!
Thanks!🙂
Isle of Wight's definitely on my bucket list now. If you're ever tempted to visit the Peak District, a very popular biker hangout is Matlock Bath. It's like someone took a seaside resort and moved it into Derbyshire.
I Love IOW❤ Can't wait to go there again:)
Love the IOW, this is the 4th rear in a row that I'm going there...
Wish I had room for my bike 🏍
I live on the Isle of Wight and I forgot how beautiful it is over here
Culver down is a great place for a sunset, the buddle Inn at Niton just outside Ventnor is a 16th century smugglers Inn with great sea views, for a longer ferry ride go from Southampton to cowes
Thanks very much John!
Welcome to my home! The forts date from the 1860’s. You made our island look very special indeed….which it is of course.
I was blown away by the beauty of it! And also amazed at how old the forts are!
Beautifully presented video. My wife and I visit the IOW regularly, especially now we have just retired. It's a magical place. Have subscribed.
*Hello Freddie, You seems to be a mind reader*
The sea forts are from the Napolionic wars not ww2
Great vlog and information, now looking forward to part 2.
The Sea Forts are "Palmerston Forts", built in 1859 to protect Portsmouth from possible French attack.
Thanks Simon, I was amazed to find out how old they were!
@@FreddieDobbs Thank you for your vlogs, they’re very inspiring and enlightening. The wife and me look forward to watch more of your adventures.
My dream Car! The Lotus Esprit aka "Wet Nelly" that Roger Moore drove in "The spy who loved me"
15 year old me almost had a nocturnal emission in the theater when 007 turned the car into a submarine.
I was staring at the car more than the bikini clad Caroline Munroe!
Elon Musk supposedly owns the submarine version.
Great video as always.
He drove another Lotus Esprit in FYEO - briefly. Unfortunately, it had a rather overeager anti-theft system, so we didn't get to see it in action.
Fantastic!!!🤣🤣
That's the one- The Spy Who Loved Me! Still one of my favourite Bond scenes and also a dream car of mine!🙂
Went twice Isle of Wight, once solo with motorbike then took family , absolutely loved it and great video you made !
You too as I have a habit of pressing the indicator switch to make sure it's off lol
Hey thanks for bigging up my home, makes me feel very lucky. One historical point tho` those forts in the Solent were built to keep Napoleon and his boney parts out (protect Portsmouth) I believe you can have a meal and stay on one of them.
Palmerston's forts. If you're interested in the history of them it's worth reading up on Palmerston's folly.... Hugely expensive and never needed but amazing piece of engineering for the time.
dude as a biker,u gotta try wales and scotland,
Good shouts!
Lovely. I went there the end of August 2024. Travelled from Pompey and camped at the Windmill Campsite. Me and my 25 year old Triumph Tiger. Loved the Military Road, Went to Mottisstone, beautiful views from the stones atop the hill, further along you can just about see France. Good times.
Great vid mate, great scenery. Motorcycling is definitely the best thing ever, I can’t understand people who don’t do it…. 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤣
Could't agree more!😆🏍
Didn't see your bike strapped down securely on the ferry, don't they use webbing ratchet straps? I was just typing this question when you came back on and spoke about the very same thing,
