I have 2 Boox devices, the Palma (for on the go) and the Page (strictly for reading at home) and they are both great. The selling point for me was that I could go from having a kindle, nook etc to having one device that would allow me to easily read all of my books. I only have apps installed that relate to reading or audiobooks to ensure that I don't get sidetracked from the main reason I have the devices. If you plan on carrying the Palma around with you, I would definitely recommend the folio case or a protective sleeve for it. The screen is more fragile than a phone screen and I have seen a lot of people who only had the silicone case on it cause damage to their screens from tossing it in a bag or a pocket without that additional protection.
I was wondering if anybody had used both the Palma and either the Poke or Page e-readers Boox sells. I like the idea of having both since the Palma is more portable and, to me, the best one handed form factor (great for when your kitty wants scritches). I have two Kobo e-readers, one for home and one for travel, but I’m switching to Boox (currently own a Note Air 3C) due to the more open ecosystem thanks to Google Play, F-Droid, and other app repositories I can access as a result.
I have the Palma. I bought it for my husband but he never used it, so I took it:) I love that I can get all the reading apps on it! I only have reading apps on it, so there's no distraction. I really want a larger Boox now, because I love the size of the Paperwhite. I think the larger one would be a perfect device!
I have a boox (not this one) and I don’t find the ability to download other apps to be a problem, although it’s a very good processor and everything, it’s still an e ink screen and using regular apps is not “fun” lol. The ability to not be tied into one ecosystem was my reason for getting a boox device and it’s why I keep it even tho I primarily use kobo (which yes does have its own store). I can use kindle, kobo, nook, the built in ereader neoreader ( which also has a quite decent screen reader if you want a book read to you, which I think only the oasis has…?), anything else. Other than iBooks.
I have Onyx Palma and I like it a lot ❤ For me it's amazing that I can switch in Kindle app between ebook and audiobook (of course some Kindles have that feature too but Palma is easier to carry)
I'm surprised nobody came up with something like this before, I have iphone 12 mini and it's by far the most perfect size for reading novels (my hands are pretty tiny), so it's cool not just for portability but general comfort.
What version of Android is the Palma running? One thing that has made me hesitant to get a Boox is that users keep telling me that their Android system is old and never updates. I would hate for the device to become obsolete because the operating system is too elderly.
I bought this device and didn’t take to it,currently in my top drawer not being used,I’ll probably sell the device when I get round to it,not one of my best buys.
yeah same. i sold mine because i still need to use my phone which made me to not use the palma that much. i liked the idea at first but i feel like if you have a kindle already you don’t need a palma
@@yourreadergfI think I’ll always love my kindle best but I don’t want to bring it to work with me. I found myself reading on my phone but bought the Palma for the eink
I am confused.. if you want to read on something that small, use your phone. Or is it you can't control distractions? I use my phone, kindle paperwhite and ipad mini.
E-ink is better for reading in natural light outside. Just for reading, the backlight, wifi and bluetooth can stay completely switched off most of the time, saving on battery. Perfect reading platform for a vacation, e.g. reading on the beach or for reading in camp on multiday hiking trips. These are niche applications, but they exist. E.g. I'm about to go on a 3 week hiking trip without opportunities for charging. I wouldn't want to carry large power banks just to charge my phone when I don't have reception anyways.

Do you use Goodreads on this as well?
I heard that Boox is going to be releasing a Page C device in June which should be a a competitor to the Kindle Oasis. I am very excited about that.
@@CharlieJohnson963I’ve seen a lot of people have good reads

I have the white Palma too. I love having my Nook and Kindle ebooks on one e-ink device. It’s the only e-reader I’ve used since I got it.
I love my Palma. It’s perfect for on-the-go reading.

Hopefully a color e-ink version of this device with Android 14 is coming soon

Hoping to purchase the Palma soon! Thanks for sharing your first impressions.
What does a Hoopla e-book look like on a Boox? Does the book show up in e-ink or look any better than on a tablet?
Hey Dylan! , Thanks for posting this video

Android 11
It can be used as a Walkie Talkie.
Do you have the kobo Color?
Please review how kindle app, libby, google play books running on boox palma
Kindle app works and looks just like it does on the designated kindle device. I have the Palma.

My question is why are these so expensive! Ebook readers as a whole n😢
E Ink Corporation and the inability (or too small market) of a competitors.

I dislike reading for long lengths of time on my phone. I want e ink I can read with one hand. I want the warm light for reading at night.
the point is e-ink. The smaller the better
Oh okay, I was wondering that too. I read on my iPhone in dark mode most of the time.

Some people are addicted to their phones and can’t concentrate on doing what they want to every time they pick it up.
Maybe you should research and get to know a device better before you make a video - lot's of rambling misinformation here !! Big Thumbs down dude.
