Closure is not a destination, it’s a life choice; a practice. There are fragments of closure, but existing in the present and moving forward is the only true closure that exists, independent of the type/degree of grief. If a person believes Cruz should suffer, then they would logically prefer a long life (50-70 years) in a Florida private prison over a quick death in ten years. Again, if the goal is to see Cruz suffer, death would be a release; a relief; a kindness.

What if NC kills someone else whilst in prison. He is a very dangerous man with no empathy, doesn't feel guilty and has no regret and has never apologised for his crimes or taken responsibility for them.
I saw a video of him fighting with one of the prison guards trying to get his taser to use it on him. Can’t help but think he’s going to put more people at risk.
The system is crazy. My brothers best friend was brutally brutally murdered By is wife. The death penalty or life in prision w out parole. The Jury felt life In prision because there was a 3yr old son. The jury felt like what if wanted to talk w a sociopath mother. Needless to say my family and everyone who loved Jay. wanted Justice and he was raised by his bro.
now he got life they really can't let anything happen to him in prison so he will go into protective custody to keep him alive just because someone said they think he shouldn't get the death penalty.
I'm confident he'll meet his end behind bars. Every convict has a little sister or a loved one a niece that one of the victims reminds him of. A man with life has nothing more to lose. Not many chances to do something good either. I'm confident someone will cut his sentence short.
The hatred directed at the young killer by the public is, as Oscar Wilde might have remarked, the rage of Caliban seeing his own face in the mirror I'm unimpressed by a husband and father calling for the killer to be murdered by other prisoners. Does he not realise it's that sort of mindset that brings about this sort of thing in the first place?
I know this is about where your values lie, but you mustn't forget: the guy he's talking about killed his kid and a bunch of others in a COLD and PLANNED manner. A case like this is about future prevention and emotions. The victims families want closure, and it didn't happen.
@@ajw1045 Did you miss the part where the guy said "there's no such thing as closure"? You're talking about what the guy in the video just said but you didn't even pay attention to what the guy said.
That makes no sense, that his mindset will bring what sort of thing? Are you assuming his mindset will commit violent crimes. I’m so tired of hearing pointless excerpts from Oscar Wilde, Ghandi or whomever else. People of this generation have gone soft, soft on criminals. Guess what every mass murderer has some sort of mental illness. Yea let’s spare that scum because it’s “not right” to kill and give the parents endless more grief.
While tragic beyond belief, I am not surprised. The trial took place in the hypocrite state of Florida, where the right to life is trumped by the 2nd Amendment. Unless people with serious mental problems can be involuntarily locked up for their own protection and the protection of society, and receive treatment, the country will continue suffering the loss of our children and young adults. As a Florida Sheriff recently asked, when have you heard of a sane person committing mass murder? Once a person with dangerous mental problems invokes their 2nd Amendment "right" to buy military style firearms and large quantities of ammunition, it is too late for the mental health treatment or any argument relating to mental health in court. Take him to Guantánamo Bay, strip him naked, lock him in an outdoor cage, and give him neither food nor water, nothing except the thoughts and prayers of the three jurors for the rest of his life! Show the world how effective and useful thoughts and prayers really are!
Why can't they overturn the verdict? A juror being threatened taints the whole determination of the verdict. We should have a completely new trial with new jurors.
They will do that whenever/ if ever THEY decide as they were the victims here, not others on the 'net telling them how they 'should' feel or get over it, etc. SMH
Tons of people have mental illness and shitty childhoods. I guess this means no accountability. Of course he new every move he made. Bullshit. Peace and ❤️

