Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos I will be cruising around the capital.. it will be my very first Christmas/New Years with my family down there 🙂 Glad you guys made it first !
We have it here in the U.S but in my opinion it doesn't taste as good as the inca cola sold in Peru. Last time I was in Peru was August of 1995 and I still remember how good the inca cola was and how disappointed I was when I tasted here in the U.S.
Hay muchas frutas peruanas netamente como: La lucuma, La chirimoya, El Paacae, EL caimito, El Capulie , Sapote y muchos mas, pero esos sin suuper ricos.
Inca Cola is made of Yerba Luisa which is a kind of aromatic herb, I advise you to try icy cold Inca Cola. For us Peruvian people Inca Cola is considered the beverage of national flavor that goes well with all kind of Peruvian food
That is a good place to start and I would also recommend cevicherias - basically restaurants specializing in the dish. You'll want to have it for lunch so it is most fresh.
I love the amount of respect you have for all the places you visit. You are willing to learn & explore and are genuinely so excited about it, it’s contagious. You guys are awesome!
Sam, I m with you on this one..MORE SUPERMARKET TOURS. I love exploring supermarkets wherever I go, so much fun. Plus anytime you go travelling, the supermarket is one of your best money savers.EVER!!
Thank you! We'll make more of these in the future. Totally agree with you about that! If you buy groceries instead of eating out all of the time you can save a lot over time.
Tejas look so good! I've never even heard of it before. Super sweet and super delicious looking. It's cool to see what average supermarkets around the world carry. Thank you for another amazing video! And I wish America had good papayas. I know Singapore has amazing papayas, but the ones sold in America taste horrible!
Me and my family love to go to groceries when we go to other countries! I love your videos soooooo much! My parents are thinking what country our next trip will be in and we were thinking Japan again but I will suggest Peru since we haven’t been there ! I wanted Japan because it’s my favourite country, I’ve been there so many times but now I really really want Peru!
Hi guys: The two of you make us smile and laugh so much. We love your enthusiasm for travel and life in general. We are going to Lima next March on a Trans South American cruise starting in Buenos Aries so your videos are so helpful. Cheers, Keith & Karen (Barrie, Ontario)
Hello Audrey and Sam. You guys are phenomenal. Your videos are so good, informative, entertaining and makes one feel good about the world. Can't thank you enough for all your efforts. God knows I don't have the patience to do what you guys do :). Anyways, you guys have inspired my wife and I so much, that we are leaving on a 10 day trip to Peru :) starting Dec 18th. Starting at Lima, we go to Cusco and sacred valley, Machu pIchu and the best if all, Refugio Amazonas forest resort ( I can hear the mosuitoes slurping aaaah come, come to papa. Me hungry Me hungry). Any tips other than what you guys have put out in the vdos will be great (only if any) especially for the forest resort visit (3 nights living like Mowgli aaaaaah :) ). Thanks guys ! Cheers!!
i've been watching your vids for years now, i enjoy seeing you guys travel because i only get to travel every few years! BUT i'm going to peru in 2 weeks so the timing of your trip is perfect for me, thanks for the great advice as always!! :)
Thank you soooo mucho for doing a this!!! It´s not very common so I appreciate it a lot. And thank you very much for such a long video. You both are such an amazing couple. By the way, Audrey, your Spanish accent is so cute. Your pronunciation is really-really good. Kisses from Buenos Aires.
I love Wongs. So much. I used to live two blocks away. The ceviche there is good. But for the same price you could have gone to my favorite menu al día I suggested to you earlier and had a whole meal. Aventura Marinas. Also check lucuma pudding. Vivando down the street sells everything at discount at night. They have yum foods and deserts.
Inkakola, try the glass bottle version. It is much delicious than the plastic one. BTW, that ceviche should have been eaten immediately after preparation. Enjoy.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos We'd love ro. We had the best time. There are so many other cool places to discover though. You guys should film a trip to Rainbow Mountain. It's awesome!
I think that lime green yellow fruit is star fruit. Cut it across and it makes a star shape. I've been looking for some for a while. Those pecan chocolate things look nice. I would want to try everything in there
In the US people are using Valerian plant as calmant. There's an organic peruvian brand of teas, recently got in market. It is ''Sunka'', I recommend the Sueño Profundo box. It contains Valerian mixed with other plants too. I've given to a couple of friends in the US and they liked it. Another box of infusion of same brand is of Coca leaf (not cocoa but coca). Wong is only a small supermarket in PERU. The biggest supermarket in Peru is PLAZA VEA. Peruvians families like to buy in this supermarket because this has many traditional products about the culture inca . also in PLAZA VEA has the low prices in contrast with other small supermarkest. Samuel and Audrey have to visit PLAZA VEA.
Love your supermarket and Price sharing videos. I was just curious, this supermarket seemed a bit higher market, is it? I just started watching this section of videos but I love to see and compare prices from both ends. FYI I have never been to Peru so I am not sure what is cheap and what is not .
Thanks Edgar. We'll try to make more like this. Indeed, this is a more high-end store and also located in one of the more expensive areas of Lima. You could find cheaper prices outside of Miraflores.
Deberian hacer un video comiendo todos los tipos de papa que se encuentran en Perú They should make a video eating all the types of potatoes found in Peru
90% of peruvian products or food are organics, and don't forget the ancient peruvian super foods that conquered the world like quinua, kiwicha, cañihua, maca, camu camu, guanabana, aguaymanto, chirimoya, etc.
chocotejas are my favorite!!! I've never noticed them at Wong! Thank you!!! They have a little chocolate marzipan "roof" thus the name chocotejas. funny story, my husband brought some back to US for a friend (who paid for them) and he put them in our fridge and I ate most of them. Lesson, in when in Peru and you bring back something for somebody else, bring some for yourself too! One of your best videos! Love you guys!!!!
Inka Kola is usually not drunk by itself, however for some reason when it is paired with most Peruvian dishes, it just complements them. Ceviche, Lomo Saltado and Pollo a la Brasa taste a heck of lot better when rinsed down with Inka Kola.
The super market looks very similar to the ones in the USA. Maybe you guys can go to a local market for a more peruvian experience. Love your videos . 😁
Nelson W. Wongs is actually full of peruvian products. Most markets are very well stocked with western products too. Otherwise, people shop in open markets for meat, fish, cheese, produce. But it's limited. Lima is very nice and well developed. U won't find a lot of traditional places in Miraflores/barranco.
Lol at 5:25..I went to Lima Peru for 3 weeks in August 1995 with my mom to visit family and that's all I ate and drank the entire 3 weeks. I was 12 years old and afraid to try anything else so I lived off those fries, roasted chicken and Inca Cola. I remember having pizza hut too but it was nowhere near as good as it was in the states so I stuck with the chicken and fries. Now as an adult I love Peruvian food
Amazing episode! Love your Peruvian videos. My son for some reasons takes a particular liking to Wong supermarkets and when visited that particular one in Miraflores last year, we hanged out a couple of times at that little snack area on the second floor! Thanks for the tour guide of the local Peruvian delicacies. We actually like Inka Cola quite a bit but I think it is a bit of a acquired taste. We also love the lucuma ice cream!
Hello guys, the other day I told you on another vlog that you were staying close to my grandma apt, just saw this vid and you are pretty much across street from her building! What a coincidence... she’s on the white building called Royal Palace almost in front of the little bridge crossing the ‘bajada (pretty much behind Sam where he was sitting at the bajada) ’. I will visiting her from the States in a week and a half so I hope we cross path (maybe I see you at Wong 😂)... thank again for the vlogs ‘neighbors’... lol. Regards, Marco
Thank you! Wow, that is incredible. That area is somewhere we walk every single day. Hope you have a great trip Marco. Unfortunately, we filmed this a little while ago so we're not in Peru right now.
Great video. I love that your videos are full of details, like the escalators. When I was at those supermarkets three years ago I found the hydroponic lettuces. They might not sell them anymore. BTW carambola is star fruit.

