The main reason Momonosuke ate the fruit was because it was hidden away and he was starved, since it wasnt something given to him there was no reason it was poisoned, so it should be safe, it was more a moment of desperation thing then trying to reach for the fruits power

Well, Rayleigh swam to Amazon Lily through the calm belt, so one of the most highly skilled Fishmen can swim from Big Mom's territory to Wano.
Kanjuro's devil fruit power is incredible. It could be used for so much good and for hideous means as well (let's leave that to the imagination). If I had it I'd drop everything I'm doing and practice drawing or painting. Could you imagine being able to buy a bucket of paint, pain an outline of a house, and have it become a real house? Although I'm not sure if it would turn back into ink if the fruit user dies...
