I wonder if they will add like a paperwhite 'pro' where they just add the page turn buttons. So many other ereaders have page turn buttons i don't think they will do away with the feature permanently. Interesting to theorize for sure!
I thought page turn buttons were pointless till I got a Voyage and then an Oasis. Now I would hate to lose them. Fortunately my oasis is still working fine so hopefully there will be something out by the time I need a replacement.
@Nikkilodean19 I recently changed my old paperwhite for a reasonably priced oasi(refurbished). It is way better no matter what people say. Ergonomics and build quiality are great and the buttoms are something you think you don't need until you try. The lack of usb C is a nuisance and the battery could be better. But the pros are way more significant imo.
@@Qasibr Nope it's not bad at all, it feels comfortable to the eye, and I could read for long periods without read eye fatigue and feels like paper a lot. It has quite a good censor that adapts the brightness according to your surroundings, and it has warm lighting to ease a night's read. In comparison, my brother has the latest paperwhite and it's very similar. Only drawback is micro usb, if you get yourself a 3-in-1 usb-c cable or something it should be fine for many years to come.
In a perfect world they would make a completely revamped kindle that had page turn buttons with a battery like the paperwhite AND a kindle with color e-ink. That’s what I feel what would be a smart move from Amazon. I agree that a scribe mini would be a smart thing to do. Lots of people want one.
[0:00] 📖 The Kindle Oasis has been officially discontinued by Amazon, with all product listings removed except for the international version. [1:25] 🔄 Given the lack of significant updates to the Oasis since 2017, a revamped version of the Oasis with the same name is unlikely. [3:12] 💡 Speculation arises about the possibility of a new Kindle model, possibly a "scribe mini," to bridge the gap between the Paperwhite and the Scribe.
I love the Scribe, but I wish they would update the software to allow for writing directly on the pages instead of attaching notes. If they release a smaller Scribe to replace the Oasis, they definitely need to strongly consider that functionality. You can already do this with eReaders like the Kobo Elipsa 2E. Attaching notes is really klunky.
I thought when they first released the Scribe that this was a given 🤷🏽♀️ I was extremely surprised that this was not the case 😮 I understand not everyone will want that, but you can have a setting that changes between the two depending on your preference.
I think this would be the perfect upgrade; 7-8”, Oasis shape more so than the PW shape (former is more square like), pen annotating feature on the page…so basically yeah a mini Scribe but with the shape, size and the handle of the Oasis would be perfect 👌🏽
I would love an updated Oasis, but I don’t need 3 kindles! Lol. I use the Oasis for traveling & the Scribe for at home reading. Maybe I should have waited. A mini-Scribe with page turn buttons would be cool. I hope the Oasis being off market doesn’t mean it’ll stop getting software updates.
I love my oasis. I love the size and weight for portability (I take it everywhere with me). The long battery live is great and knowing that if I spill water on it , I just dry it off and keep going. I was hoping for a new version last year and I wish the new one had a "c" charger. I REALLY hope they decide to keep the oasis in the line up. I enjoy it as just a reader ..I don't need another tablet.
I have long since given my Oasis 2 to my daughter when she started to pique her interest to read the Harry Potter series. I intentionally lead her to the Kindle way instead of paper books. For myself, I bought the Paperwhite 2022. It's been fine for me. I don't miss the Oasis too much. Lol. I'm just immensely happy to have my daughter as a reading partner. My wife and son don't like to read.
@@Nikkilodean19 Same here. Mine likes Roblox and Sprocket a bit too much. But he builds a lot of tanks and airplanes there, with actually very good designs.
I have a late version of the Paperwhite and the new basic. I've had the old basic, the last Paperwhite and my son gave me his Oasis. I really just wanted to compare the Oasis and it's clarity before I got a Paperwhite. I have loved the previous Paperwhite and the latest version. I did not love the Oasis. I really don't need buttons. I suppose it's different for each individual. But it seems natural not to use buttons to me since our phone and tablets are swiped when we want to turn the page or go to a new screen. I hope Amazon does not stop making ereaders and it would be nice to see a color version come out.
