I started strongly suspecting him during the first spy-related flashback (or whenever it was said the spy was an actor), and along with that I also that he could probably draw properly (and hid it as a villain), so I was expecting the Kanjuro on the boat to be a drawing as soon as he confirmed he was the spy. (I don't want to say "traitor" because he was never on their side in the first place.)
Excuse my comment! Regarding Kanjuro's betrayal, there was actually some foreshadowing, so here are a few things. 1. It is said that what Kanjuro was eating when he first appeared was lettuce. The language of flowers is said to be ruthless or cold. 2. The alias "yudachi" evening rain refers to a thunderstorm that hides the moon. 3. It depicts a dragon, which is an avenger for kinemon. (He was able to draw it because he was Kanjuro, who had no heart in the first place. (Kanjuro himself said, "An eye for an eye.") The fact that Jack was able to come to Zou, which is normally accessible only with a bible card. And he did it by naming the thunder elephant. 5. He drew with his left hand even though his dominant arm was originally his right hand (he used his dominant arm while eating). (He used his dominant arm while eating.) 6. Most of the nine men in red sheaths like oden, but only Kanjuro likes cabbage rolls and Western food. There was a certain strangeness in their behavior. I apologize for the length of this article.
Kanjuro is the MVP bad-guy of this arc so far, as far as I'm concerned. Imagine keeping your intentions and true self hidden for YEARS. Never once breaking character. Not only that, Kanjuro had to hide his own artistic skills so that his true devil fruit proficiency would be kept secret. And the scariest part? He did all this for *no physical reward*. He was fully prepared to boil to death with the other retainers. He never expected to get some grand reward from Orochi or Kaido at the end of his role.
When it stated that the spy was from a family of theater actors, I immediately knew & had a feeling that Kanjuro was the spy due to Kanjuro's usual attire-appearance had the reminding look to actors who perform Kabuki, a classical Japanese dance-drama
I'm Japanese. Sorry for my bad English.🙏 ↓↓↓ Kanjuro's nickname in Japan is 『Yudachi』 (5:43) Yudachi = sudden heavy rain. It's raining in this scene. It has the meaning of deceiving someone.😱
But, Kiku and Izo both are theater actors as well. That is what it seems to portray. Hence in the last moments, there is back and forth shots for Kiku and Kanjuro as they are the last suspects.
@erwindavid2859 I'm under the impression Kiku and Izou are geisha/performers (song and dance), and not so much actors. More like Yasuie as Tonoyasu (male geisha) or Komurasaki (oiran).

