I have actually used this on the golf course at times when I'm struggling with keeping my weight forward, particularly when I'm getting tired later in the round. It works.
15 hc golfer play once or twice a week. Tried this today on my outside mat hitting into my net. Amazing contact and compression, could feel myself getting fwd to reach the ball. Straighter ball flight on my simulator garmin r10. Taking to course tomorrow, wish me luck... Thanks for video Rob
great video great coach at 77 yrs young I find this system is body-friendly. I love the grid. I now put pressure on the guys in their 50/60. thanks, Rob.
Rob, I've labored too long to find contact ball first. I've always been athletic but for whatever reason have not been able to move my weight forward at the correct time to imprint the move so that it is CONSISTENT. Love your teaching method and hopefully this lesson will get me on track. Be well-Russ
New golfer here, just played my first 6 holes couple of weeks back. The range definitely lies without putting a towel down or something to spot your fats. My contact was all over the place, decided to follow stack and tilt, practicing swings indoors putting a towel down etc. Done another 6 holes last week and actually made a par, contact point getting better but still a few fats. Played another 6 holes yesterday (got another par) and only had 1 fat. My miss is more thin now but prefer that than fat. Controlling the low point better and better but trying to get the best balance of how much weight i should have on my lead leg (80% seems to be the best atm). Need another range session and might need to give this drill a try as well. Its crazy how 1 or 2 simple swing rules can actually get you playing enjoyable golf. It did help i also bought single length clubs from driver-LW though so the range practice with any iron translates to all
Some of the best drills for anyone follow directions I practice head on the wall drill arn straight. tilt. But this drill brings it all together, ball off your toe, It Also lets me know that I could get more rotation. and the ball was firing with power and authority today. I will let you know about future improvements thanks for the videos.
I agree and as a senior golfer I often have trouble with this myself ! However I never have any issues hitting my hybrids ? Maybe if I replaced my clubs with a complete set of hybrids ! Maybe that would work ! BTW use Stack and Tilt and have you to thank for my recent improvement !
Thanks for the message, Ferguson! The likely reason you’re better with your hybrids is that hybrids have a wider sole which effectively reduces a club’s tendency to “dig”, like an iron would. So changing to all hybrids isn’t such a crazy idea after all! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@robcheneygolf1 Great lesson and thought as always. Rob what can I do for close to heel contact with all my clubs. I am missing the center by maybe an inch or so. I tried backing up a bit but seems I'm throwing my hands at it and same result. Thank you for your input.
Did you watch today’s new video about strike location on the club face? There’s a drill in here to move strike from heel to centre. ruclips.net/video/MSVpao0Urcw/видео.htmlsi=b1CSkWxH0gIr-SoZ
I can hit my irons with my weight forward and have very good results but I still an issues with the driver. I know weight forward means hips forward, but it is a work in progress.
Good question. I would recommend trying both approaches and seeing which one produces the better contact for you. I certainly know of many students who transformed their ball striking just by changing where they look down at the ball/ground.
Rob, Do you have a recommended list of drills for folks to master in sequence in order to get more SnT? Eg master this (consistent strike zone) then this (?) then this (?) then this (?). Perhaps the five phrases in sequence and their associated drills? I want a program that assembles/stacks skills rather than jumping from one drill to another without really mastering anything.
It's a good question, but it's such a tough one to nail down a strict order as each player's starting point is different and they'll each need a different feel/drill. In terms of the TEN WORDS, it's fair to say the order they are listed is (to some degree) the order to learn them. So WEIGHT FORWARD is first. SHOULDER DOWN second, HANDS IN, ARMS STRAIGHT and TUCK HIPS.
Hey there, I have a remark and a question: I remember a time two years ago with bad strikes (I am not creating divots at all in general) but on the range with this drill I had better strikes than normal ball position. Unfortunately when putting the ball back to normal, bad strikes again. I am having huge shanking issues - can this drill also be something against shanking?
Can you please clarify the shoulder line better? Is it the line from the ball of your shoulder or the line that runs up through your arm pit up to your shoulder? (There’s about a two inch difference between the two points)
There is no “correct” ball position. You can play the ball in multiple positions and still be a functional golfer. The idea of this drill is to position the ball far forwards of the standard ball position to force you to move your weight more to the front leg to promote more solid contact. It’s for golfers who don’t move their weight forward enough in the downswing (which is about 90-95% of all golfers). Hope that helps clarify the drill and why you might want to try it?
@robcheneygolf1 Great tip thanks Rob. I took it to the range today. I think I broke the machine. My finish position was text book, over the leading leg well in front of my starting position. I was hitting the middle of the club. I wasn't hitting ground behind the ball. My seven iron was going 150m as was my three iron and my five iron and my 3 wood. I think I broke the machine.
I’ve got too much left hip rotation and not enough hip slide down the line. Even doing this drill, I hit the ball by flipping my hands even more. It seems my unconscious can defeat efforts!

That's a really good idea, Neil! 👍🏻

That’s awesome, Darren! Good luck! 🤞🏻
Haven’t played a lot cause of my back but can’t wait to try it !!! Great explanation as always Rob, number one man on RUclips
Thank you, George! 👍🏻
All your videos are consistently the best on RUclips. Your explanations and drills are excellent. All I have to do now is practice and execute
Hi, Rob. I keep my weight 100% on lead side with a little bit close stance, this gaves consistance contact of ball.
That’s a great way to do it! 👍🏻

Thank you! 🙏
I worked with this drill with my golf pro this morning. So crazy to see this video pop up.
That’s really cool! 👍🏻

Thanks, Russ. I think you’ll enjoy the next video that comes out later this week! 👍🏻
@@robcheneygolf1 I'll be watching for it.
I’m really enjoying you content . You have a real talent explaining the methods you have studied . I wish you all the success 👏
Thank you, Paul! I really appreciate that! 🙏🏻

Tried it, it worked wonderfully. Thank You!
You're welcome!

I just discovered your channel and can say your videos and explanations are excellent
Very kind! Thank you, Andrew and welcome to the channel. 🙏🏻
Good drill...gonna use it before my next round...seemed to help at the practice net...should also help on the course!
Hope it helps on the course as well! 🙏🏻

Keep going, Rick! Send me a video of your swing if you want more help.
Rob, is your video of how to build the grid still on RUclips? I can't find it.
I think it got taken down. Will try and make a new one.
When you move the ball to its regular position do you focus on the ball or a spot in front of the ball?
Good question. I would recommend trying both approaches and seeing which one produces the better contact for you. I certainly know of many students who transformed their ball striking just by changing where they look down at the ball/ground.

Using the golf covers helps focus on the technique.
Glad it was helpful, Jeffrey! 👍🏻
How does one release the club in 'Stack-n-Tilt'.
Thanks much in advance. Ciao...Dave H.

Please expect another comment in a few days. I'm not due to practice for a while. PS guess what I'm practising...
Hope this helped you!

Just don’t slide.
Sliding is ok 👌🏻
