"Dyed. Fried. Laid to the side."😄
Freedom to choose is a God given gift. Choose wisely(Deut 30:19,20; Psalm 83:18; John 17:3).
Natural hair is what grows out of your scalp follicles or not synthetic. Straightening and coloring are just processes done to natural hair imo.
The textured hair community/social media influencers are making things more complicated than it used to be. Keep it simple is my go to phrase.
There are "more important things" to be concerned with than hair (Phil 1:10)
    Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾😊🎉

I truly understand where you're coming from. Because natural hair is natural hair. That's just like a baby being born. That is their natural hair. Nothing's in it, no chemicals. No dyes.colors are chemicals. Relaxed hair is chemically treated, but once relax hair grows. Because everybody here grows the hair that's coming out of the following calls are brand new and that is natural, but the bottom end of the hair. If this relaxed is relaxed, it's chemically treated, so I wouldn't say it was natural even though it's our hair, but it's not our natural hair. You get what I'm saying.. Because it have chemical in it. I'm relaxed. That has been relaxed since 2017.
And you're absolutely right.Natural hair means nothing is in there.Except when you wash and deep condition and maybe add a leave in and some type of oil to seal in that moisture that's it.
But if you color your hair it is not natural. A lot of naturals feel that they are natural even with color if you relax your hair. I know that my hair is not natural. It's chemically treated and it is therefore not my natural hair that I'm wearing but the hair that grows out of my hair within a few weeks. That is my name. Is natural hair except for at the bottom.
Lovely topic. We're getting ready for services.Hope to see you in your next video. God-Bless you 🪷 ❤

Maybe distinguish it as virgin hair vs natural hair would be more accurate. We are probably the only culture that has this extent of distinctions and like I said this could get really problematic as any change made to our hair is not considered natural. Just a thought 💭

I have dyed hair, so it's technically chemically processed even though my curl pattern is still 100% intact.
We use natural as shorthand, the term really should be naturally curly IMO. Back in the day the full name of the Afro was the "afro natural"
    4:56 I agree!

I have ditched the term natural. There is just too much politics around black women's hair, most of it perpetrated by ourselves. Early in my natural hair days a white friend commented on this very thing. She said we are complicating an issue that shouldn't be divisive.

I think it's personal choice. I don't label or tell anyone what to do with their hair. I'm a 63 AA who has been natural for about 13 years. I initially relaxed in boot camp for convenience. My head gear didn't fit and we didn't have tools in boot camp. I remained relaxed for 30+ years. Chris Rock's movie Good Hair and menopause convinced me to leave the creamy crack.
Maybe it's a generational and regional thing because me and my friends/family members don't get the disputes about what is considered natural. Most of us grew up during the Angela Davis and Pam Greer big afro years. I've fried and dyed my "natural" hair over the years, but still considered myself natural.
I don't bash anyone who chooses relaxers. My concerns are for their health.

This is fair and unbiased. Maybe a more accurate term would be “virgin hair” because though altered, if hair is growing from your scalp, it’s still your real hair

@@CoilyDiaries I agree that virgin hair might be a better term, but some folks are still going to put their own spin on it. After damaging my hair quite a few times, I appreciate the low maintenance of my virgin hair. I wash, condition, moisturize and style. I do an occasional protein treatment. I'm a "twisted natural" the majority of the time. I do an occasional wash and go, but combatting the Florida heat with loose hair is not my idea of fun.

I agree. Natural hair is any hair I grew. Relaxed, dyed, shaved... it's still hair I grew. If you shaved an a sheep and spun and dyed the fiber you'd still have wool. Right?
