Scenarios Where Xbox Beats Steam

- Just so we're clear, I'm talking about the Xbox ecosystem as a whole and the very specific personal scenarios I've found where Xbox beats Steam for my game purchases and playtime. It's sort of an extension of a video I've been kicking around about multiplatform gaming in the modern age and sorting out where to buy a game when you have multiple options available. And because Xbox had some distinct competitive advantages when pitted against Steam both as a marketplace AND a platform, it seemed like a good place to start.

I love my Xbox and my Steam Deck, I keep buying titles for both.
I keep buying Switch exclusives for sure! I know I won't get to 1000 Year Door anytime soon, but I still had to go for it ya know?
It’s nice to see another Steam Deck and Xbox Gamepass fan! There are some games I know my Deck will struggle with, graphically, and since I don’t have an actual gaming PC, I buy them on Xbox.
That's a pretty cool breakdown actually. Srsly!! That covers a wide variety of experiences. I treat my Deck like a Switch on steroids, and I play the hefty AAA titles on PC. But the Xbox is a nice option too esp for saving money
The Deck definitely has me yearning for a gaming PC again, I’m just waiting for a better time financially! 😅
Most definitely! Oh that's a really good reason I hadn't thought of- There are definitely games like Far Cry that run much better on my Xbox than the Deck (or, well PS5 too now that I'm thinking about it)
For me it depends on the game or use case. I use PS5 for AAA exclusives, or just AAA in general if I am buying them. I use my PC for Gamepass for XBOX games I can't get on PS5, or EA Play games like Jedi Survivor. And I use Steam generally for Indie/older games I normally play on my Steam Deck. Steam Deck is also handy for streaming from PS5 or using Xbox Cloud via XBPlay app.
PS5 is also my typical platform for collecting multiplatform releases but yeah, it would be hard for me to ditch consoles entirely. It'd be cool if everything could be unified for convenience sake buuuut on the other hand I want competition to exist for these big manufacturers/publishers ya know?
@@YourPlayer2 I built my gaming PC and while I enjoy having it, I find working all day at it and then sitting at same desk gaming to be too much, so found myself back to the console a lot more now (and steam deck). Be good if you got a license for a game when buying it and it was platform agnostic so you could play wherever that game is available without repurchasing - won't happen but we can dream!
LoL I can definitely relate! I love
my PC after rebuilding it earlier this year, but after working at my desk all day not always appealing to spend my leisure time there too!
This was a great list of pros for the Xbox as a whole! For me it's even simpler: Game Pass is the best value for gaming period in my opinion... as long as you don't mind not owning the games! The fact that I can play some of the latest releases for 15$ a month instead of paying 70$ for each releases, it's such an advantage! And I'm a Playstation fan as I prefer that ecosystem but I can't deny Xbox strength! Great video and keep up the good work!
Thanks dude! It's an incredible value and every time I think about canceling it seems like they drop something incredible on the service.
That new setup is fantastic! Still great audio without the mic getting in the way. As for Gamepass-used to have it, but I’m lazy and don’t care for having to go back and forth between launchers and I have everything I need consolidated onto Steam. I only buy games on consoles for their exclusive or first party titles, which even now is slowly changing (at least for Xbox). Just wish Nintendo would jump on the bandwagon and offer their titles on Steam. I’ll gladly pay for the convenience-as opposed to tinkering with emulation for my must have Switch games and/or having to carry two devices.
Still a work in progress for sure! LoL I know what you mean- sometimes I just prefer the simplicity of staying in Steam's walled garden of sorts. Maybe they will someday- at least they're putting some stuff on mobile now and that seemed like it took WAY longer than it should have.
I can't justify the price of game pass when my steam library has so many games I haven't played yet, but occasionally if there is a new game I really wanna play I will go on g2a and get a 1 month game pass ultimate key for 3 dollars and then play it on my xbox
That makes sense and not a bad strategy!
Just imagine if Xbox/Microsoft does build a windows handheld and let's all store fronts, in a big picture style mode 🤤
Really enjoyed the video new sub from me if I had give a critique it would be just to slow down alil bit feels like you're rushing through the script/points but otherwise fantastic vid
That would be killer! Glad you dug the content and appreciate the feedback! Unfortunately that's an area I always struggle with but I'm working on it :)
I have a PS5 and a Steam Deck (no dedicated gaming PC yet) and so I can’t say anything about XBOX, but I will say owning the Deck has shown me just how great the Steam marketplace is. I rarely if ever buy anything other than big AAA games like Baldur’s Gate 3 on Playstation, where I buy everything else on Steam (like indies, older AAA games like Witcher 3, Persona 5). When it comes to deals Playstation is just so lacking, whereas on Steam my entire wishlist is currently on sale.
I feel ya- More often than not I'll do the same. I mean PS5 exclusives I kind of HAVE to because I'm not patient enough to wait a year in most cases :p But beyond that I agree- Just about anything else I'm getting on Steam nowadays!
Steam deck is life.
It's pretty solid!
I'm a PC, steam deck, and switch gamer. I never had xbox . Would it be worth try now?
If there's any particular exclusive you're after then sure! But a lot of their games come to PC as well so if that's where you do the bulk of your playing it might not be wholly necessary. But if you're looking for a quick, responsive game setup with pretty solid graphics in the comfort of your living room might be worth a look- particularly if you play a bunch of Play Anywhere titles where you can sync your progress!
I loved my xbox but I found it just collected dust once i got my steam deck. Instead i just roll with a pc, deck and modded switch now, probably still overkill to have both the switch and deck though lol
I use it fairly often, albeit mostly for Dead by Daylight since I foolishly bought all the expansion stuff there rather than on PC :p Sounds like a good setup!
The reason why you found Silent Hill Homecoming so cheap is because Xbox is having a massive sale before the Xbox Marketplace for Xbox 360 shutsdown.
Ah that makes sense- I was about to say that seemed CRAZY steep by Konami standards.
I buy titles on Switch, Steam Deck, and PC but only when they're on sale. I had to sell my Series S to replace an exploded tire, unfortunately so all I have now is my Xbox One so I'm not buying Xbox games like I used to.
Yeah, it's rare that I ever look at other digital marketplaces but every now and then something will grab my attention- Probably doesn't help that I'm a sucker for Silent HIll! That sucks about your tire but sounds like you still have plenty to play!
The ONLY advantage that a console (aka only PlayStation) has over PC is achievements. Achievement points and steam points don't mean shit but on PlayStation, getting a platinum trophy for a game is different
Steam just needs to make different achievements grades like PlayStation does and go away from the points and it would be perfect!
I never really got into achievement/trophy hunting, but definitely impressive seeing what some people go through for a platinum!
@@YourPlayer2 achievements are the real metric to get players playing longer. Companies forgot about that
@joefromseattle
So. What you got? 😂😂
