  • Golf is hard. And it's infinitely harder when you don't have a system to help you navigate your way through the complexities of the many different ways you 'COULD' possibly swing the club.
    For decades, the fundamentals of golf have been poorly defined. While there is no doubt that the GRIP, AIM, STANCE and POSTURE are all important, they are not fundamental. They are variable. They are STATIC positions that could be recreated by anyone - and it would be impossible to accurately deduce a golfer's skill level simply from looking at how they demonstrate these "fundamentals".
    The true fundamentals of golf are "dynamic" and the ability to demonstrate these fundamentals will provide an accurate assessment as to the skill level of the golfer trying to perform them.
    Stack&Tilt is a system for playing (and teaching) golf and defines the fundamentals as:
    1. Contact (controlling the low-point of the swing)
    2. Distance (having enough power to play the course)
    3. Curve (having a predictable shot pattern and dispersion)
    Understanding these fundamental tasks (and assessing your ability to perform them) will help you to more accurately diagnose your current problems, identify what you need to work on, and help you prioritise and organise your practice sessions to the point where you are truly improving.
    Stack&Tilt provides a roadmap for you to improve your golf. It provides a golfer with an education to help them organise the complexities of the golf swing into smaller, more manageable tasks. This education improves a golfer's understanding of the task and how to perform it so that when things inevitably go wrong, they have a way of getting back on track quickly - and not simply looking for the next swing tip video on RUclips or Instagram!
    If you want to truly improve your golf and make genuine, long-term improvements, find a coach who uses a system and who can help you to realise your true golfing potential!

    It’s challenging to try and change so many things in my swing. I can play well at times and then poorly at other times with my present swing. I really want to change to Stack and Tilt. Won’t be easy but well worth it. I’ve got the takeaway down ok but shoulder down, hands in, arms straight and hips tucked are hard to get at the same time. But I’ll give it my best effort. Love your teaching. 👍👍considering a lesson.

    I only watch this and saguto golf now ! Cheers Rob great explanation. Playing golf about 3 yrs now , I’ve tried the old school whipping of the hands through the ball. I’ve tried the rotational swing but just way too many moving parts ! S&T is by far the most predictable and best for my game !!

    Ooh! It's the "eat your vegetables" episode. Can't you just sell me a golf pill? Actually Rob's drills provide enough instant results in each area they address that the rewards of pursuing practice are obvious and waiting. How much you care about getting better is how much better you'll get. Everybody makes that choice for themselves.

    I played for about a year and a half when I lived in a golf heaven northern state but then I started a family and diapers were more important than golf.
    Now my daughters are grown and self dependent.
    Getting back into the game so that when I retire I have something to do in addition to my other hobbies.
    I went to the driving range with a friend for the first time in 20 years. My primary goal was to get comfortable and just make contact with the ball, work on fundamentals.
    I wasn’t concerned about distance

    This might be the most sensible golf video on RUclips, including a bit of therapy for all of us chasing more distance and trendy golf theories. In the end, golf is a game of strategy and execution. There is no ball speed category on the scorecard.

    My problem is in the last two rounds I am hitting a low pull draw, I had 6 penalties today and shot 86 with 5 doubles because I hit a low left pull hook with the driver

    • @robcheneygolf1
      @robcheneygolf1  4 месяца назад +1

      So the low/left has to be associated with an excessively closed club face. Without seeing your swing, it’s hard to say EXACTLY what you need to do, but you should at least begin by opening the club face some amount to begin reducing the likelihood of the low/left. Hope that helps you begin to figure this out? 🙏🏻

      @@robcheneygolf1 I figured it was closed club face, I don't think I'm coming over it, I think it is too much bow in my lead wrist which makes the face shut.

    Hi Rob. Really good stuff as always. I am particularly impacted by your direction around not focusing on maximizing distance but finding the balance between distance and good contact/direction.
    Generally speaking, I have quite consistent direction. I am able to get enough distance to get on greens in regulation though there's significant variance in my distance - primarily because of very inconsistent contact. (I mostly hit the ball without hitting the ground.)
    Based on the 3 fundamentals that you outline, is the idea to really slow down or abbreviate the swing until contact becomes extremely consistent and then gradually increase speed?
    Thanks again.

    • @robcheneygolf1
      @robcheneygolf1  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks, David. I wouldn’t necessarily take that approach (although you could do). I would identity WHY your contact is so variable, and work on that piece. Depending on the “why”, you may be able to still make swings close to full speed. Also, reducing speed (slightly) in exchange for more consistent, centered contact can ultimately yield better distance dispersion (meaning the extremes of your distance shot pattern will be tighter, and that also increases your chances of shooting lower scores.