Oh, I'm shocked, but not really surprised. I'm happy with my basic model so far, but I really wanted to see the upgraded version of Oasis, so what a disappointment. I do hope they come up with a new device with page buttons...
I’ve commented to them about this product and the Scribe both needing to be in color. Who wants to read in black-and-white? Is this the early 1960s? I have magazines in my Kindle account there’s no way I’m gonna read those in black-and-white.
For the past 6 years I have been using a refurbished kindle Voyage. I purchased it so I could have flat screen and page turn buttons but not pay for an Oasis. Still going strong with only a couple glitches here and there. I will not replace until I can get a slightly larger screen, page turns, good lighting and a reasonable price!! Am I expecting too much!!?? Love the videos!!!
I do hope to see something new. The paperwhite is too small to me sometimes, so I find myself reading more on my fire 8 or 10. I'd love an in-between kindle that's a little bigger.
the fact that they no longer have a device with page turn buttons is a big mistake. Considering Kobo, Nook and others have at least an option for one. I love my scribe and use it a lot but I still go back to my Oasis due to the page turn buttons. Kinda upset at this unless they give us a new device with them. They are so handy at times
Im so disappointed! My oasis just stopped working last night, I tried all the troubleshooting online & even spoke to customer service today to no avail. Now to find out I cant even replace it is honestly so upsetting. I really needed the waterproof option because I have small children.
Hi Dylan. In the UK the Oasis is still available in 2 versions. The 32gb wi-fi is no longer available but the 32gb + free mobile connectivity is at £319.99 and the 8gb wi-fi at £229.99.
Hi Dylan. It's good to see you today -- I've missed your updates! I've been an Oasis user since v2, but traded it in for a new Paperwhite about a year ago. I soon missed the Oasis, so I picked up a "gently used" v3 from Unclaimed Baggage and I couldn't be happier. I'm sad to see it go, as I think an improved Oasis (and we all know the first 2 things we'd hope to see: USB-C and a better battery) would be fantastic. As far as your comment about Amazon stepping away from Kindle, my impression is that Kindle eBook sales are growing, so Amazon would be foolish to abandon digital books entirely. The idea of walking away from manufacturing devices may have merit, but it wouldn't be brilliant to turn over the hardware side of the user experience over to a third party. I'd rather see Amazon buy the Onyx Boox platform, improve the reliability and build quality, and clean up the user interface. But I doubt that will happen. Sadly, I don't think that Kindle has a champion on the Amazon executive team, so the platform will probably be treated as a mature product: Not really growing, not really dying.
I think you’re absolutely right! It seems like kindle has gotten pushed to the back burner, but there’s no way they abandon the reader market altogether. I’m interested to see what comes next!
I got my Oasis cheap by doing a Prime day deal on a refurbished model and while im definitely losing out on battery life, one of my favorite features on my old generation Paperwhite, I love the physical page turn buttons and that it adapts to its orientation. I never would have paid full price having already loved my Paperwhite, but I'm still sad they arent updating the Oasis.
I'm glad I have found and watched your video in time, I was able to buy one in our country and did it before they run out of them too. Was lucky to catch the last refurbished one today in the German store
I bought the oasis when my kindle keyboard glitched and Amazon had no fix for it. The oasis was the only model with page turn buttons and that was what I loved about my keyboard model. I do hope the keep at least one model with this feature for when they send a glitch to my oasis and I need a new one. I really think Amazon killed the keyboard because the same thing happened at the same time to mine and my sister’s. I don’t think it was a coincidence lol.
I’ve always wanted an Oasis for the physical page turn buttons (I can’t tell you how often that clicking on the right side has resulted in going back one page or clicking on the left has resulted in going forward one page), but honestly, I don’t remember seeing any other benefit from upgrading to the Oasis from the Paperwhite, and the price jump just hasn’t been justifiable to me for what you get out of upgrading. I did end up upgrading to the signature edition so that I could charge it on my USB-C cords, rather than having to hunt down the device specific cord.
I bought a Scribe on Black Friday 2023 and I really enjoy it, but the size does become problematic if I read for more than half an hour. (Old hands) I have been intrigued by the Boox Palma; basically an e-reader that is the size of a flagship phone but isn't a phone. Maybe Amazon will look at making a Scribe or a Paperwhite that easily fits in one hand. We shall see...
