Awesome job man. I just ordered mine and can not wait to see your review! I am also a big Kindle guy and moving to Kobo I am curious how the battery life compares.
Great video! Can you please explain how to send kindle books to it? I have 500 kindle books and just pulled the trigger on this so please tell me it won’t be too hard 😅
Hello, thanks for the first impressions. I would like to ask, when you make a notes while reading, what happens when you change a font size? And also can I doodle everywhere in the book page? thanks a lot 🙌🏻
I've loved my K Libra H2O, 1st gen but the processor is old (so, slow) and it doesn't support audiobooks. 1. Does it display colour in imported PDFs? (I store device manuals on mine) 2. Is the stylus only for marking up books (highlights, notes) or can you create a written document on it? I assume it isn't robust enough to convert written script to text.
There are a couple of styles of cases that Kobo sells and it is common to order the wrong one if you want the case that has a slot to hold the possibly overpriced pencil with the case closed. The description of the SleepCover case that holds the pencil will have the word “notebook” in the name. The other case does not have a pencil slot. Thanks for another wonderful video.
Thanks for the first look! Was about to buy the Kobo Libra 2 today and found out this was getting released! for only €30 extra the colour seems like a nice deal and worth the wait.
i was also going to buy a libra 2 because my libra h2o is getting old now. I had my idea that a new one was getting released because they usually announce new models in this time of the year. im glad i was patient, this does seem like a good deal.
@@io.nebulae I'm upgrading from a 11+ year old kobo glo so i'm sure it will be a great improvement hahah! Also great for light novels/manga/webtoons etc which isn't a big part of what i read but still enough to buy the colour over the libra2!
I didn't get it *just* for color. I know its limitations. I find it kinda neat. No. Going from the H20 and being able to use audio books, jumping up from 8gb to 32gb and a 2ghz cpu and a stylus. Yeah. That seems a solid enough deal to me.
OMG this looks so cool. Never had a Kobo, only kindles. Really interested in one. Love the look and turn page buttins. Can't wait for your review. Thanks. X
I much prefer my Kobo Libra to my Kindle Paperwhite. It’s for sure the buttons but also the night time light and tone adjustments are better. I also prefer the discovery section where you buy or borrow books. Just seems friendlier in my opinion. I’m definitely going to have to get this upgraded version!
Hmm, now I need to decide to go with Clara Color or Libra Color. Already have the Clara, so maybe time to try a larger size. Buttons should be nice too.
Theres an easy to read chart on their website that lets you compare the models. It looks like the only difference is the colour obviously, the Libra Colour also has integrated Google drive/dropbox storage and works with the stylus. It's also made with recycled plastic while the Libra 2 isn't.
I have been interested awhile in the Kobo line. I love the idea of being able to get books from the library directly on the ereader. My son is not familiar with Kobo, but he said in the past he'd get another ereader if it was in color (he's gone back to reading books in hard back/paper form). I would love to get him one for birthday or Christmas. I am excited for you!
I’ve been rocking a Kobo Aura One for years and I love it. These new readers look great but my preferences learn towards a flush bezel (easier to clean the screen), and no page buttons because I think it is far better to just swipe. Also having become accustomed to 8” I don’t really want any smaller.
Thanks for the preview, I knew these devices were coming but didn’t expect it so soon. No one else has a video out yet about them so you’re special 😂 I’ve never had a kobo myself, I’ve had all the readers BUT kobo. I preordered one of these last night for my 6 year old daughter though. I’m hoping she gets more excited to read with the color. As it is now she only likes to read at bedtime (likely to try to stay up later). She likes to write and draw on my Scribe so this has to be a winner for her.
@@DistinctlyMeFilms I didn't know that, thank you. Most Manga by default is b/w, except for the covers in print editions, so b/w is *_near_* perfect for Manga.
When you are reading in black and white and using colors to highlight text, does it affect the resolution of the text? Is it still at 300 dpi or does it drop to 150 dpi?
Can I be a little jealous? I have been a Kobo user for 10 years, I'm now using a Kobo Libra First version and see this new marvel gifted to someone who doesn't know Kobo that much. I sincerely hope you will enjoy your new ereader as much as I enjoy mine. I'm interested in how to use the stylus, by the way, which is one of the few improvements from my Libra first edition and of course how the colour screen is. Thanks very much.
When will you release a full review of the Libra color? Especially 1) how's the night reading color compare to previous Kobos 2) How is the note-taking experience, with colors? Thanks :)
i have a boox note air 3 c and not so hapy with the "darkness" of the screen compared to my old kobo forma, hope this kobo have less gray screen compared to boox
I would love to see the pen at work with the Advanced Notebook component. I write as much as read. Currently using Nobo app on Surface. Nobo is great, but Suface is power hungry. Interested to know if you think a matte screen saver impacts readability while improving paper feel. (It doesn't on Surface but brightness there sucks power.)
I really want to upgrade my Libra H2O (4 years old, will go to my husband) to a Libra colour! My biggest questions is: does the pen magnetize te the device itself or do you need the (bland) case that's for the Libra color + stylus. I really want a yellow sleepcover and the stylus but am unsure how I would keep my stylus and my Kobo together. Looking forward to your review!
Hy! Can you help, how can you make collections? I have too many books, but its too hard to do it on the kobo, is there is a way to create folders or something when Im connecting my kobo to my computer ?
i just got the Libra Colour but i am struggling with transferring my kindle ebooks from my iphone to the kobo using calibre. This is my first time using an ereader so this is quite overwhelming. If I understand correctly, you can only transfer the kindle ebooks if you previously had a Kindle device, but not with the Kindle App on your phone :(
I need a full review on the taking notes with the stylus part! Is it good? How many features there is? Would it be good for sketching? How responsive? Does it detect pressure? I have so many questions!
I can see Amazon doing something very similar soon now that Kobo has done it. I have bought so many Kindle books that I'm going to have to stay with Kindles. I know there is a way to move Kindle books onto a Kobo, but it sounds like something of a procedure. If Amazon comes out with something similar, I may purchase. I didn't know Anne of Green Gables came as a graphic novel... thanks for the heads up! :)
I’m a kindle girly through and through and I’m afraid to switch since I own sooooooo many kindle books and from what I heard you cannot transfer them and if you can it sounds complicated. Maybe you can research that and let us know how that may work.
What is the brightness of backlight in this review? it seem in maximum that makes a bit misleading to the color shown. the actual one is a bit "dull" and not so "fresh" as the principle of color e-ink.
I just ordered this model. do I have Kobo any books or anything related to it?? NOPE. but do I want a smaller ereader with a stylus and in color? also yes! I will slowly transition some books over to kobo as I read. I have a thousand or more kindle ebooks. but I usually only buy free or on sale books anyway so that will work for me.
Haha I'm in the same boat! I love the combination of a smaller device that also has a stylus! I own a Scribe and enjoy it, but it's way too bulky for every day use so I love the compactness of the Libra! And color is a huge bonus!
It's a little thicker on the page turn button side, but I don't think the grip is as pronounced as it is on the Oasis. It is very comfortable in the hand though and seems to be lighter than the Oasis!
I heard it has audiobooks with it, can you show us more about that feature? Can we listen and read simultaneously bc that would be dream as someone who uses audiobooks frequently while I read to focus better!
Can you upload epub documents on it? I have the kobo libra h20 and I often upload epub documents on it from my computer. Is that also possible with this one?

None, Manga is b/w also, however, if you also enjoy reading graphic novels and/or comics colour would be useful, or for highlighting textbooks.