Like it was a wholeass anime in itself and we got so invested in everyone so easily that we forgot theyre not even the main crew ❤🔥Thats the power of storytelling of one piece. I sit here and listen to you guys all while I totally forgot the episode was over 😂😂. Just so nice to see such a couple that can carry an amazing dialog.
あなた達のリアクションと考察が素晴らしいです😂 ↓Sorry if the translation is wrong. "Kanjuro" has many foreshadowings. 1. "Evening Shower Kanjuro". In the evening rain, the sky is dark and there is no moon. → It's not "Kouzuki". ( "kouzuki" means "moon of light" in Japanese) 2. Despite being right-handed, Kanjuro was bad at drawing because he always drew with his left hand. 3. When Kanjuro landed on Zou, he drew a picture of a dragon. Kaido is a dragon, and despite Kouzuki's aversion to dragons, Kanjuro calmly drew them. →A foreshadowing that Kanjuro is an enemy informer. 4. Kanjuro's ability is to draw pictures with ink and materialize them. Charcoal has the same meaning as ink in Japanese, and is pronounced "Sumi (Zumi)". BLACK is pronounced "Kuro" in Japanese. A foreshadowing that black ink (charcoal) = "Kurozumi".
Another cool thing to take note of, is the fact that luffy always rushing in without a plan saved everyones neck. Their plans would've leaked, but you cant leak a plan if there was never one to begin with😂💪 GOAT for many reasons
A good example in verse is Law's fruit...as Corazon explained to law he would be able to use the fruit to it's fullest capabilities bcuz of Law's medical knowledge
I would say for Luffy he might be rubber but punching is the skill he has perfected, I say that to say Kanjuro is a great artist with a power to make his art come to life.
One could have guessed who the traitor was much earlier if one knew the traditions of Kobuki theater. Kanjuro has the makeup and clothes of the traitor character from the Kobuki Theater.
When this was revealed, I immediately remembered when Kanjuro covered Kinemon's eyes when the monkey fell on them while they were climbing Zuo. I thought, that was weird. In Dressrossa, he created the ladder to the plateau so the people can capture them and the King. He wasn't quite sure how Ussopp would use his drawing as an "ammunition" for Sugar so he went with the plan.
There were some inconsistencies about Kanjuro since Dressrosa, he drew with his left hand but ate the cabbage with his right. Even in the Oden flashback, Kanjuro held his sword using his right hand.
かん十郎は,『右利き』ですね。 691話に戻って確認して見て下さい😝 尾田先生は、ちゃんとヒントをくれてます ( *´艸`) Kanjuro is right-handed. Go back to chapter 691 and check it out 😝 Oda-sensei has given us a hint ( *´艸`)
Seeing his parents get murdered in front of him traumatised Kanjuro so badly that he became what he is, incapable of feeling love or care for others, he can only show it through acting and because of this he was looking for a place to die. Orochi didn't even have to manipulate Kanjuro into working for him and to turn in him into the perfect spy, because what Orochi asked of him was the only thing Kanjuro enjoyed (acting as another person) combined with what he wanted (to end his life).
There's even a video showing all the tidbits Oda left from Dressrosa to notice Kanjuro was the traitor. You can watch it and have a moment of "Now that you mention it...".
I still remember first time the reveal release in the manga. I Just scream outloud jumping from the chair. What A writing. Imagine if this writing create into live action or drama.
Retrospectively, looking back at the moments when the Akazaya show their skills, Kanjuro is the only one who seemingly isn't very skilled at this main power.
Oda likes to create many layers of small foreshadowing. Kanjuro's character design has the look of the traditional Japanese acting art of Kabuki. His family has been "actors" since birth. In 2015, there was an unusual collaboration in which the story of One Piece was performed in a real Kabuki play. Incidentally, the One Piece that was serialized during this period was the Dressrosa arc.😏😏😏
I still think reveal would be better without Orochi explaining in prewiouse episode. Devil fruit basically made it be Kinemon, Raizo or Kanjuro but Raizo and Kinemon didnt made sense.
Some could have been potentially hiding their devil fruit powers but yeah, it would have been better told later. The backstory also make it so it couldn't be dogstorm, catvieper or kawamatsu , since they aren't from wano and kurozumi clan. Kiku also doesn't make sense with it, because of izou, since they were orphaned together.
@@trollmaster6994 also Raizo's DF isnt really explained as one directly, but like some kind of weird magic power that could be some type of trick like Nami's "sorcery", so the only candidates really were Kanjuro and Kinemon, and no way in hell is was gonna be Kinemon.
@@Hatlessman_ I think Kiku is still make sense. Since both Izo and Kiku are performer, and Izo leave Oden just like that without even coming back to Wano for 20 years

So no, eating that fruit doesnt mean that kanjuro would suddenly know how to draw well, he just knows how to draw well. Probably ordered by Orochi to learn it as part of his “role” since it would be useful for them
I agree with you guys that Kanjuro's death didn't necessarily feel like a betrayal to us as the audience because Kanjuro didn't have the greatest characterization compared to other characters. However, that doesn't mean I felt nothing during this scene. I felt genuine tension due to the weather, everyone being on a small ass boat, the raid looking like it failed, and the realization amongst everyone that there is a traitor on that boat. In terms of Kanjuro's betrayal reveal, I still felt sad and disappointed because I put my empathy with the other scabbards like Kinemon and Kiku. Their reactions and the notion that a friend of theirs for years (and for some of them decades) betrayed them and feels no emotion is devastating. It is all very similar to how some people say that they cried during Ace's death not because of Ace dying but because of Luffy's reaction. It is the same sort of idea here for me.
Samurai believe the devil fruits are magic, sorcery, ninja skills, etc. Kanjuro is a member of the Koruzumi family, and Orochi just used him without even caring if he died in the oil. But Kanjuro, who wears a Kabuki theater outfit, was empty and needed a 'role'. The most accurate thing that Kanjuro drew in front of others was Usopp's ammo in the shape of his crazy scary face that took out Sugar. It was a bit cartoony, but he drew it precisely the way Usopp described it. Then he made a poorly designed bird that could barely fly, terrible ladders, Ryonosuke the dragon with no wings and tiny paws, bad lettuce that gave Kin'emon stomachaches, weird looking fish when he was 'blending in'... He did nothing to help in Wano. But he shed tears and was willing to die in that damn pot of oil with the others. With so many people reading this and poring over every detail, Oda has to be really subtle with his foreshadowing clues.
Usopp ask kanjuro if he can bring to real drawings that others make. Kanjuro says yes. Ussop draw the ammo that scares sugar, kanjuro just make it real.
Remember Kanjuro drew THE PINK DRAGON, RYUNOSUKE to climb Zou!!!!!!! At that time, Kinemon and Kanjuro were not supposed to know Momo ate the devil fruit and turns into the pink dragon, but Kanjuro already got this info (maybe from doffy in Dressrosa)and he Was making fun of Momo!!!!!
kanjuro is right handed, he handicap himself drawing with his left. But sword fight and chopstick use he use his right hand because is his dominant hand. Now that he is discovered there is no need to hide that.

