Great timing on this video. Saturday morning, when I can sit and soak up all the new edge glory. Thanks Justin!🙏
Awesome.
Great video!! I bought Bullitt #01102, in DHG w/ the Mach 460, brand new back in Sept. 2001 and still have her to this day (although with nearly 140,000 miles on her). I never knew about the rear seat hologram sticker until now, so I'll have to check that out. I used her as a daily driver for ten years before retiring her to the garage. I'll be retiring in just a little over twenty months, at which time I'll start rehabbing her from the ground up, trying to keep everything as stock as possible. Although I know I'll never be able to source oem Tokico shocks and struts, I'll probably go with Bilsteins for the replacements. As for all the rubber bushings, I'll probably swap everything out for poly units for sake of longevity and consistent performance. Videos such as yours keep the fire burning in me to start working on my Bullitt as soon as I can!!
Keep up the good work!
Wow that’s incredible! I think it’s awesome that you bought it brand new and enjoyed it all these years! Good for you. You have been able to truly experience the BULLITT mustang. I’m glad you commented. Thanks for sharing
Great video, 30k mile original owner Black Bullitt here. Learned a few new things I wasn't aware of, thanks for the great info. Everything original on my car except battery and tires. Hard to believe these beauties are over 20 years old now...
That’s great. Sounds like you have a nice one.
Justin Your knowledge of New Edge is amazing for a young man. Always love your post and look forward to each post The Old Man in Texas
Thank you. It’s always good to hear from you.
I've owned every generation of Mustang, going back to the foxbody, except a NewEdge. Had a 1994, but went straight to an s197 after that one. Your channel is making me seriously consider getting one. Love the content.
I can say with my hand on my heart that it was because of Justin and Danny's videos that I began to notice these awesome cars, and ended up buying both an '03 GT Centennial coupe and then an '01 Cobra coupe within about 2 months of each other.
Edit: I came from a '73 Mach 1 CJ and an '05 V6 prior to those cars
Right on
Great video Justin, being a Bullitt owner I am always interested in continuing to learn more about these cars (MissionAccomplished). Love the content and your knowledge of these cars. Your research on them is impressive. Appreciate all the you do! Todd Schultz
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Great Video! I own #4149 with 45k miles. All original, other than belts, tires and hoses. I was fortunate enough to have bet both Scott and Anthony at several events.
Cool
Love watching your videos. Have a 04 screaming yellow cobra myself owned it for 16 years with only 75k miles.
Awesome! Nice choice
Just to clarify, there was only one Prototype Bullitt Mustang (2000 LA Auto Show)...and it was sold at the Christie's Auto Auction in 2002 for just over $68k. Jack Roush's "Bullitt #1" was a pre-production Bullitt Mustang and different (built later) from the concept. Sam Pack owns the prototype and Jack owns the pre-production '01 Bullitt.
Always one of my favorites too. got lucky enough to buy 3 years ago still have it more Vortech supercharged, 408 horsepower/ 396 tq, stock engine. Not to mention I just love storytime on this channel😁
Really wish they could've used the protype bumper than SVT ended up using. Hands down the best NewEdge rear bumper out there.
Very good video Justin! Thank you for mentioning my channel.
What I also like is the side skirts
They are like a mix of Gt that shave down toward rear tire and become flush like the Bullitt
I Just Learned More About My 01' DHG BULLITT In This Past Hour & 5 Minutes Than I Have In The Last 5 Years Of Owning It. Thanx
Awesome
great video..thankyou..Im one of those weird people who prefer the black or true blue Bullit
Great video. Very informative.
Thank you
The "R code " in the 60s Mustangs ment "428cj ram air" my 68&1/2 was a R code car. The non ram air 428cj was a "Q" code. Great video Justin!
That’s interesting to know. Did Mach 1’s with shakers in 69-70 only have 428’s? Or could you get a 351 with a shaker?
Great thorough video of the Bullitt as well as other New Edge info! I think Ford had to keep some model separation so having a 4v in the Bullitt would have really killed the SVT sales for that year. Im sure you saw the motor week video overview of the 2 but you could clearly tell by John Davis expression that even though a couple tenths slower than the Cobra the Bullitt was their favorite 👍. Really enjoyed the video!!
I agree with you. I have thought about how the bullitt being a 4V would hurt the 01 cobra and that is probably why SVT was totally against it.
