I love his body movements..Maynard lives in the zone. And if you look closely, Carey is actually crocheting, texting, and microwaving Totino's pizza rolls in between fills...beast
Goran Maksimović everyone does but at the same time we don’t want him ending his career at 55 because he tried to do something he did 20-25 years ago 😂
I used to watch this video stoned out of my mind. I only knew this song, eulogy, and I think maybe stinkfist. That was 4 years ago. It took me a very long time to understand and appreciate Tool. With them you really can't go wrong all their song are incredible. Music that is so carefully crafted. Their music will live on forever.
I've been listening to them since I was quite young and in my rebellious phase and never really got the message of the songs, mostly just gravitated towards the anger and spiteful energy of the music itself. Listening to them again in my adult years, I'm seeing the songs in an entirely new perspective. It's quite interesting how age does that to one's self.
He was a lot younger in this video. As you get older your voice will wear from all the screaming and singing he's done in his younger days. He's still a God.
I love this song. One of the most angry Tool songs. I would like some comments about my own personal video of this song. Please watch it and let me know if it's any good. Cheers
when i saw them live in nj 2007, maynard just stayed in the back and just sang like...holy shit...what a voice he has and yeah he doesnt move around that much but,,..so what he is amazing
I probably would have had a heart attack at this show caused by direct exposure to awesome. Haven't put Aenima on in a while, but this is making me remember why I lived inside that album for months on end. That guitar tone, of course that drumming, and the permeating humor of the whole thing (hooker, Message to Harry, refrences to Bill Hicks etc.) Solid front to back even if you don't really dig lots of prog/metal.
If you want songs directly from the album then listen to the cd. The 2 hours Tool performs is definatley something special! I can't wait to see the 10 or 11 songs they play next time they come to town!
This song is so much fun to play on drums, but nobody makes it look as easy as Danny does. Very balls-out song...I miss this rare style. Though, "The Pot" is somewhat reminiscent IMO.
This song states that we are all part of the system. We created this mess together and we're all fucking feeding it. All buying up and consuming one another's bullshit. The moral of the story is; don't player hate, participate. :-D
we had this bootleg on VHS, they said it was the first show of the Aenima tour. I believe he says somewhere that since it's the first, the audience gets the shittiest show of the tour.
thanks for uploading this man!!! do you have more? by the way... 3:37, Carey lose the left stick! but you dont even noticed by the sound!!! he is the man!!! Cheers! and just waiting for TOOL in Mexico!!!
@tristessa56079 Unless he's singing Vicarious...every live performance he skips the first measure of the last vocal chorus. I love Tool but was highly disappointed to miss out on that measure in person.
I never realised how short Maynard was... is that why in recent tours he stays right back, uses perspective as an illusion? I don't care Maynard! I'm 6'4" and Napoleon is my favourite military and spiritual leader!
Nah he doesn't stay in the back because he's short lol. He's talked about not being front and center at his shows during interviews. I think it was about taking himself out of the equation a bit so people could experience the music, and the band. Being a 'frontman' means he's Tool, and for him it's about the music and the show.
It's about a fanboy who approached maynard and told him that their selling out. The kid influenced Maynard so much he wrote a song about it. Maynard has nothing against De La Rocha, and him and Zach are good friends. Also, Adam Jones and Tom Morello have been friends since childhood.
I love how uch tool fans know about the band, my drummer knows everything there is to know about them, from amps to drumming techniques... he knows all the guitar tabs to the entire cd of aenema... he's really annoying after awhile
When I saw them in Sacramento MJK got hit in the mouth with a shoe, left stage, band finished the song instrumental, came back and kicked more ass. At the end of the show MJK said "thank you California for the new shoes." Just another reason for him to hate Cali. Anyone there remember that?
I love his body movements..Maynard lives in the zone. And if you look closely, Carey is actually crocheting, texting, and microwaving Totino's pizza rolls in between fills...beast
+John Caputo He even drops a stick in one fill - never missed time. #legend
Lol, the greatest of all time... certainly, once he hit the studio to record Lateralus... He became Godly
I miss Maynards Gollum days.
I do too, even though the song is just about Maynard being pissed at those kind of staff
Goran Maksimović everyone does but at the same time we don’t want him ending his career at 55 because he tried to do something he did 20-25 years ago 😂
This isn't even Maynard's final form.
1998
I love that he's separated himself from the band... Completely disconnected from the stereotypical "frontman"and let Tool become the show, not himself
Buzz can feel
Its quite creepy how Maynard remains emotionless during his screams. Almost as if he is possessed or something
S70 T5 he is
He's selling his brand. Buy his new record. Marketing fluff.