They haven't even launched Kindle Scribe in India. In India Kindle Oasis is available but they removed Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition from the comparison table. Hence Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is officially done in India.
I would LOVE a smaller scribe 😍 do they have a pretty steady launch period every year like iphone? Where they could give us some hints on what they’re working on?
Knowing my luck, because I just bought the newest paperwhite, they're going to come out with something completely new to replace the oasis in like 35 to 45 days. Just outside my return window so I can't justify buying whatever it is they release.
Its the end of the line but the good news is the ones people own are still useable for as long as the batteryband hardware last. Unlike Apple, forcing upgrades through software rendering units useless over time Anazon still works. I had a very old Kindle 2: with Whispernet when itcwas released and it still work up until last year when the battery and power switch gave out. All this time I was able to sync and download books and updates. It was so old it had its own keyboard and text to read feature. Thats why I didn't biy the Oasis since it brought little to the table that I already had with the Kindle 2. Along with my iPad Pro, phone, Paperwhite, Fire Tablet and PC, their was no room for another device.😅
I still have the same Kindle 2 with whisper net. It still works. My Oasis just stopped working last night- the screen is frozen and won't reset after holding down the power button for three minutes per Amazon support. They had no other suggestions to reset it and said I would essentially have to purchase a new one since it's out of warranty. I'm not sure what I'll do to replace it as I like having the waterproof feature, the auto adjust for page rotation, the buttons and the dark mode and amber screen options. @@dylancanread
My ideal Kindle would be Oasis with colour screen and USB-C, but I also guess Scribe Mini is more likely to happen. I think what they should do would be: - Scribe mini design with metal back, - 8" screen - Colour e-ink - Page turn buttons (the huge bezels begs for them) - IP68 resistance I honestly feel this would be a perfect device for so many people. Right now they don't have a single good device in my opinion. Basic lacks warmlight and IP68, Paperwhite is ugly cheap looking toy lacking page-turn buttons and Scribe is gigantic.
And I’ve been reading on it steadily since then. Not heavy. Easy to read on. Bigger screen than iPhone so doesn’t hurt my eyes. I think Amazon should do this.
I hope they do something, my Oasis is becoming increasingly annoying to use, it freezes up, randomly reboots, has issues at times with downloading new books. I would really miss the buttons which is the only thing stopping me from just moving to the paperwhite.
Personally, my favorite is the paperwhite. I've got a sixth gen from 2013 and a 7th gen from 2015. Both are still in use and work great except that the battery drains a bit quickly on the 6th generation I feel, but I haven't sat down and actually tested it. But for over a decade of use I think I got my money's worth out of it. I just bought the newest paperwhite which I should get here within the next couple days and I'm looking forward to the USB C charging and the bigger screen. I tried the scribe but it was just too Darn big and I decided I did not need the actual scribe functionality so I sent that back. I also tried the oasis when it was first released, but I didn't care for the asymmetrical weight distribution and the fact that the only way to switch hands is basically rotate the whole device. I tend to swap hands frequently so having to keep flipping the device was very annoying.
I like the form-factor, weight, screen, that little "groove" in the back, page-turning buttons, build-quality, and water-resistance. I'd love to see a new reader with these features, regardless of what they call it.
The only reason why I'm even looking for a replacement right now, is because the battery is starting to become less than optimal after 3 1/4 years. I did wonder: would it be easy/challenging to replace the battery in the Oasis?
I hope for an upgraded kindle paper white with bigger size, page buttons and in color. I was considering switching to Kobo Libra colour but I have several audio books from Audible that is linked to my Kindle. I hope Amazon comes up with a better Kindle paper white
I like having buttons but I wish the buttons could be programmed to switch functions. I have small hands and the top button is a reach to go forward. Meanwhile I am hanging on to my Voyage as it is nearly perfect and the haptic press page advance is on the bottom. The interface seems more intuitive as well. Bring back the Voyage with a larger screen.
