Glad you enjoyed the video - thanks for writing in and hope you have a great year on the water (or in the water) filled with outstanding steelhead fishing!
Great to hear from you in Ohio and so glad you are enjoying our videos. Thanks for writing in and as for the T-Turns, they really do work great and are a true pleasure to use :) Until next time, good luck and good fishing!
Hi Juhani - very nice to have you as a subscriber :) Glad you are enjoying our videos and thank you for such nice feedback - it is very much appreciated! Good luck on the water!
Hi Mitch, spring & fall are best for trout & the morning bite is best. I like to use 10 or 20 lb braided line, with an 8 lb or 10 lb fluorocarbon leader line of at least 10' long. Small T-Turns are great for use with 10 lb test line or less - medium for 10 to 20 lb test line and large T-Turns for heavier line. (T-Turns work fantastic!) The best size Viper Spoons for bass, walelye or trout would be the SP1 or the SP2 - they would be ideal & will work great for you rigged with a night crawler :)
Hi Gabriel - nice to hear from you and we always use a fluorocarbon leader off our braided line. As you saw in this video, we actually tie on about 8 - 10 ft of fluorocarbon leader line. the we tie a T-Turn on the that and then a fluorocarbon leader to the roe bag as well as to the sinker. When it comes to trout fishing, you want to keep a very low profile in the water as trout are "spooked" very easily. Good luck :)
Great to hear from you in KY :) Rainbows will readily hit roe bags, worms and minnows. The will also hit spoons and spinners as well (such as a Panther Martin). You can use a set up such as in this video as a bait rig, or you could even use a bobber/float if you are fishing an area with current. Also, if you are fishing a lake or stocked pond, corn will also work - you can use the corn right form your local grocery store and use it right out of the can :)
Hi marc and thanks for being a fan - much appreciated :) If and as weather permits, we will be trying to get out there as we love fishing for trout as well :)
Thanks for the kind words and when it comes to fishing, my father loved to fish and always took me with him and as such, I've been fishing all my life and love it :)
Hi Sina - glad you are enjoying our videos :) I was using 20 lb Power Pro braided line and a 15 lb Seaguar fluorocarbon leader. Hook is size is 2. As a side note, in the near future (not sure exactly which month), Thundermist Lure Company will be coming out with it's very own premium quality braided line and fluorocarbon line...you are now the first person to know this :)
Hi Blair, in this case when fishing for trout, you can use a small roe bag about the size of a dime - or - the other good bait to use are leaf worms....the are thin worms (not night crawlers) In your case, these leaf worms will work great and if you can find some in a compost pile somewhere, those will even be better :)
Hi Steve great to hear from you and glad you enjoyed the video - you probably noticed that I was also very surprised to also get that bite so fast...I wasn't expecting it, but it sure was a nice surprise and made my day :)
Hi Matrimoney and thanks for the feedback - decided to take a look at wikipedia and here is what it said "Brown trout can live to ages of 20 years. But as with the Atlantic salmon, a high proportion of males die after spawning, and probably fewer than 20% of anadromous female kelts recover from spawning".
Hi Benjamin - trout are more active in the morning or evening, or during days of low light conditions (such as cloudy or rainy days). Roe bags are a good bait to us, as are minnows and night crawlers. Fly's also work very well for trout and in clear water, stick to natural looking fly's - or - you can also use silver, in-lie spinners such as a Mepps or a Panther Martinn spinner :)
Thanks for the nice feedback and for taking time to write to us - it's comments such as yours which make our efforts all worth while :) Hope you have a great year on the water and thanks for tuning in :)
Great feedback - thanks! Very interesting info and appreciate you taking the time to do some research and for writing back. Hope you are having a great year on the water :)
I was working at my desk today and I got the e-mail and that was almost as good as being out there with you. A while back you had mentioned that the guy the makes your streamers and jigs might start to sell his wares. I enjoyed the e-mail and the good pointers!!!!
Hello Ivo, your fishing skills are amazing!! I get a lot of learning out of your videos and ever since I`ve started watching your videos, I have caught so many fish because of you!! I can`t wait till the spring and summer in my state because that`s when the AZGFD (Game and Fish Dept.) stocks all the lakes!! Thank you so for teaching me the skills for being a better fisherman and good luck to you, Antonio, and your crew!!
Hi Ben, if you plan on using light line, such as 4 - 6 lb test, then a longer rod is the way to go, such as 8 foot or 9 foot. Personally, I usually use 10 lb fluorocarbon so I use a 7 foot rod :) Medium action is good.
Hi Rene and great to hear from you in Texas :) You sure can use crank baits and spoons from shore. We have a video where we are using the Python Darters form shore and in the future, we will try to do one using crank baits from shore - in fact, we'll try to do one sometime this year :)
Hi Marc, for stocked lakes, suggest using a night crawler, leaf worm, or corn. Look for an area where there may be some current or running water as that will produce more oxygen and the trout will relate to that (for example if there is a creek or river joining into the lake, fish the mouth of that area) Good luck Marc :)
Hi Thomas - great to hear from you in California - when using light line, just be sure to use your drag properly so that the trout do not break you off :)
HI Mitch - the medium size T-Turn is a good all purpose size - you will love using them! As for the Viper Spoons, you will want to use the SP1 or SP2 sizes for trout, bass or walleye. Spring and fall are the best times for trout :)
Hi Eric, we'll see what we can do, but in the meanwhile, be sure to be very quiet when fishing small creeks for trout and a good spot to try would be where the creek makes a bend - typically, it is deeper at the bend and the trout will hold in that area. Good luck :)
Hi Mirza, Rainbow and brown trout are open year round on Lake Ontario and the lower Niagara River :) Lake trout are not open year round, but they are open now right through to Sept :)
I really enjoyed this video. I don't do any trout fishing but after watching how you rigged up for them i am excited to try it out. keep the informative videos coming. I also liked the way you showed how you were rigged.
Hi ivo it's nice to watch your video and get new ideas because its my 1st time to had an interest on fishing :) i just bought some fishing materials this week and i'm still watching over onto your videos :) hi again from Oslo,Norway :)
Great video ivo I love your enthusiasm and the love for the sport !!! Keep up the great work :) I'm amazed every time you go go the water you get into huge fish I wish it was like that for me ... I pick up on your tips and soon get there
Nice to hear from you and thanks for writing in. A row bag is when you take some salmon eggs or trout eggs and tie them in a small mesh sack. We have a video which will actually show you how to do this :)
Hi Jacob, it would be best to fish right at the crack of dawn, during these hot summer months. Or, if you have a rainy day, the trout will typically be active all day long - good luck :)
Yes it is - in fact, salmon love spoons :) If you have the Python Darter, suggest rigging it with a 3: artificial minnow - it will look like 2 actions in one lure with one bait fish chasing another....works great :)
I haven't been fishing for about 4 years (been very busy), and this video just took me down the memory lane. I used to watch Thundermist videos back then and I always found these videos motivating to watch; thanks for reminding me again to take some days off from the crazy life and go fishing. Brought my tackle boxes out and ready to go fishing. Thank you.
Great to hear from you in Connecticut :) Roe bags are salmon eggs or trout eggs tied in a small nylon sack, about the size of a nickle - we have a video on our you tube channel which will show you how to tie your own. Some tackle shops will sell them as well. Otherwise, you can use live minnows or worms for the trout. Or if you want, you can also try in-line spinners such as a mepps or panther martin :)
Hello Saul - I see someone responded to you using the Thundermistlures name, but that was not me (we are looking into this) The answer he gave is correct though. The salmon jumping are King Salmon, otherwise also known as Chinook salmon. Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water :)
i love seeing your videos fishing from shore because i am a "boatless angler".Im from deep south Texas US and your tips have taught me alot. I havea question, could you fish from shore using lures, cranks, or spoons? Maybe you could do a video on that. Thanks for all the tips from South Texas. Fish On!!
Hi Jeff, sounds like you gave it a good try yesterday and just being out fishing is half the fun :) PS> I see someone wrote you back yesterday who used the Thundermist name, but it wasn't me....just thought I'd let you know - we are looking into this :)
Hi Matllob - this spot is right at Port Delhousie, Ontario Canada (near st. Catharines) You can fish the entire area from the dam right down to the lake :)
Love the videos you share, thanks for those, usually very informative. I'm going to be trying that kind of set up here in Idaho on the Snake River, I think it will work well. Trying to find the T-turn swivels, may have to order them online. Wanted to know, what bait did that big brown take?
I have found that Rainbow trout are very active in the early morning and the evening. If the day is cloudy or rainy, they seem to be active all day long :)
Im actually from Indiana but thank you for the comment. haha it really does look like they make a difference. I'll to sure to look around for them! Great videos by the way. Best on youtube!
Great videos! Sometimes it's hard to tell exactly how your rig is set up. Could you possibly show a little more detail with closeups or explain just real quick from top to bottom what you did. Thanks for all your tips!
Check with your local stores as more and more stores are starting to carry them. If they do not have them, as them to get in touch with us to set up an account. The T-Turns really do work great and they really do make a big difference :) Not sure where you are from but I know in St.Catharines for example, Peters Tackle carries them :)
Hi Ethan - try using corn as bait - the corn can be used right out of the can that you buy at your local grocery store. Otherwise, try using worms as bait and small spinner will work as well (like a Mepps spinner or a Panther Martin) Good luck next time - I hope you catch some trout :)
Glad you are enjoying our videos Jeff and thanks for such a nice compliment :) Much appreciated :) Until next time, good luck and good fishing!