Kanjuro broke my heart with the betrayal AND that he can actually draw. I legit have trust issues now 😂 The shocking part for me was that he willingly and happily played his role rather than being coerced.
As you said in the last part, the betrayal in this did not hit you personally. I have a question. What betrayal is more heartbreaking, Wano, Akazaya 9 or the Water 7, CP9 betrayal?
Honestly, I was drawing a blank on who the traitor was, I couldn't paint the picture of Kanjuro being the traitor, but I guess he did look kinda sketchy in hindsight.
because they never suspected of their one, they knew someone leaked info, but they all act ike ''we have so much more honour than everyone else, of course its was from someone outside wano who leaked'', and got what they deserved, complete tossing blames to people who was trying to help them when their on house is dirty as fk
Luffy's captain coat: Black, slick, very similar to shanks, very reminiscent of clasic pirate captain coat. Black represents power and elegance. Luffy has grown as a Captain tremendously since the start of One Piece. He finally earned his Captain's Coat. Law's captain coat: Blue feather, similar to Doflamingo's coat, but where Doffy's pink represented elegance and love, Law's blue represents calm, and stability, showing his growth as a character. Kid's captain coat: Dark Red feather'd coat, Represents strength, authority, and sacrifice. Kid's been put through the ringer while chasing after his dream, but he remains strong and determined.
the only clue that i should've realized sooner was that oda likes to draw villains as goofy ugly looking characters.. why is kanjuro looking so different compared to other retainers?
just see the detail, when kanjuro using left hand to draw thats so bad, when kanjuro using right hand, the draw so good. thats how good oda make story telling so perfect. if u see this detail from the beggining of kanjuro intoduced, then u knew oda plan always step ahead. just watched his hand when he draw bird and he draw now. wait i forget, kanjuro back story he grew up in theater. thats why he actually dont have feeling, he's live like acting. GODA write is insane.
ALL THINGS IS HAPPENED DUE TO KOZUKI FAUT, why they kill all kurozumi members?? is ilogical they dont have to kill orochi's family and kanjuro's family
It was never said that the Kozuki ordered it. Some people played vigilante and Orochi blamed Sukiyaki only for being born and screwing up his grandfather's plans.
It is not total kozuki fault. This is edo japan no such constitution were there. People act themselves to kill like, kozuki might even give damn about them. Momonusuke is supposed to fix this think and definitely hiyori will play part as well in future.

Corazon was using a black coat like Doflamingo, maybe this is Law inspiration
The reason is : Kurozumi family .
Poor Ryonosuke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!《●》
Don't trust everybody example right there 💔
Never trust a clown. 🤡🤣🤣
Which is Kantyuro dominant hand?

Please watch OVERLORD ♡♡♡♡♡♡
LFG !!!
the only clue that i should've realized sooner was that oda likes to draw villains as goofy ugly looking characters.. why is kanjuro looking so different compared to other retainers?
From 🇮🇩
Aku ingin bertanya kapada kalian berdua, bagaimana one piece sejauh ini menurut kalian? 🙂
just see the detail, when kanjuro using left hand to draw thats so bad, when kanjuro using right hand, the draw so good.
thats how good oda make story telling so perfect.
if u see this detail from the beggining of kanjuro intoduced, then u knew oda plan always step ahead.
just watched his hand when he draw bird and he draw now.
wait i forget, kanjuro back story he grew up in theater. thats why he actually dont have feeling, he's live like acting.
GODA write is insane.
Also, Kanjuro is dressed like a Kabuki play actor was a give away too.
You should watch bleach
wayyy too many ads
If the devil fruit chooses it user then why would he not be able to draw
First :)
I have an anime I want you guys to watch. Anime nam Overlord
Then why didn't Sukiyaki and Oden killed Orochi when he revealed he's a Kurozumi? "Kozuki's fault" yeahhh..
It is not total kozuki fault. This is edo japan no such constitution were there. People act themselves to kill like, kozuki might even give damn about them.
Momonusuke is supposed to fix this think and definitely hiyori will play part as well in future.
Kishimoto better than Oda in plot twists
Kanjuro was very obvious that he was the traitor 😎
I wished for the dog to be the traitor, I hate dogs with passion