I’m disappointed they discontinued the Oasis. I’d like to see an option in between the Paperwhite Signature and the Scribe. I like the bigger screen and the page turn buttons, but don’t need to take notes. At some point my Oasis will be no more, am hoping Amazon has a good option by then.
Oasis is what convinced me that a Kindle is worth having. I'd rather just read on my phone than buy a paper white. If I need to replace my oasis, I'll definitely be looking at non-Amazon options
Has anyone else been having synch issues with their Oasis? I read on a Paperwhite during the day, and an Oasis at night. Lately the Oasis is not syncing to the furthest page read as it should. Feels like Amazon might have changed something.
Glad I went with the paper white. It’s always sad to see a tec lay to rest. I really hope E-readers never go away! My eyes get tired from reading physical media and sense I switch to a kindle things have improved alot!
I am still so angry I bought the 32 Gb Oasis when it was launched as I wanted to listen to audiobooks. THEN I found out it didn't have a sleep timer!! In their flagship model? WTAF? They still haven't addressed it.
Right before they removed the oasis I was debating on that or the paperwhite. I’m glad I chose the paperwhite solely on the charging port and price point.
I want to buy a kindle but can’t decide between the paperwhite signature edition or the oasis 😖 I love the oasis design, especially the buttons but the rest… Urgh I just can’t decide what to do😖
I have an Oasis and love it. I hope they don’t do a mini Scribe. Amazon would do better to just bring out a color Kindle. Sales would be through the roof.
This's what pocketbook did with its Era, however, colour readers are known for poor contrast in terms of just black&white picture and are to be always used with the light on to overcome that matter.
I don’t know why they’re doing this. I’ve used the Paperwhite and Scribe and I really don’t care for either of them but the Oasis was so amazing. They just needed to update it 😭
I can't understand why they would discontinue the Oasis. I love mine. I could use a new cover for my Oasis, but since mine is an 8th generation, I cannot find a replacement cover. Why is it that when they have a good thing going, they do away with it? Makes no sense.
Awww I'm pretty bummed about this! I love my Oasis but sadly the battery life on it is abysmal at this point. I'm hoping your theory about a Scribe mini is correct because the size of the original is just too much especially for someone who likes to read in bed. Although I'm sad about no more new models of Oasis, I'm excited to see what's in store in the future.
Well they took mine with it cause it just stopped working. I only had it for a year 😭 It stopped connecting to wifi . I manually updated it and it didn't work so I factory reset and now it's stuck on it because it won't connect to wifi or Bluetooth.
My Oasis has been my favorite e-reader and I will hold on to mine until it works no more. I feel like this is a poor choice for Amazon to have made to discontinue the Oasis.
I am really sad to see the Oasis go. It seems like every time they are super close to perfecting a reader they just discontinue it. I'd be interested in a Scribe mini but tbh I don't think Amazon will do one. Kobo is looking to be the best in ereaders I think.
I have a Kobo Libra II. It has page turn buttons, and the interface and menus are so good that when Amazon updated their paperwhite software, they installed a similar looking menu.
literally all major ereader producers’ flagship product is a clone of the Oasis. I don’t think Amazon will abandon the physical buttons. Fingers crossed
A middle size between the scribe and paper white, that has a spot for built in stylist, with ability to have a day planner. EReader, NoteBook, Planner in one with an Amazon planner app (which they would link to their store to offer party supplies for birthdays and other things because it’s Amazon) The stylist could have page turn buttons so they have the buttons when it’s attached but also a remote page turn for people that use iPad holders to read in bed Thats just what I would look into if I was Amazon, but personally paperwhite is perfect for me and the extras on the signature are pointless, I don’t like the buttons and I want small size. Like wireless charge my device that I plug in for 5 min once a month? Pointless
mmhh...this video has already 5 month, and nothing, I have the oasis and wanted a new updated one, (usb c). Well, let's see if for maybe this Christmas something new will come, maybe a colored one...
I love my Paperwhite and never would've sprung for an Oasis, mostly due to price and the fact that it looked too bulky. I didn't much mind that they got rid of the Oasis.