Inca Cola tastes of bubblegum 😆. Another cool video guys. Thanks
Hahaha...yeah it kind of does. Thanks!
We have it here in the U.S but in my opinion it doesn't taste as good as the inca cola sold in Peru. Last time I was in Peru was August of 1995 and I still remember how good the inca cola was and how disappointed I was when I tasted here in the U.S.

The best peruvian commercial beer is Cuzqueña

Is the peruvian lemongrass, kinda
I am afraid to try ceviche when I travel to Peru. The supermarket looks clean and safe. What are your throughts?
That is a good place to start and I would also recommend cevicherias - basically restaurants specializing in the dish. You'll want to have it for lunch so it is most fresh.
I love the amount of respect you have for all the places you visit. You are willing to learn & explore and are genuinely so excited about it, it’s contagious. You guys are awesome!
Oh wow!! I sure enjoyed the tour of the store.
It looked amazing inside, lots of delicious foods.

Thank you very much!
I loved Wong when I lived in Peru, but the local Mercado prices for Ceviche are better than this!
Thanks! That is cool to hear. What was the price of Ceviche from the local outdoor markets?
At markets they have really good ceviche for 10 soles
Love the markets in Peru! I being in that wong. Is a little more expensive than other areas.
Thanks! Which one do you recommend?
In the US people are using Valerian plant as calmant. There's an organic peruvian brand of teas, recently got in market. It is ''Sunka'', I recommend the Sueño Profundo box. It contains Valerian mixed with other plants too. I've given to a couple of friends in the US and they liked it.
Another box of infusion of same brand is of Coca leaf (not cocoa but coca). Good for focus. It's from the highlands.
Peruvian brand of soap and shampoo made of oats, it's the brand Ammen's.
They can be found in supermarkets (like Wong, Tottus or Metro).
For ice cream, a natural kind is from a place 'Laritza'. Savous like 'ojaldre', 'franccesca', 'amarento', 'lemon pie', are very good.
THanks for sharing those teas! THat is cool they're making it the US now. We really enjoy the fruit flavored Peruvian ice creams.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos The brand is in Peru, I sent from Peru to the US. Best wishes.
I love grocery shopping too! Nice inside look of a supermarket in Perú.
Thank you! They are fun to explore.
Ohh Perú...very good...

Very late comment, but I love that Wong. I miss it.
She's a good balanced woman treat her good
I get nostalgic every time I watch your videos! Much Love from Florida! I recommend eating Carapulcra and Cau Cau
Thank you! Really appreciate the recommendations.
Cherimoya is Custard Apple - a very popular fruit in India as well. I could chow down multiple of them in a go - they are SO good!
That is so cool to hear! We love them too.
A similar kind is found in India, but the Chirimoya is originally from Peru.
Wow those desserts looked good. Everything looked good! That Inca kola has to be good. Gonna go on the hunt for some!
Thank you! Let me know what you think of it.
the bread from Wong is sooo good