Hi Gabbi - this brown trout episode was filmed in Port Delhousie Ontario but there is also great brown trout fishing in NY as well :)

Glad you enjoyed the Video Peter and good luck on the water!
Hi Mike - salmon spawn in the fall and it varies for trout...for example rainbows spawn in the spring, where as brown trout spawn in the fall :)
Great to hear from you in Indiana and hope you have many great days on the water :)

Hi Tristan, you can certainly use a longer leader line - in this case, I used a short one to avoid snags as there are many rocks :)
Glad you are enjoying our videos - thanks for writing in and until next time good luck and good fishing :)
Glad you enjoyed the video Jonathan and thanks for writing in :) Until next time good luck and good fishing!

Glad you enjoyed the video and the salmon were jumping steady that evening - just couldn't get one to bite :)
Hi Eric, we'll see what we can do, but in the meanwhile, be sure to be very quiet when fishing small creeks for trout and a good spot to try would be where the creek makes a bend - typically, it is deeper at the bend and the trout will hold in that area. Good luck :)

Yes, you can certainly use this technique in a pond form a Kayak, however, you will need to ensure your line is moving if you use a streamer fly :)
I was using my slat water striker combo from cabelas :) I like to use 20 lb braided line with a 12 lb fluorocarbon leader
Glad you enjoyed the video and good luck with your salt striker combo :)
Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the feedback on the close up views :)
