the darker screen is not just you! the kobo colour does appear to have a darker/less contrasted screen because of the extra colour filter layer it has (think of it as an extra matte layer on top of the black and white screen layer). unfortunately that's an inherent consequence of current colour e-ink technology :/ in fact, if you were to compare the kobo colour with the non-colour kobo devices, it's also much darker. because of this, several people have also said that they have to turn their brightness up significantly higher than they would with their regular black and white ereaders. and that could be why your battery is draining quicker than expected it's the one thing about the kobo colour making me that's stopping me from upgrading from my older non-colour kobo 🥲 great review!!
Can I just tell you, you literally saved my life with that method you shared in your description box!! I was losing hope on my kindle and I finally know how to convert files in a blink of an eye!!! Thank you thank you thank you!
I like that it’s the same size as the Kindle basic, and the textured back makes it easier to hold without a case. I ended up returning mine, but I look forward to seeing where the tech goes.
Re: Libby: it may depend on the book itself. Some books you borrow that are not in Kobo's book store may not appear. It may be a way of only getting the reader to get library books for the reader then to later buy.
The Kobo colour has the normal e-ink display that's also used by Kindle but then it's got a colour layer over the black and white which gives a more newspaper/slightly darker hue to the white page. So basically it's two screens overlaid, black and white then color over top. Hopefully some day they're be able to make this as one e-ink screen to avoid the layers but to my knowledge the technology for that isn't there yet so it's a trade off. Would love to know if you find you have more eyestrain than with the Kindle? Thank you!
Thank you for all the info, it really does make sense that it's darker bc of the two layers! Honestly I find the experience the same and don't find that I strain my eyes more with one or the other!
You reviewing an ereader while your bf is playing League of Legends in the background... The perfect couple lol.
I let him play and he let's me read, power couple, might I say 🥸🥸
having graphic novels in colour is actually such a game changer
IT IS!! I cannot believe I read the entire tea dragon society in b&w without knowing 💀
@@nightly.chapter that’s actually the saddest thing I’ve ever heard lmaooo😭😭😭😭

I’ve always been a Kobo girl and I recently got my Kobo Libra colour and I love it.
I've seen some reviews of the libra colour and it looks so cool!!

Exactly!! On my kindle I'm okay during the day with the brightness at like 25ish but on kobo colour it's at 90-100 😭😭😭

For kindle you can also search "send to kindle" and do it on the amazon website! ✨
I can't keep my eyes off the screen in the back of the league gaming
It really distracted me while I was editing 😂😂

This was so helpful! I would so get it if I didn’t already spend money on a bunch of ebooks through Amazon 😭😭
Oh noooo, at least you got some new books to read 🥹🥹

The black and white version is brighter and has better readability, won't upgrade. Great video though, keep going
This or Kindle Paperwhite?
Honestly I've been using this one more now but the kindle is v useful bc of libby and it has a brighter screen
This is great! Happy to subscribe to a fellow INFJ-T 😅