He looks like an alien the way he moves
Possessed by the music
All of the above
fucking amazing live . His vocal characteristics are identical to the record. No studio bullshit here
3:38 when the drum baguette falls from carey like it's nothing
i just wanna know why you called drumstick a "drum baguette" like wtf xdddd
I liked because that way of describing drumsticks made me laugh out loud.
Adam Mickiewicz because Danny Carey uses extremely thick drum sticks.

Dawson Nichols few people see that

One of the best bands ever. Sometimes their concerts are almost spiritual in the way the music moves through you.
1:51 bass
Funny how the crowd thought the song was done about midway through , but phenomenal performance by tool . They never disappoint .
I hope those were just a few people
It was most of the crowd but this was the first time they played the song.
Oh okay i see then
If you're not sure that Tool is the greatest fucking rock band ever after watching this there is something wrong with you.
Maynard is screaming and just staring in the out into the distance like "Man, I need some pizza rolls.."
He was a lot younger in this video. As you get older your voice will wear from all the screaming and singing he's done in his younger days. He's still a God.
the way he's moving reminds me of the people in the schism video
Hands down the true definition of and my favorite diss track, and it's to a "fan". Lol
Maynards vocals are on point here...he's got the eye of the tiger on that register.
They sounds just as good live as they do on the album
A MESSAGE TO SPACE: You must greatly miss Maynard on your planet, but I am so glad you left him here for us.
I swear, every single time I've seen Tool, they are so fucking good live. Next to Jerk Off, this is my favorite Tool song.
Best hard rock band ever. And still so underrated.
3:37 Danny dropped his stick, he just kept playing like nothing happened what a legend.
I love this song.
One of the most angry Tool songs.
I would like some comments about my own personal video of this song. Please watch it and let me know if it's any good.
Cheers
Who's the fucking man you ask?
Simple question..
It's Danny "effin" Carey!.. Beast.
Both Danny and Brann Dailor. The latter is also insane.
when i saw them live in nj 2007,
maynard just stayed in the back and just sang like...holy shit...what a voice he has
and yeah he doesnt move around that much but,,..so what he is amazing
He dropped it during other sets during this show and you wouldn't even notice unless you're looking out for it. What an amazing drummer!
so glorious how the lights make like a ghost of every one of them , its just the energy going trough at maximum level
And he doesn't stop playing. Awesome, to say the least.
What a voice!! Tool is simply the best band alive...
this is some good tool. more recent performances aren't as powerful as the older stuff.
the dude's an animal. not human the way he plays those drums.
I love the epic stick-drop recovery at 3:35 :D
3:37 Danny dropping his drum stick. Even titans fuck up. Still kept the beat like a fuckin champ though
I probably would have had a heart attack at this show caused by direct exposure to awesome. May just be my favorite song from them.
friend of mine picked up some love for sale down on sana monica bulevard.... turns out she had crowded pants.
Funniest song ever. "Shut up and.... BUUUUY! BUUUUUY! BUUUUUUUUY!! SEEEEEEND MORE MONEY!!!" Always cracks me up.
flipper i agree, by far the best live band of all time!
i luv the intensity in his eyes.i always play this song at partys when somebody disses tool.
This is my favorite Tool song 🖤🖤
If you want songs directly from the album then listen to the cd. The 2 hours Tool performs is definatley something special! I can't wait to see the 10 or 11 songs they play next time they come to town!

Best tool song ever, Its a shame they dont play it at concerts anymore.
Agreed. Their best-ever song.
They do now 😎 its in their new set
They do it now and fucking rocked the arena. Seriously everyone went crazy rocking out to this. Now I’m a fan of this song
@@SteakfulDead bro i just saw them in Tampa tonight and they fucking rocked
Ty Nation I’m so jealous, what was the set list tonight?
He thought that the song ended and says "Thank You"...but then BAM!!! They continue.
You can see his WTF Face before he says that xDDD
one of my favorite tool songs! right on!
haha love the extended pause at 2:40. Maynard just looks around like, "what the fuck are you guys waiting for?"
I love this song so much.
The stick is scared by Danny because he is a beast thats why its trying to escape.
Damn!! Drops a stick, goes to pick up the one he dropped, and missed nothing!!! Tre cool!
3:37 appears danny drops his stick or something but doesnt miss a beat!! he is so incredible!