@@justin.c_svt On another note people talk about the Bullitt being slower than a Gt or not any faster or barely faster. I know all cars are different and with stick shift cars it’s obviously a drivers race. All the test runs back in 01 had the Bullitt at 14.1, 14.3, 14.5 etc but there is that 01 footage on RUclips that Tony Alonso posted Im guessing its Evan Smith driving but he pulls down a 13.7 in the brand new Bullitt. He is driving the wheels off the car but that is a true caught on video representation of the the true 275hp the car actually put down. 13.7 for a crown vic engine and for that time frame was a fantastic time!!
I have the documents of the BULLITT being tested by 5.0 and it might be Evan Smith. I’ll make a video of it
@@justin.c_svt Awesome!!👍
Cool to be a new owner of one of these, never really knew about them. But was in market for a mustang and found a 26k mile black Bullitt near me, had to have it! Checks all my boxes for what i was looking for in a Mustang. Love driving it! Wanted to try to find a cobra, but with any good one being 25k+, no chance at that right now.
That’s cool! You made a good choice. The bullitt is very cool.
Great video Justin! Can you do a video talking about 99-01 SVT Cobra?
Id like to make that video.
Nice video. I have one also Only 26000 miles. All original.
That’s great
Great video. The McQeen 04 is currently on eBay for $81k it’s had several price reductions. Also the 2000 concept car is located in a Texas Museum cold pack automotive museum.
I wondered about that. The book was not clear on whether the roush test car was the same car as the one in TX.
Justin, thanks for the video. I've learned a lot about the Bullitt from this and your other videos. On December 22, 2001, I purchased my 2002 satin silver premium GT, with Bullitt wheels, which I still have today. When I was at the dealer, the salesman told me he could get a Bullitt if I was interested. At the time, information wasn't as available about cars like it is now. However, I did research the car before I went in and was aware of the Bullitt's intake and exhaust, however a car magazine test had the Bullitt a tick slower than the GT to 60. Was this accurate? Who knows, but it was a factor in my decision. I was also not interested in the available colors or the metal fuel filler door and I wanted the rear spoiler and side scoops. With all that and being in my 20s with less income, I declined. Plus, I had done my research and knew exactly what I wanted, which was my exact car that I saw on the lot one Friday night. The next day I purchased it. All these years I could have sold it to make room for better performing cars. But like you and your Bullitt, their's too much of a history with it and my family that I would regret it. However, if I knew what you have taught us about the Bullitt, I may have went a different route back in 2001. Thanks again for your videos. I know they take lots of work to produce with little financial reward, but they are appreciated by all us new new edge fans.
Thank you very much for that comment. I can agree with you that there are things about the GT that personally I like better than Bullitt such as color and side scoops. I didn’t mention it in this video ( but I did in the story of BULLITT 974) but the guy who had the green Bullitt who owned the Ford dealership here in town actually got GT side scoops to put on it because he liked them better too. As far as road tests go, I know some magazines slaughter the launch (especially the 03 cobra and Mach 1 reviews) so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a poor job with the BULLITT. 5.0 magazine tested the BULLITT 1/4 mile at 13.6 and the 99 Cobra just a tick slower at 13.69 or something like that and the Mach 1 at 13.1 all together the same day at the track. I’m happy for you to have bought what you wanted. If I were to buy brand new, I might have done the same and chosen almost any color over the BULLITT’s colors.
So…watching your video made me rethink replacing my pcv valve on my bullitt …the one on the bullitt is different than the standard Gt…have you replaced one on any of your bullitts? If you did…what did you use? Great video..like always!!
I’ve only added breathers and left the PVC check valves that were there. I’ve never replaced one
The third build sticker is available through Ford racing. I just had mine delivered and installed at my local Ford dealer because my strut tower sticker was destroyed.
Awesome. Nice to know. They have changed who gives them out a couple times from what I’ve heard
I have tried for years to get one for mine, the 1st time around they said they sent it to a local dealer but it was either never sent, never got there or I don't know.
Great video. The bullitt stickers they say there is 4, I got my 3rd never tried for a 4th. The interesting thing with mine, I got it through the parts department I know the guy so when the sticker came in he gave me the whole envelope. I was the first to open it. It comes with the instructions where it goes for the mechanic to put it on but I seen the sticker itself was in a another envelope with the vin typed on it. I thought that was cool there is a pile on envelopes with the stickers and vins printed on them laying at ford headquarters somewhere. I just mention this because everyone's bullitt sticker quest is different.
You would have technically gotten the 4th sticker. The first 3 were printed together in strips of 3, the 2 if those on the car and the 3rd of the strip either thrown away or put in the time capsule depending on what the truth of that is. The 4th sticker was later printed missing the 0 in front of the number and put in the envelope you received
@@justin.c_svt do they still give them out if you print off the tsb or whatever it is and bring the current registration with the vin?
