Terrific pickup. I have a range of soundhole pickups (Sunrise, Rare Earth Single Coil/Humbucker/Blend, Tri-Ax, MagMic) and I think this is my favourite of them all. I use it in my '41 Reissue Gibson SJ100 and it really sings. I'm always riding the mic blend live, winding it up for percussive stuff for looping, dialling it back for general use (25% is the sweet spot for me), and dialling it out for overdriven tones and to fire off effects such as octave shifting and harmony tracking for vocals etc. Amazingly versatile and adaptable, a real one-stop-shop pickup for everything the modern guitarist needs. Love it.
I just put an LR Baggs anthem into my Martin HD 28. For whatever reason it sounded horrible and completely unusable. Why? But I just ordered my Seymour Duncan mag mic. I get it next Friday and I couldn't be more excited, and nervous at the same time. If it sounds half as good as this guy's guitar on this video I will be happy. Then I watch a video with Luca Stricagnoli and it looks like that's what he used on his guitars also. I'm like damn I'm in.
How did you find the magmic in the end? Ive got an anthem and it has affected my acoustic tone. So thinking I’ll go for the magmic and make it removable.
This is the video that has made me go for the MagMic... I have a hand-built custom acoustic but my sound is very much more processed and less veering to the pure acoustic tone. I'll add delays, reverbs and no doubt a little overdrive now and again to thicken things up a little!
Great video! I've buyed this pickup few months ago. Now I'd like to use with an important amount of mic signal but I'd like to moderate harshness. How can I resolve that? Do you recommend to use some preamp with control on the presence for example? Anyone else is looking for a similar solution?
Sounded great! Was nice to hear the overdriven tone, was looking to add some grit to my tone during my acoustic set and it seems the mag pickup, together with say a light overdrive pedal should get the job done nicely! Thanks guys.
Will this pickup work for a 12-string or are the magnets only good for a 6-string? I am looking for a replacement for a soundhole pickup for my dad's Martin 12-string. He bought the pickup when he bought the guitar back in the 70's and lately has been breaking down. I have only seen soundhole pickup demos with 6-strings.
I have one installed in an Ovation acoustic/electric 12-string from the 70's. For some reason the electronics in the guitar sounded really bad. The original combination volume-tone knob was also defective. This pickup gives it a new life. It works fine on the 12-string. I'm considering buying another for my 6-string Ovation Legend.
If you don't install it permanently, letting the cable out of the soundhole, you can easily move it from one guitar to another in a few seconds (of course, a screwdriver is needed).
I'm considering purchase the Mag Mic, but i drum a lot on the body of the guitar and was wondering whether this pickup was able to pick up those sounds well?
I have found this to be the most versatile acoustic pickup I’ve ever used.. You never get a perfect acoustic sound from a pickup, but this is as close as you can get. Combined with Martin monel nickel strings, you can go total mag pickup and get a great hollow body jazz sound as well. No need for one of those Taylor crossover guitars . I’m a died in the wool Baggs guy. Love their pickups. Still use their DI preamp. When I discovered this I didn’t think Baggs was bad but I found this to be a little better .

I'm about to buy this for my favorite acoustic but am interested in the fact that he said you could easily move it around. How ?

I this the pickup which I should buy
Hi there, great tone. Is it possible to have separated outputs? Magnetic on one channel and mic on a separate channel?
The mic and the magnetic pickup are internally mixed, and you get a mono blend of them, only.
I'm considering purchase the Mag Mic, but i drum a lot on the body of the guitar and was wondering whether this pickup was able to pick up those sounds well?
The 'Mic' part of the Mag Mic can pick those sounds up really well.
***** Ok thank you so much. Got yourself a customer.
littlehouseonthepreposterous it does real good
