  • Hi guys, do you dread painting spindles? Today I just may put the FUN back into it with the #SlapItON paint technique that I've been using for years!
When I first started painting furniture -- spindles were a nightmare. I hated painting them. Whether they were chair spindles, legs on a piece of furniture or ANY type of rounded piece with any type of detail, I dreaded it. It never turned out smooth. It always looked messy. I always ended up with brush marks.
Well, I'm so excited about today’s makeover and sharing this technique with you. My sister Andrea requested me to do this video.
When she saw me painting spindles on another makeover, she was thoroughly amused and impressed... her words not mine! She said she's NEVER seen anyone do it like this.

This is how I had instinctual started painting my chair spindles. But I felt so ridiculous while doing it, I started googling to see if there was a more "professional" method, and came across your video. Thank you for confirming that I'm actually doing it the right way! LMAO the Slap Method is a great name btw

OMG! I found this video a couple months ago, sort of applied it to table legs - not the greatest idea in that case - but I just finished an old chair and this technique worked AMAZING!!! Makes painting so much fun(a little tiring) but WOW!! Flawless finish if you do it right. Thank you so much for posting this!!!

After much trial and error, that’s exactly how I paint spindles, dowel rods or anything with a round shape. My deck rails have round tubular uprights between the top and bottom rails, and I painted them all that way in a very short time. I never really thought about how weird it would look to someone who was watching! 😂

Just in time for current project. I was so worried about painting the spindles! Did notice a bit of paint missing between some of the ridges, so when you are doing the second coat to you come in with a regular brush stroke to cover the missing paint? Thanks so much for this demonstration!!❤

    • @SalvagedInspirations