As long as the previous owner hasn’t claimed it yet, they should
@@justin.c_svt thanks
Enjoy the information. I have a 2001 black, 65,000 miles.
Awesome
I think ford should’ve put a bullitt badge on the front fenders instead of the gt badges, just like how the cobras have the snake, saleens have the s281 badge etc
Yes. I’ve seen people do that, including the guy who had the first BULLITT I ever knew
I agree that the 35th anniversary GT is undervalued because of its unique body paneling but, as a finished product if you put it next an 01 or later GT it just doesn’t look a nice..
Nice video Justin..I like that pre production bullitt a lot..
Thank you.
Ford Historical department should hire you.
Not sure why on the Bullitt edition there's no rear spoiler. looks like something missing to me.
When they designed the car, they wanted a very subtle small spoiler on it like the flip up design on the 67 but it was so much trouble they realize that if they’re going for a very subtle look it would be easier just to leave it off so they did.
Be cool if they made front pony on bullitt black
Found a Green 2001 Bullitt near me for $39,000 cdn with 4200km's on it. Been for sale for a long time. Price is too high. Can get a low mile Mach 1 for that around here.
What you think it's worth? Original owner.
I’m not sure what the Canadian market difference is. Sometimes bullitt can bring as much as a Mach 1 to the right person who is looking to buy one
I have a question, did all bullitt mustangs came with the GT fender emblem? Or did they vary because of aniversary cars?
All 2001 bullitts came with the GT badge. There were No Anniversary models in 2001. And bullitts were only made in 2001 and then later in 2008- 2009 with no fender badges at all and the same in 2018-2019 no fender badges
@@justin.c_svt Thank you for the information. Helps allot
Thanks for the video man! Im going to test drive a 2001 Bullitt with only 54k miles on it. They want $16k is it work it?
Its hard to know in today's market.
I bought mine with 59k original miles and perfect true blue paint for $9k
Justin how you doing? Question when you wet sanded your bullitt fuel door hardware how did you do it and what grit did you use? Should I put some oil so it doesn't rust again? Thank you awesome video
I think I used 2000 grit. You can always go more aggressive if you don’t like the outcome.
@@justin.c_svt I have some rust on my bolts you think 2000 will be good?
It should help depending on how bad. If not you can try 1000 or 600
Got it thanks!
@@justin.c_svt do you think a 94-98 key fob will fit the internals of a 99-04 I seen one that has a running pony on it but I guess the 94-98 will not work with a 99-04 but I was thinking I can swap over the internals and get that pony
Where is the limited serial number located?
One on the driver side strut tower in the engine bay. The other is under the rear seat on the frame of the car
32:37 am I crazy or does that have a 2000 Cobra R front bumper? Lol
Yes, the drawing did. There was no explanation to that
How did you bypass that coolant hose on the intake manifold to the tee
I got a threaded plug that came off a cylinder head to cap the front part and then I took out the plastic T and replaced it with a single joint to join the 2 rear hoses and eliminated the 1 hose that used it go to the T and used to go to the front of the intake manifold. The line might have also gone to the passenger side valve cover PCV if I remember correctly. It’s been years ago and I have a top mount supercharger on there now and the stock intake manifold is boxed up
@@justin.c_svt ok gotchu, so if you can remember, where the hose that was on the tee that connected to the top of the intake manifold, did you just completely get rid of that one and the one underneath and leave those nipples just open, and just have the hose singular hose go from the intake manifold to pcv valve. I could send pictures to jog the memory would appreciate the help
@@justin.c_svt I’m pretty sure it’s the hose you’re talking about thag was on the tee it connected to the nipple and then there was a hose underneath that connected to another nipple and that hose ran down to the pcv valve, which connected around the pcv valve and went to the front of the intake Manifold where you plugged it, so can that whole hose assembly right there just be deleted and those two hose nipples left exposed, let me know if there’s a way I can get in touch to send a quick picture
Yeah I believe I just got rid of those hoses. You can send pictures to my email xsellr9@yahoo.com. I think the other hose that goes to the PCV is just to help heat up the PCV for emissions?…
Yeah I’m pretty sure you can eliminate the whole thing and just plug any nipple left over
I'm looking at a Bullitt tomorrow 2001
Cool
@@justin.c_svt So whats a good price on a 2001 black Bullitt with 91000 miles its not perfect on the interior but body is very nice he wants 10 k
I like these sn95 bullitt's but always wanted a 08 but reality they're really pricy... never felt like opening my wallet that much for one. also i CRINGE when i see people who change paint on bullitt's and heavily modify the appearance. why would you buy a bullitt and change exterior with modifications!? plz stop people.
