I know it been a year since you made this, but I just found out today that if you remove the sway bar links on both sides you have enough room to remove the axle shafts without reomoving the struts. But great video ! Thanks.
Great video! I did my yesterday. I just removed lower struts bolts and sway bar link pin. A little manipulation & boom badda bing got it done. Thanks for your help.
Awesome! Good video, Summary at the end about the simplicity of the job helps others feel confident enough to tackle it! You are correct, the strut removal probably scares enough away from doing this.🤙
I hate paying the "stealership" for work I can do myself, so I really appreciate your content. New sub to your channel, also. My next big project looks like it's going to be a front brake job on my '15 Silverado.
Can you just remove the sway bar end link and get enough clearance that way? If you remove the side bolted to the diff and lower it-I think you can get it out without messing up any alignment
I've got to do this on my truck this weekend. I wonder if it would be enough wiggle room just cranking the wheel over all the way instead of messing with the strut. Only one way to find out I guess. Thanks for the video. This doesn't look nearly as complicated as I imagined.
@@Wombuffet you definitely do. It "should" have enough wiggle room to drop the strut out, but on my truck, it had a small leveling spacer on top, so it was under tension. I had to pop out the outer tie rod end, and the upper ball joint to get it out.
I see there is a little oil leak around were you bolted the cv axel, i have the same oil leak on my 08 sierra, did this stop the leak ? loved the way you explained in this video, doesn't seem to difficult, will be doing this myself after watching this, thanks 😉
Very informative, how much did you save doing the job yourself would you say? I'm looking at doing the job myself to save some money I have a few tools to buy to get it completed but it looks fairly simple.
Aren’t you suppose to replace both sides of that cv joint axel install. ??? Keep the balance or if one’s out then the other is bound to fail as well soon??? Idk I’m asking
As the owner of a 2013 Sierra and a 2003 sierra I appreciate your videos 🤘

Good tip 👍
U don’t have move all that just take the cv axle out
Thanks dude for showing me how to do this . Made life so much simpler .

Nice work!
Pretty simple fix. I’m just glad the axles weren’t stuck in the hubs! Ain’t nobody got time for that.
True dat.
I like that you use basic tools good work
Best video I've seen on this topic, liked & subscribed. You sir are a national treasure.
Much more simpler with your instructions 😛 Thanks so much 😉😁
Brother you make it look so easy
Thanks
I’m going to try

Good job homeslice getting the shot just did mine on Ford Edge I did seals to and that interesting more ppl should fix there cars
Man..... It is so nice when they slide right outta there! I remember the fused CV Axle 😅... Great video!
A “no fuss” repair! Always a welcomed sight!
Glad I watched this video. Thought I had to drop the lower ball joint to get it out. Thanks man 👍👍
Dang that is a cheap cv axle. I just paid $140+ each for mine at Advance Auto Parts.
Great tutorial video. Thank you
Auto parts stores charge double than ordering it yourself

Great video! I wish you would do a cv axle video for a 2nd gen Toyota Tacoma! Most of the videos for it on here are trash!

That’s exactly what I was thinking
You'd benefit practice this with lug nut in place to protect your threads while using the pry bar as a counter lever.
Excellent tip. Thank you!

In the same boat as you, let me know if you didnt need to remove the strut!

Yes just use a swivel it in your socket and you can wiggle it and get it out
Put anti-seize on that axle spline? No more stuck hubs if ya do. 🤘😎
wonder how difficult it is with the lift kit on the struts? guess i will fing out this coming tuesday

Good job man very informative and very good with the cinematography..
should i put a bit of anti seize on the splines when i put the new axle in the wheel hub?
Yes
thank you for making this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video! Thanks!
Used all hand tools that's nice! 💪
Great how to. Good job

Do I have to take the strut out or is it basically just convenient to have it off to remove the cv axle ?
It's best to remove the strut, otherwise it's nearly impossible to remove the axel.
Aren’t you suppose to replace both sides of that cv joint axel install. ??? Keep the balance or if one’s out then the other is bound to fail as well soon??? Idk I’m asking
Great video!!
Thanks for the video!!
Very helpful thanks
I’ve seen people put locktite blue on those three bolts that hold the strut down. Is that good to do?????????
are the axles the same on both sides? same part number?
Yo Daninator can i get an update how the part held up?
So far so good 👍
You should have showed how to loosen the bottom of that strut
Have to do this in the next few days. Thanks for explaining everything clearly and doing it where there is plenty of light in the video! 🤘🤘🤘
Nice job, yer awesome!
Put new axel on
And not it only rotates half way around. Is that normal ?
Love your channel im a subscriber now WHERE CAN I GET A XXL CHECK YOUR WALLET SHIRT?
Thanks man. There’s a link in the description of this video. 👍
How about an impact?
Cannot get that axle nut out for the life of me. Tried the impact and full body weight jumping on a breaker bar
You can get it out without removing the struck
Anybody got a idea in what cause my 2016 sierra to shake at highway speeds and sway side to side at very low driveway speed?
U don't need to remove the strut to remove the cv axle, just the top ball joint
Why did you replace them ?
No parking brake
Get yourself an impact....
You don't need to remove the strut bud🤣
9😊o😊😊9o
Wouldn't it be easier to just remove brakes , caliper and rotor then the axle Is just limp there
Liar
