This is the move that helped propel me from hitting in the 90s to now consistently in the low 80s. I’m anticipating going into the 70s soon. This move is an absolute game changer, along with the short game teachings of Dan Grieve.
Rob I am new to your videos but I absolutely love your method and instruction..and the stack/tilt system has really made the entire swing come together for me and made sense of hours of lessons with my club pro and endless youtube video watching whereby I had no sense of multiple systems being referenced and what is best for me. I've adopted all of your methods from Stack and Tilt and feel much more confident and consistent in my thoughts (and it helps that I'm no longer thinking about so many small mechanics from a weight transfer conventional swing). All that said, this video here is maybe the biggest help to me, because I had been struggling with inconsistent ground striking ahead of the ball even with stack/tilt and couldn't figure out why....and using your drills here, it's helped me realize that I was breaking that wrist angle/wedge and turning my head toward the target upon impact losing my tilt. My question is whether this drill is equally applicable to the driver swing, where I know you want to see the body 'wrench turn' around your weight forward front leg, and curious if you are suggesting that you hold the wedge angle through impact similar to irons...or whether with a Driver that is not advisable given the nature of the club head. Please advise. And thank you I am aiming to work through 100% of your videos and drills.
I’ve been to stacks of coaches. I couldn’t get off the back foot. Went to a new coach and was shown this. FIVE MINUTES later I was off the back foot, getting shaft lean and hitting my 7 iron 167 yards from my normal 150. This works!!!!!!
Excellent video thanks Rob. Question: Would the 'wring the wet towel' wrist drill advocated by Pete Fowan and others assist not only in the great ion of the 'flying wedge' but also in iys maintenance thru the transition and impact phases of the swing? Your comment would be appreciated. Thank you, Bill
Another great video, I’ll do these exercises whilst waiting for the mark on my forehead to heal from the door jamb drill😂. On a related note at 1:03 in this video is a slo-mo of Bryson (I think) at impact and he has almost completely released his right hand from the grip - you can clearly see the white of his trousers (pants?) in the gap between his thumb and index finger - is this normal in professional golfers?
I’m struggling to understand where the club head speed comes from if you hold the wrist angle like that Is there no ‘throwing’ the club head at the ball?
Great question! There is/should still be a "throwing" of the club head, this exercise simply delays that "throwing" as 99% of golfers "throw" far too early.
I was looking at the 2023 Trackman PGA averages and noticed for driver the men average -0.9 (down) angle of approach while the ladies average 2.8 (up). Is this because most men on the PGAT play a fade or cut with driver while the women on the LPGA play a draw with driver?
Would you say a loss of creating a flying wedge in your back swing would lead to a cupped lead wrist at the top of your backswing, therefore creating more of a slice tendency at impact?
"can use with all clubs in the bag". Needs more explanation for the driver when hitting up with a forward ball position. I see nothing to say how maintaining these backward wrist angles will help with the driver.
That’s a fair question. But you can definitely have forward shaft lean and hit up on the driver. In fact, most amateur golfers get the entire concept of “hitting up” with the driver completely wrong which leads to erratic and uncontrollable driving.
@@robcheneygolf1 "erratic and uncontrollable driving." - exactly what I have and looked to this to clarify what "completely wrong" would be - or/and how to fix it
Hello Rob, everything is good on the mat at small speed , 100% with no ball, 70% with a ball but everything collapses on the course in real conditions..... keep trying. Thank you

That’s awesome, Nigel! 💪🏻
Thanks, Rob! You're my go-to coach and you never fail to help me improve!
Thank you, Mark! 👍🏻
This is so good
Thank you!
Really been enjoying how you explain things. A lot of coaching videos become convoluted due to them selling something.
Thank you. I appreciate you saying this! 👍🏻
More good stuff Rob.I have this product and appreciate this training session. Stay well-Russ
Thank you, Russ! 🙏🏻
Thank you for explaining this so clearly (in the year 2024)
You bet! 👍🏻
Rob, great video. I plan to start today.
Thank you and good luck!
Great video as always. Learning so much & playing so much better since trying S&T
Love to hear this! 😍
Great video.

My pleasure!

I've certainly seen it in other Professional players, yes.
Rob, can you he help me find a stack and tilt coach in the St. Louis , mo. area? Thanks. Love your videos.
Mikah Wilson, Brad Glore, Brad Dean and Christian Becker are all in that area, I believe.
Rob where can I c u in person I’m often in London
Hi. You can find me at Caddi Club in Fulham, or Leatherhead Golf Club in Surrey. www.robcheneygolf.com
Can we do this with drivers too?
Yes, absolutely! 👍🏻
Thanks Rob, same with the driver?#valledeeste
Yes, sir!

You are the goat 🐐 Rob , would loved for you to be in Aus so I can have lessons ,,,, you are so explanatory in your videos. Big up to you mate
Thanks, George! 🙏🏻
Good video!! Steve Johnston has done some good videos on this too.
Rob, I purchased the precision trainer and want to know if i should use it on my driver or only ground based shots
Works for the driver as well.
Would you say a loss of creating a flying wedge in your back swing would lead to a cupped lead wrist at the top of your backswing, therefore creating more of a slice tendency at impact?
Yes, I would agree with that.
Do you think the swing is mostly a pulling left arm or a pushing right arm in a right handed player?
I honestly think that "feel" is very subjective from player to player. For me, it's more of a "pull' with the left side.
Yes, yes I have (both definitions actually)
Thanks, Les! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Rob, Are you implying that both address and impact positions are ideally the same ? Best wishes.
No, not at all. In fact, I'm explaining how they are different and how to see/feel these differences.
No, I haven't...tell me more!