Did the 2017 Oasis also have the warmth light? So the 2017 and 2019 model has absolutely no difference in terms of features? Why do we bother calling it 10th gen or 2019 model we should just call it 9th gen 2017 model 🙄
I love my Oasis. I think they’ll make decisions only focused on the bottom line. I know nothing about it, it’s only what I assume their ultimate priority always is. 💰
Good decision! Oasis was garbage! These stupid buttons, a crappy battery... all in all a good decision to crush this garbage. Paperwhite is clearly the better product! 100%
I have the latest gen paperwhite and I have to say I prefer the oasis. I prefer the buttons. Not as good as the voyage. That’s probably my favourite kindle of all time but the oasis is definitely top 3.
I wonder if they will add like a paperwhite 'pro' where they just add the page turn buttons. So many other ereaders have page turn buttons i don't think they will do away with the feature permanently. Interesting to theorize for sure!
That’s a genius idea! 100% could see a paperwhite pro type of device being released in the near future!
Paperwhites with page turning buttons would be amazing

Unlike Apple, forcing upgrades through software rendering units useless over time Anazon still works.
I had a very old Kindle 2: with Whispernet when itcwas released and it still work up until last year when the battery and power switch gave out. All this time I was able to sync and download books and updates. It was so old it had its own keyboard and text to read feature.
Thats why I didn't biy the Oasis since it brought little to the table that I already had with the Kindle 2.
Along with my iPad Pro, phone, Paperwhite, Fire Tablet and PC, their was no room for another device.😅
Great point!
And I can totally relate! Haha
I think what they should do would be:
- Scribe mini design with metal back,
- 8" screen
- Colour e-ink
- Page turn buttons (the huge bezels begs for them)
- IP68 resistance
I honestly feel this would be a perfect device for so many people.
I don't trust them to do anything intelligent with the oasis or scribe. I feel like the kindle product lead is an idiot.
You can switch the bottom button to move the page forward under settings. I also have small hands so doing this was perfect.
A scrib and oasis mash up would be great. I love my oasis, it would be nice to select color or black and white but overall I love this product.
The weight distribution of the Oasis, to one side, makes it more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time. The ergonomics can’t be overlooked.
I hear there are some really good non-Amazon alternatives like Kobo and Boox.
Kobo Libra 2 has been a contender for the oasis. Keep an eye on that when that time might arise.
This seems like push to reduce the options and eventually they will introduce a color ereader for something inbetween paper and scribe
I could definitely see that!
I really want a coloured kindle
Has anyone else been having synch issues with their Oasis? I read on a Paperwhite during the day, and an Oasis at night. Lately the Oasis is not syncing to the furthest page read as it should. Feels like Amazon might have changed something.
Glad I went with the paper white. It’s always sad to see a tec lay to rest. I really hope E-readers never go away! My eyes get tired from reading physical media and sense I switch to a kindle things have improved alot!
It’s still for sale new in Canada at full price, which is interesting…
I am still so angry I bought the 32 Gb Oasis when it was launched as I wanted to listen to audiobooks.
THEN I found out it didn't have a sleep timer!! In their flagship model? WTAF?
They still haven't addressed it.
Right before they removed the oasis I was debating on that or the paperwhite. I’m glad I chose the paperwhite solely on the charging port and price point.
I think the paperwhite is the way to go! Can’t beat the price for the features you get
I want to buy a kindle but can’t decide between the paperwhite signature edition or the oasis 😖 I love the oasis design, especially the buttons but the rest… Urgh I just can’t decide what to do😖
I have an Oasis and love it. I hope they don’t do a mini Scribe. Amazon would do better to just bring out a color Kindle. Sales would be through the roof.
I want a color Oasis with USB-C. No other changes.
I think not a smaller version of the Scribe - but more like the Oasis with color (with page-turn buttons, of course).
They just needed to update it 😭
Besides battery length and ISBC I thought the Oasis was the perfect ereader. I guess that would be a refresh but everything else is just perfect.
I can't understand why they would discontinue the Oasis. I love mine. I could use a new cover for my Oasis, but since mine is an 8th generation, I cannot find a replacement cover. Why is it that when they have a good thing going, they do away with it? Makes no sense.
Not happy to see the Oasis go! What else would be good to use?
Amazon is the new Google cancelling products. I was about to buy a Kindle and was wondering what happened to 5he Oasis. Ugh.
