    I have been a die hard kindle fan since my first kindle almost 8 years ago. I have recently been looking at kobo mostly because of the power button placement honestly. I almost pulled the trigger last week and I’m so happy that I didn’t. I think I will get the color kobo. Thank you for putting this video out quickly! I’m looking forward to your full review

    I converted from Kindle to Kobo a few years ago and I never looked back. My Kobo’s battery has been dying (charge doesn’t last long anymore), and I’ve been waiting for these year’s models to be announced. When I got the text message this morning, I went YES!!! But I went for the Libra Colour. Can’t wait to get it at the end of this month!!!!

    • @mohda.9420

      And which model did you have?

    • @Deadkandy
      @Deadkandy 6 месяцев назад

      @@mohda.9420 I have the Kobo Aura One. I’ve had it since it came out in 2013. It still works, but the battery will last about 4-5 days at most if I read every day. And 2 weeks in full standby mode if I don’t touch it at all for that duration. I still love it though. Like I said, I was waiting for new models to upgrade as I much prefer Kobo to Kindle, but I have 2 paperwhites at home, too :)

    I have been using Kindle for over seven years now. But after seeing Kobo doing this e-color ink display and Amazon still has not got on board with that, I pre-ordered my Kobo Clara Colour so fast. For $149 I think it’s a steal I cannot wait for it to come in the mail and try it out. I also got that case but in the “Candy Pink”. I’m also excited to now try reading manga on the Colour display.

    I love the shift and recognition the Kobo is getting with all of its functions it has to offer compared to other e-readers, most notably Kindle. I fully support gearing away from Amazon for completely different reasons so seeing this makes it definitely easier to purchase the Kobo rather the Kindle. Cant wait for the reviews! Earned a new sub☺️

  • @YuryKhristich
    @YuryKhristich 6 месяцев назад +4

    Usually the bright yellow color was a problem on the color e-ink displays. It would be nice if you show how the bright yellow color looks on this device. And the speed of redrawing of course. Some readers even have two modes: black/white mode and color mode. Because of the drastic difference of the redrawing speed and the quality between color and monochromatic image.

    I can’t wait till Amazon comes out with their color e-reader!!! I won’t get a Kobo just because I don’t have a Kobo account. I’m already well established with my Amazon account and I use Kindle Unlimited. So hopefully Amazon gets on the ball and we get a color e-ink reader soon!!!!

    You can just sideload a bunch of files it reads if you want you don't have to have Kobo account. Also it's got Libby through overdrive you just have to sign into your account. Kobo runs on Linux. I'm so happy they jumped on the color bandwagon.

      Do you think you could run a Kindle or Audible App? I didn't see any expandable storage integration on any of these two. If it lacks it, it is not a big deal but so many like the ability to use their Kindle/Audible apps.

    I'm interested in a colour Kobo. I have the Libra 2 (not colour) with the page turn buttons. If a colour version of that comes out, I'd consider it.
    I have the cover for it as well. Sometimes it does not turn the reader off when closed. A few times I've found my reader has no battery power when I want to use it. It happened enough that I now turn it off completely using the power button. It takes about 45 seconds to start up again, but I'd rather that than arrive at my motel (for work travelling) and find my reader is now dead. An unexpected bonus of shutting it off each time is that the battery life is amazing. I'll read 6-10 books without having to recharge.

    First review of the new Kobos. Thanks so much. The only question those of us who have been waiting for Kindle and Kobo for myself is a comparison of the colours with a tablet. With the screen being only 150 ppi on the colour, how washed out is the palette? As you have not reviewed a Kobo before you won't be able to compare the sharpness of the black and white pages with the older models, so I'll wait for somebody else for that one.

    Is reading normal books ( i.e. with black and white contrast) on this version as comfy as reading them on the normal version of these devices? I like these colors, they’re so aesthetic, but are they worthy? Is this new version useful just for comics or is it worthy also for books? I’d like to buy a new e-reader and I was oriented on the Kindle basic, but that was before I was captured by these pastel colors. Now I’m just confused 😂

    I sometimes download books of other sites onto my Kobo app on my phone. I have the old Kobo Glo and while I can get those same book on my Kobo by taking the memory card out and loading the books on that way, my progress doesn't update between my phone and e-reader so when I read on one I have to manually update my progress on the other. Do you know if the new Kobo will automatically update my progress on books not purchase through Kobo?

    Oh, this does look nice. I've loved kobo since I got mine (much prefer it over my kid's kindle for a host of reasons), and am excited for a color option.
    My biggest question is about an odd (and I hope incorrect) report I saw on techradar that the dark mode from the B/W Claras and Libres has been removed.
    Are you able to verify whether we still have a dark mode? It's not in the most obvious place (lighting settings), so I'm hoping that they just overlooked it. It *should* be either (from the home page) under More>Settings>Reading Settings>Page Appearance, or (from in-book) under Settings>Page Appearance.
    Thanks, and looking forward to the full review!

    Amazon needs to hurry up with a new kindle. The scribe wasnt it. At this point, the only thing holding me back from switching is KU. Ive been following authors for so many years and a lot of their books are exclusive to Amazon. They know theyre ecosystem is whats retaining so many customers.

    • @dansmith3085
      @dansmith3085 6 месяцев назад

      Not on Kobos, but it would probably work on Boox devices which run on android. However, those can be expensive enough that you would be better off buying a dedicated Android tablet - or a used Ipad - just for comics. You can get it to run on Fire tablets with a little tinkering.

      I read Marvel Unlimited and DC Infinite all the time on my Onyx Boox Nova 3 Color and my Bigme Inknote, the apps work great 😁. Both devices that I own are the now outdated Kaleido 2 screens which I think look great for colour. You'd now be looking at a Boox Tab Mini C or possibly a Boox Note Air 3C if you're interested in reading comics on an Eink screen 😁

  • @Irnbruist
    @Irnbruist 6 месяцев назад +1

    what 90% of people don‘t realize; the contrast will be much worse on this new color model compared to the old b/w device. So if you mostly read epups and not comics/mangas you should NOT get this new color model!
