Are there any benefits to this plugin in comparison to the big brother SmartEQ? Or is it just a quicker more CPU-friendly alternative with the choises of bright/neutral/warm modes? Thanks for good content!
I think of the smart:bundle as having more features that you can tweak or even use right off the bat (without using the AI side of it). The pure:bundle is a "quick and dirty" one. For instance, I use the pure:limit whenever I do WIP mixes as a way to get a tasteful volume boost when evaluating mixes and then I don't use it when I do my mastering.
I don't think it has the grouping functionality does it? If I am correct, then to me this is the biggest difference. Smart EQ would be used to group a number of tracks together and have the Smart EQ AI analyze the tracks together and generate processing that will essentially carve space in the mix. Someone please let me know if I am wrong.
I'll use it for adverts/voiceover/games this kind of stuff. It's not only useful for beginners but it seems to be also useful for work with deadlines. Maybe I wouldn't use it for top pop productions (which I don't do) but for a 'broadcast' type of stuff it may save lots of my time, especially in tasks to be done "yesterday if you can, please". Also, it's less distracting than its big brother when Smart EQ features are not needed.
For some learning to mix like myself do think something this would hinder progress? In the long run. I know tools like are going to become more sophisticated and part of the tool kit for producers. but I feel like doing the old school way at least for a while to learn the basic might be best?
Imho learning EQ and especially learning your monitoring system is very long road to go. This tool could help shorten this process. Use it first to dial in sound you want, then try matching it with EQ of your choice.
It's similar to Balancer by Sonible and Focusrite that is free, this has just more settings but it's the same to Balancer that you can download it for free. What do you think about it?
Great video/plugin, David!! (Makes things too easy... but I LOVE that, because I'm an artist at heart.) This adds some significant efficiency to a creative workflow!! 🙂💛
When it comes to live kicks and snares, do you know if they intend for it to be used on gated/isolated tracks or if it’s intended to be used as the first thing you apply? I’m assuming it depends on the scenario but am still curious.
A dynamic range control editable curve would be nice. Instead of filtering it out you could chose how much db the dynamic affects beside of how much it does in general
Hi Is there any difference between PureEQ and SmartEQ? I have found that they work differently. PureEQ always sounded better in the low frequencies, while SmartEQ removed the low frequencies. Do they use different algorithms?
Smart versus pure please David would love to see the differences and are they both useful in there own ways. love the presentation thanks or is smart already obsolete AI
Hello David. Did you test the Cranbourne Audio saturation eq? Would really like to know what you think about this. I think its really something innovative .
I have the sonible EQ that I use mostly for guitars, the EQ profil the plugin make is always the exacte same for guitars. So I wonder it this plugin really come up with brand new eq setting for each material or if it apply the exact same thing under the hood depending of the instrument you choose..
Imagine advance view of this plugin with automated controls represented by those "magic" warm, or other effect, and then you could really learn how to mix
Oh no, does it still use Linear Phase ? this thing might destroy many mixes with its hard to hear Linearphase artifacts. It happend to me that i used the first Version of this AutoEq, and carefully set it right (so i thought) . Months later i realized that Linear Phase over the whole Signal destroys the Vibe.. Absolutely dangerous this thing.. THATS JUST MY OPPINION. IF you think you feel diffeent about Linear Phase, ok..
Also, mooving /dynamic Eq in such tiny BAndwith imho is Dangerous on its own (now that it is Dynamic). I dont like this Gulfoss / or BAby Audios plugin or how they are called, for the same reason. Imho this is highly dangerous if youre aiming for powerfull sound.. you often realize it much later, anyway..
careful now! this is probably sponsored content. David is not allowed to speak badly about this plugin, and you talking bad about it is probably frowned upon :)
we need a pure mix and later a pure mastering Lol...wait... this is coming for sure Edit: Maby a pure Hub/ Suite, with all the pure plugins doing stuff with a fancy UI, presets, etc... o god this is coming, I can see it
You are explaining those tools using perfectly recorded material and it is hard to even hear the difference between perfect and more perfect. Most of us are probably working with average or poorly recorded material. If you don't own that kind of material, you can ask your public to send some live examples.
Is this sponsored content? Can't see it in the description. Why I ask is because I only hear promotional talk, no downside of using this plugin is discussed whatsoever.
First off, it's got 3 knobs. It ain't that complicated, either it works or it doesn't, what "downside" are you looking for? And second, I probably get 10 to 15 requests a week to review plugins, unlike other channels that will push anything for a buck, I don't have to, and if I don't like something, I simply don't use it, don't do videos on it, don't talk about it. I don't and never will understand people who make a video about something they don't like. Or better, I do understand, I gotta mix and I don't have time for that stuff
@@mixbustv fair enough! What's your view on reviewing plugins completely objective and independent? I just feel that viewers these days are persuaded to buy plugins by influencers that just promote plugins rather than give genuine advice. Every plugin has its pros and cons, but more often than not, videos only tell the pros because of developer dependency. When you review analog vs digital for instance, you mention all the cons of digital plugins, but when you review a plugin on its own there's no critique whatsoever.
The answer is in my previous comment. Some people will feature anything on their channel if they're paid for. But don't get fooled, a video pointing out how much someone "dislike" a piece or a software is STILL promotion, it just runs on controversy. The viewers should look at who are they watching and judge based on the idea they have of that person. Are they youtubers and their only livelihood is youtube? Most likely they won't say no to anything, regardless what they think. You will never find me "slipping" or contraddict myself: I have ALWAYS said that plugins don't sound like hardware, with the exceptions of 3 probably that sounds so close (still not the same) that they took the "itch" for me to have the hardware, also because I have enough. So if I review a plugin, I'm not gonna reiterate "hey this plugin is good BUT IT WON"T SOUND LIKE THE HARDWARE" over and over, because people who follows me know what I think, SEE what I use (BOTH) and for what. My body of work is also out there for everyone to see, I mix for a living and that's, I feel, more than enough information for everyone to make up their mind whether or not they can trust me. Digging even more, part of my personal life is out there too so people can see even beyond my channel if they want to. I don't do drama, I'm happily engaged, I'm a highly disciplined man and you probably won't hear anyone who's more successul or more accomplished than me saying something bad about me, you will only see a few people doing less than me saying something off and you can probably count those on one hand.
I like Gulffoss, but I think it would be diminishing to define this one like that. Gulffoss is more a "specialty" plugin while this is a workhorse problem solver you could use on most tracks
GET PURE:EQ shorturl.at/fgDQW
I have more and more respect for the guys at sonible with every new release
They rock!
@@mixbustvAustria
It makes it easy for a beginner to know what their music is supposed to truly sound like. Use it as a learning tool
I think there should be a shoot out between plugins like these. Sonible, Gulfoss, Soothe, etc.
Bella and Sonible are killing it. Ok, you too.. ^^
😄🙌
I can't help but buy this beauty :)))
These things are invaluable for early songwriting / producing stages to quickly get ideas out and sounding good 👌
Huge fan of yours, so was very surprised to be watching this and you play bruises! I wrote and produced that with Lewis ❤
Sonible are a class act. I have 90% of their plugins but only wish I hadn’t spent as much as the pure range are all you need. Amazing
Thanks. I was debating the pure range.
yup. pure is enough to get the sound
heelo alien bro , amazing tutorial ... i start us this EQ this days amazing ..thanks!!