I was glad to hear Fred say that his goal was to originally make peace with the verdict, but preferring an incarcerated death as he mentioned... isnt going to discipline peacefulness.
he sounds so bad, his daughter would be disgusted
How do you get that wrong🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ they need their heads checked
hey atleast i don’t want someone to die so badly
Jamie was so beautiful and Fred is such a good guy. Love following him on Twitter.
I can't express the sadness I feel, I wish I could write a letter to the families is there an address or a point person?
I have never hated a juror more since the Casey Anthony jury……🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
The quote behind Fred Guttenberg "dreams and dedication are a powerful combination" does that say Jaime at the bottom?
Yeah
Yes. I believe Jaime had said that.💛
Does anyone know the story? What led to her saying that?
I edited this because I want to thank our presenter Jim De Fed and will subscribe!! Mr Guttenberg You should be a news commentator! I've loved all these parents for many many month they are Kings and Queens dignity beyond reason
What if NC kills someone else whilst in prison. He is a very dangerous man with no empathy, doesn't feel guilty and has no regret and has never apologised for his crimes or taken responsibility for them.
He pled guilty. I think that is taking responsibility.
He apologized when he pleaded guilty.
@@KRDos_Aus that’s not
Taking responsibility. He just hoped it would spare his life

So sorry sir you and your family be well
It is so sad that someone could take lives of inocent people prayers go out to families of victims and everyone who was there that day
The system is crazy. My brothers best friend was brutally brutally murdered By is wife. The death penalty or life in prision w out parole.
The Jury felt life In prision because there was a 3yr old son. The jury felt like what if wanted to talk w a sociopath mother.
Needless to say my family and everyone who loved Jay. wanted
Justice and he was raised by his bro.
now he got life they really can't let anything happen to him in prison so he will go into protective custody to keep him alive just because someone said they think he shouldn't get the death penalty.
What about the attempted murder charges?
These poor families.
I'm confident he'll meet his end behind bars. Every convict has a little sister or a loved one a niece that one of the victims reminds him of. A man with life has nothing more to lose. Not many chances to do something good either. I'm confident someone will cut his sentence short.
But they will put him in Protection
Shocking result, but the state did an excellent job, so no shame there, all the shame is on those 3 jurors.
As long as killer is alive, they should make that juryer pay for every day he's alive!
Do you mean all 3 jurors who voted life?
you sound so bitter, get help
He has no remorse
The hatred directed at the young killer by the public is, as Oscar Wilde might have remarked, the rage of Caliban seeing his own face in the mirror
I'm unimpressed by a husband and father calling for the killer to be murdered by other prisoners.
No actually it’s not. These people did nothing to Nicholas Cruz
Circle back when it's your kid.

Wrong. The first vote had 7 jurors voting for DP, 1 juror voted no, and 4 were undecided.
The jury understood....except Denise Cunha....... Melody Vanoy and one more who followed.
Nik will suffer period. Let anger subside.
They will do that whenever/ if ever THEY decide as they were the victims here, not others on the 'net telling them how they 'should' feel or get over it, etc. SMH
That one f***ing juror needed more time to deliberate.
Well now advicate that a 17 year old not be allowed to buy a gun
Tons of people have mental illness and shitty childhoods. I guess this means no accountability.
Of course he new every move he made.

@Julie Cruz but they said a juror was threatened...

Fred Guttenberg is a BAD ASS! Greater than human.
So glad I was not a juror.
I watched the trail in its entirety and the "verdict" . My heart goes out to every person that lost their family member, friends that horrific day. Listening to Fred Guttenberg talk about this and the loss of his daughter Jaime . As I listened to the Judge read all 17 juror's verdicts I couldn't help to think, my god 17 senseless deaths', how many people have to die before the DP is imposed? I love his analogy of "closure" there never will be closure as long as we visit our daughter in the cemetery. It is a page that we turn the chapter on. I never have been a huge fan of the DP however, I am in absolute favor of abolishing solitary confinement and protecting these people. Let him face his consequences like Ted Bundy did.... I to suffer from mental illness and was raised in a violent alcohol infused home and knew and know to this day the difference between right and wrong.
Cruz going to prison?

Omg why in the hell didn’t he get death? Thisis crazy what is the death sentence for if not for this? My heart breaks for these families and children justice was not done
If you truly believe in God, you will know that He alone can judge not a broken system. Mental illness is the issue here.