He said "Next song?"
this was way before the days of my metal kit. thats still the sonor signature kit he used to use.
nope thats justin playing bass. He just doesn't have his wavy locks yet.
I was laughing at that all day.
yeah thats actually why I was posting this. I wanted to show some buddies.
LOL at Danny dropping a stick and not even skipping a beat. =P
One of the few vids out there that capture the intesity that Maynard is!
what a awsome song im adictid to tool
Maynard = Best live vocal singer and performer alive D:
Tool was the Best LIVE show I've ever seen. Primus, Dead Kenny G's, and Gogol Bordello came damn close though.
Maynard is such a great frontman. tOOL are underappreciated because they aren't mainstream.
Maynard does a wicked-good John McCain impression.
a work of art cannot be rushed
heheh at 3:40 danny drops his stick i hate when that happens
great video, best version i've seen
You can see there fucking spirits come out of there body's to the song ,-.
This song states that we are all part of the system. We created this mess together and we're all fucking feeding it. All buying up and consuming one another's bullshit. The moral of the story is; don't player hate, participate. :-D
Wednesday January 25th at the Air Canada Centre. Cannot fucking wait! First time I'll be seeing them live.
My favorite TOOL song!
This is such a great song!!!!!!!!
we had this bootleg on VHS, they said it was the first show of the Aenima tour. I believe he says somewhere that since it's the first, the audience gets the shittiest show of the tour.
Here On Mars yup same show lol
maynard looks like a spectral being under the light. staring blankly but expressing his lyrics to the fullest and feeling every line
danny carey is one of the best drummers inmy opinion
Hell yeah that was a classic piece of footage there!!!!!
At 3:30 Carrey drops his stick, but the fucking man he is gets it back and doesnt miss a beat!
man
I HAVE to see these guys live before I die.
If I dont, im comming back to life and going to every show.
fuck TIMING IS WACK !
the song is damn awesome.
Man Danny Carey makes it look soooo effortless.....
Lol. Danny drops his stick @3:39 but just keeps on playing. That's why he's the best
Danny drops his drumstick...proof he's human after all.
i wish they would play this song more live it is suck a kickass song
3:40 he drops his stick i think.... its hard to tell because he doesnt miss a beat. they are so good
thanks for uploading this man!!! do you have more?
by the way... 3:37, Carey lose the left stick! but you dont even noticed by the sound!!! he is the man!!!
Cheers! and just waiting for TOOL in Mexico!!!
i was literally born a few days before this video was uploaded
holy fuck i love this song....
@tristessa56079 Unless he's singing Vicarious...every live performance he skips the first measure of the last vocal chorus.
I love Tool but was highly disappointed to miss out on that measure in person.
Those fucking drum parts are top shelf!
original gangsta: tool
I never realised how short Maynard was... is that why in recent tours he stays right back, uses perspective as an illusion?
I don't care Maynard! I'm 6'4" and Napoleon is my favourite military and spiritual leader!
Nah he doesn't stay in the back because he's short lol. He's talked about not being front and center at his shows during interviews. I think it was about taking himself out of the equation a bit so people could experience the music, and the band. Being a 'frontman' means he's Tool, and for him it's about the music and the show.
You know Napoleon wasn't actually short at all, it was propaganda spread by the British. He actually around average height for the times.
love it.Maynard gave himself bunny ears lol
The shoe incident occurred during Pushit, and yes, MJK just quit. Some effers are so rude, to toss a shoe.
It's about a fanboy who approached maynard and told him that their selling out. The kid influenced Maynard so much he wrote a song about it.
Maynard has nothing against De La Rocha, and him and Zach are good friends. Also, Adam Jones and Tom Morello have been friends since childhood.
F’n A Jones’ tone is amazing
il più grande pezzo dei TOOL!!!!!
I love how uch tool fans know about the band, my drummer knows everything there is to know about them, from amps to drumming techniques... he knows all the guitar tabs to the entire cd of aenema... he's really annoying after awhile
@300daysandnights In Cleveland they sold out within 15 minutes. You can probably check ebay or craigslist.
When I saw them in Sacramento MJK got hit in the mouth with a shoe, left stage, band finished the song instrumental, came back and kicked more ass. At the end of the show MJK said "thank you California for the new shoes." Just another reason for him to hate Cali. Anyone there remember that?
Holy shit, thanks for posting
lolol theres a part where Danny Carey drops his left stick and picks it right back up lol
awesome :)
3:38 Danny drops his drumstick. xD Thanks awesomelyskilledge for pointing that out, I wouldnt have caught it otherwise.
Maynard's Allergic to shirts..