What I find is this EQ is fully dynamic.
This would be a soothe 2 rival
Just lighter and quicker

Bravo plugin!!!! Grazie per questo video, Mr.David. I tuoi video sono vere e proprie lezione, grazie tante !!!!👊

Is it just a small version of smart eq?
yes
Great stuff like always Sonible RULEZ
Sonible did it again. I am using their plugins a lot. Great job, and great video!
Looking good 👍🏾
Great Review, they are doing great things at Sonible. Cheers
How different is this to smart eq3?
I mean, i already have seq3, are the algos different here?
You look good Bro !
😄 thank you
David: How do I look?
Me: I don’t know you told me not mix with my eyes.
insane
For some learning to mix like myself do think something this would hinder progress? In the long run. I know tools like are going to become more sophisticated and part of the tool kit for producers. but I feel like doing the old school way at least for a while to learn the basic might be best?
Correct
Maybe use the plugin recommendation as a starting point and try to recreate it with conventional tools to really hear and dial it in
Imho learning EQ and especially learning your monitoring system is very long road to go. This tool could help shorten this process. Use it first to dial in sound you want, then try matching it with EQ of your choice.

That balancer is $45 USD if you don't own a Focusrite or Novation hardware
I got Smart comp2 but have to confess it requires some user skill to use over the their other products rather than clicking on 'listen' function
Smart EQ3 has all of these features ?
Great video/plugin, David!! (Makes things too easy... but I LOVE that, because I'm an artist at heart.) This adds some significant efficiency to a creative workflow!! 🙂💛
Just bought it thanks.
Cool. Let the force be with you :)

If you're gonna gate, gate first
@@mixbustv thank you that perfectly answers my question
I got the Focusrite FAST bundle and it's the same but the EQ isn't dynamic. I think it was Sonible tech.
Yes, it was!
If Till from Rammstein, Stan Laurel and the Hulk had a Baby thats super into Audio..... ;-)

I have to ask were you sold on the McDSP APB analog processor? Sounds great to me.
Yeah it's a great unit. I'd have it if I was on Mac or if the PC version was out
Ya it looked like you were pretty blown away by it.@@mixbustv
Great review thank you! I’m betting this is more cpu friendly than SmartEQ
It is!
David Im curious. What Is your go to match eq, Ozone or pro q 3?
I didn't use match eas
Very cool plugin.
A handy Eq if you’re especially in rush to get some demos out on a deadline.
Could you put this on a master to cleanup and give clarity and balance?
I would not do that
Smart versus pure please David would love to see the differences and are they both useful in there own ways. love the presentation thanks or is smart already obsolete AI
It's the same engine, pure is just cheaper, easier/faster to use, less CPU but of course limited a bit compared to smart
is this still really useful/beneficial if I also own smart:eq , smart:limit, smart: comp?
If you have smart eq this is a stripped down version of it. Would be useful to save CPU power if you use it a lot
@@mixbustv thanks for the reply!

Does it cut low frequencies completely? The ones I don't need like synth Because you don't see in the video that it cuts
Why would it cut lows? Of course it doesn't
So just put eq before, with a low cut
Yes?
😁 great intro and video overall
Really nice, though after getting Claro I don't think there's any other EQ I'd need unless someone creates one that does all the work for me 😂
Do you use split EQ? I find it the best for cleaning the low mids of a vocal while retaining the energy. Haven’t tried this thing though.
Split EQ is one of the best and most revolutionary plug-in of the decade. Like fr

Yes
You can use the soothe 2 there is so much eq you do the same
Soothe is not an eq
Just bought it, € 19,- is a steel. Less instances of Soothe2 i suppose...;) And Gullfoss.
how many instances of gullfoss can you roughly use on one project?
How is it on cpu?
Ozone 11 video soon ? thoughts ?