I feel the same way! The scribe is just too much sometimes, a mini would be perfect.
I’m so sad they discontinued the Oasis in the US. I LOVE mine so much. ☮️
I am really sad to see the Oasis go. It seems like every time they are super close to perfecting a reader they just discontinue it. I'd be interested in a Scribe mini but tbh I don't think Amazon will do one. Kobo is looking to be the best in ereaders I think.
Their going to release a kindle Oasis Color!!!!
Whatever. Can we PLEASE get an alternative to Kindle, period? The entire ebook universe needs to be divested, STAT.
You should try Kobo
I have a Kobo Libra II. It has page turn buttons, and the interface and menus are so good that when Amazon updated their paperwhite software, they installed a similar looking menu.
Hi, can you do a review about supernote a6x 2 and/or reMarkable 2?
I love my Oasis but the battery life after 5 years is very bad. I can read only one book and the battery is down. 😢
my oasis is my baby. i hope it returns under a different guise. :/
I wish my Kindle Voyage still worked. Not a fan of the Kindle Paperwhite (11th Generation), which I'm now using.
Sorry, nothing to do with your video. But have you checked out the Boox Palma yet? Seems like an e-ink android tablet..? would love a review about it.
literally all major ereader producers’ flagship product is a clone of the Oasis. I don’t think Amazon will abandon the physical buttons. Fingers crossed
A middle size between the scribe and paper white, that has a spot for built in stylist, with ability to have a day planner. EReader, NoteBook, Planner in one with an Amazon planner app (which they would link to their store to offer party supplies for birthdays and other things because it’s Amazon)
The stylist could have page turn buttons so they have the buttons when it’s attached but also a remote page turn for people that use iPad holders to read in bed
Thats just what I would look into if I was Amazon, but personally paperwhite is perfect for me and the extras on the signature are pointless, I don’t like the buttons and I want small size. Like wireless charge my device that I plug in for 5 min once a month? Pointless
ive always wanted one
mmhh...this video has already 5 month, and nothing, I have the oasis and wanted a new updated one, (usb c). Well, let's see if for maybe this Christmas something new will come, maybe a colored one...
man I am so sick and tired of this forced obsolesces on products that are too good.
I am disappointed. I wanted to,purchase one when they updated it.
Their going to release a kindle Oasis Color!!!!
I love my oasis
I love my Paperwhite and never would've sprung for an Oasis, mostly due to price and the fact that it looked too bulky. I didn't much mind that they got rid of the Oasis.
whaaaaat????? I LOOOOVE my kindle Oasis. Oh man.... this is so sad. They better come up with something good and better
This sucks. My gf wants a kindle I was recommending an Oasis because I love mine but now that's not an option
Did the 2017 Oasis also have the warmth light? So the 2017 and 2019 model has absolutely no difference in terms of features? Why do we bother calling it 10th gen or 2019 model we should just call it 9th gen 2017 model 🙄
Maybe... a Color Oasis?
The Kindle Oasis.. NO!!!!!!!😥
I know!! 😔
To be truthful I think you could take 10 of us and come up with a better Kindle than what they just came out with. No more Oasis. How dumb.
But they didn't give us anything i want. I'll use my Oasis till the bitter end and go to a different company most likely.
I just bought the last used one off Amazon lol
What a score!!
Good video. It’s nice to see you back!
Just bought an oasis off of eBay today lol
I believe we will have Voyage 2)))
I just want color. That’s all I ask
I love my Oasis. I think they’ll make decisions only focused on the bottom line. I know nothing about it, it’s only what I assume their ultimate priority always is. 💰
😢😢😢
time to move on to other e-readers 😄
Good decision! Oasis was garbage! These stupid buttons, a crappy battery... all in all a good decision to crush this garbage. Paperwhite is clearly the better product! 100%
I have the latest gen paperwhite and I have to say I prefer the oasis. I prefer the buttons. Not as good as the voyage. That’s probably my favourite kindle of all time but the oasis is definitely top 3.
I love my oasis. Battery is trash but I prefer the buttons and shape.
Next will be color?🤔
I love my oasis
